एकजना छन अमेरिकाको न्यूयोर्कमा । आफुले आफैलाई बुद्धिमान घोषणा गर्दै आफु बिदेशिनुलाई ब्रेन डर्नको सज्ञा दिने त्यो सख्श अरु कोही होइन अनाबश्यक रुपमा तपाई हाम्रो ब्यक्तिगत मेल अकाउन्टको यनबाक्स फुल गर्ने हिन्दु अतिवादी र तराईको शान्त नेपाललाई भारतीय भुमन्डलमा मिलाउने प्लानका सेवक हुन-परमेन्द्र कुमार भगत ।

उनी हरेक दिनजसो दर्जनौ मेल दुनियाका हजारौ मेलबक्समा पठाउछन् । कुनैबेला नेपालको प्रजातान्त्रिक आनदोलनलाई सहयोग गर्ने नाममा काठमाडौंको आन्दोलनको फोटो किन्ने भगत अहिले हरेक दिन पहाडिका नाउमा बिद्वेश उराल्दै मधेशीका मनमा घृणाको बीउ रोप्न उद्यत छन् । अर्थात उनी पहाडी र मधेशी नेपालीबीच माराकाट गराएर साम्पर्दायिक हिसाको बिउ रोप्न चाह्छन । किनभने यो उनको मालिकको आदेश हो ।

भारत नेपालमा के चाहन्छ ब्वासोले गाइको बाच्छालाई मायाले सुम्सुमाएर कन्याउदै मुटु कलेजो झिकेर खाएजस्तो गर्ने प्लानमा छ । नेपालमा हिसा बढेपछि बिचरा भन्दै सुमसुमाउन आए जस्तो गरि तराइलाइ आफ्नो भागमा मिलाउने र को दीर्घकालिन रणनीती पुरा गर्ने एजेन्ट हुन उनी । उनीमात्र होइन उपेन्द्र यादव हृदयेश त्रिपाठी र जयकृस्ण गोइतहरु पनि त्यही हुन । जो आफुलाई नेपाली भनाउन समेत चहदैनन् ।

हिजोसम्म श्री ५ को सरकार हुदा उनीहरुले जनआन्दोलन भाग २ मा कहि पनि मधेशका नाउ उच्चारण गर्न परेन । राजाकै शाशनमा मस्त भए । किनभने अहिलेका राजा भारतीयकै ज्वाई र नातेदार अनि उतैबाट आएका थिए । तर अहिले जब नेपाली जनताको ुनेपाल सरकारु भयो उनीहरुलाई नेपाली भन्न लाज लाग्यो र मधेश सरकारको नारा उचाल्न थाले ।

केही समयअघि सम्म मधेशी र लोबतन्त्रको नारामा ब्लग लेखिरहेका उनी एक्कासी नेपालबिरोधी र भारतसमर्थक भएर निस्किए । उनी नेपाली पासपोर्टकै आधारमा अमेरिकामा बसिरहेका छन् भलै भारतीय कृपादृष्टिले पालिएका किन नहोस । तर आफुलाई नेपाली भनाउदा लाज लाग्छ रे । मधेश छुट्टै देश हो रे । नेपालीहरुले त्यस देश हडपेका हुन रे । उनका पछिल्ला लेख पढ्दा यस्तै लाग्छ ।

काठमाडौंका नेवारले नजानेर किम्बदन्ती वा जोक्स बनाएको ‘मनु मखु मडिस्या ख’ लाई ठुलो मुद्दा बनाएर आर्टिकल लेखे । पहाडिया भनेका मान्छे नै होइनन र उनीहरुलाई खत्तम गर्नुपर्छ भन्ने उनको आशय झल्किन्छ ।

वास्तबमा यो फलाम तातेको बेलामा हिट गरेजस्तै हो । तराईमा सयजना मान्छे अगाडि लगायो हजार जना पारीबाट सय रुपैया दैनिक दिएर ल्यायो । नत्र काठमाडौमा लाखौ मान्छे उत्रदा जनआन्दोलन २ मा किन तराईमा मान्छे सुन्यप्राय थियो राजतन्त्र बिरुद्ध ११ बर्ष जनयुद्ध हुदा पहाडमा जसरी क्रान्ति मौलायो तराईमा लुटेर खानेहरु मात्र बढे किन हुन त तराईमा पुरानो डाका सस्कारले गर्दा पनि माओवादीमा लाग्नेहरु लागेका थिए लुट्न नपाउने भएपछि जनतान्त्रीकमा लागे । राजा फाल्ने आन्दोलनमा चाही नलाग्ने अहिले ठुृलो क्रान्तिकारी कुरा गर्ने

भगत जस्ता कथित नौटंकी अनुहारहरु धेरै छन् यहा । उनी कहिले आफु नेपालमा राजनीति गर्न नफकर्कने कुरा गर्छन त कहिले अमेरिकामा सबैले नेपाल गएर राजनीति गर भनिरहेको लेख्छन ।

