A man is walking down a road and he comes to a fork in the road. There are 2 ways to go.
One road will lead to safety and the other road will lead to death. Now there are 2 guards
waiting there. One of them is a truth teller, the other is a liar. The man cant tell which
is which. But he gets to ask one question to find the door to safety.

Which question is that?

Let me preface the answer with an honest confession. I had heard that riddle and the solution before (but for some reason had to think really hard to figure it out today), and today while trying to figure it out again, I got help from a couple other people on sajha chat.

Divide the coins into two groups. Group 1 has 9 coins, Group 2 has 41 coins
The number of heads in Group 1 : say, "a". The number of heads in group 2: 9-a (because we had nine heads to begin with)
Flip all the coins in Group 1.
You have 9-a heads in Group 1 now.
No. of heads in Group 1 = Number of heads in Group 2 = 9-a.

Alright, here's one for y'all. 

A man walks into a newspaper kiosk in NYC and buys a pack of marlboro, a 16 oz. coke and a copy of NY times. In return for his 20 dollar bill, the kiosk clerk hands him $17.61 in change, a bear hug and says "you are my savior".  You can ignore the bear but and the remark but there was a solid reason why the clerk handed that exact change. What is the exact reason?

The trick to this riddle is that the addition and subtraction are done at the wrong times to misdirect your answer. 

So, three frens paid Rs. 27, but the worker will say they were charged only Rs. 25. and when you add Rs 3 retuned, with the Rs 2, kept by the worker, you come up with Rs 30.

i got the riddle wrong, i thought it stops after u open/close every 3rd one. So it goes on.....It takes a lot of patience to work this one out . :)