परमेन्द्र भन्ने मान्छेले एकपटक अनौठो कुरा गर्यो । सारा सार्क क्षेत्र एउटै रास्ट्र हुनुपर्ने प्रस्ताब राख्छन । यसको अर्थ के हो हिन्दुस्तानले भन्ने गरेको सारा भारतबर्ष एउटै देश होओस भनेको होइन पाकिस्तान बंगलादेश देखि नेपाल र भुटानसम्म भारतमै गाभियोस भन्ने उनको आशय हो कि होइन यस्ताले तराइको आन्दोलन हाकेको दाबी गरेका छन् । के यो कहाबाट सन्चालित हो यसै थाहा हुदैन

अमेरिकामा उनी कसरी पुगे यहा के काम गर्छन उनी बेलाबखत नेपालमा पत्रिका र इन्टरनेट साइट चलाउनेहरुलाई अलिअलि रकम दिएर भारतीय लाइनका नेपाली नेताहरुका। अन्तर्बातार्ता लिन लगाउछन् । यता केही पैसामा बिकेर पत्रकार भनाउदाहरु भारतकै दलालीमा बोलेको कुरा छाप्छन । उनको धन्दा यस्तै छ । आफुलाई महान बनाएर आर्टिकल लेख्दै दुनियाका मेलमा बिना अनमति बग्रेल्ती िलंक पठाएर उनले दुनियालाई दुःख दिएबापत क्षतिपुर्ती तिर्नुपर्दैन अमेरिका बस्नेलाई त यो थाहा हुनुपर्ने उनले अरुको मेल आइडी कसरी थाहा पाए प्राइभेसी ल अनुसार त कारबाही हुन्छ आफु बिदेशिदा ब्रेन ड्रेनको घोषणा गर्नेलाई त थाहा हुनुपर्ने ।

गगन थापासित अकंमाल गरेको फोटो खिचाउदा आफुलाई भाग्मानि ठानेर आर्टिकल लेख्नेले अहिले तिनै थापाहरु अर्थात पहाडेहरुका बिरुद्ध बिषबमन गर्दा कस्तो लाज नलागेको । साइटभरी आफ्ना नानाभातिका फोटो राखेर प्रचार गर्ने भगतले लेखेका अग्रेजीका भाषण कतिजना तराइबासीले पढ्छन त्यो उनलाई के मतलब भगतले त त्यो भाषण आफ्ना मालिकहरुलाई देखाएर पैसा झार्नका लागि हो । साच्चै तराइका लागि सबेदनशील हो भने त कलैयामा आएर जुलुसको नेतृत्व गरुन न । सोझा गरिब मर्ने भगतहरुचाही अमेरिकामा बसेर तर मार्ने

पहाडिया र मधेशीको साम्प्रदायिक सदभाब भडकाएर मान्छे मार्ने खेल हुदैछ । यदी त्यसो भयो भने नेपालको इतिहासमा पहिलोपटक लाखौ मानिस मारिन्छन । देश बिखन्डन पक्का हुन्छ । भगतहरुको मास्टर प्लान यही हो ।

जनअधिकार फोरम भनेको भारतीय दुतावासबाट रकम ल्याएर सास्कृतिक कार्यक्रम गर्ने गोष्ठि गर्ने र एक दुइटा प्रतिबेदन छपाएर मधेशीको नाम भजाउदै पैसा कमाउने एनजिओ होइन यो कुनै पार्टी हो जसले बिचारको आन्दोलन गर्छ त्यहा बसेका नेताहरुको कुण्डल हेर्नुपर्छ कहा कहाबाट सन्चालित छन यसै थाहा हुन्छ ।

उपेन्द्र यादव काठमाडौंको बानेश्वरमा एकजना राजावादीको घरमा भाडामा सायद सित्तैमा बस्छन् । किशोरकुमार बिश्वास भन्ने मण्डले जो सद्भावना पार्टी छाडेर दरवारहुदै भारतीय क्याम्पमा पुग्यो उनी पत्रकारहरुको फोन नम्बर सकलन गर्दै आफ्नो नाम बजाइदिने अनुरोध गरिरहन्छन् । अर्का आफुलाई महासचिब बताउनेचाही उपेन्द्र यादबले बोक्ने ९८४१-४३५७७१ नम्बरको मोबाइल उठाउछन र आफ्नॊ नाम उल्लेख गरेर समाचार लेखिदिन र आफ्नै अन्तरवार्ता लिइदिन करकर गरिरहन्छन् । उनका अन्तरवार्ता लिन मानेन भने उपेन्द्र यादवलाई सम्पर्क हुनै दिदैनन उनी ।

अस्ति भारतको गणतन्त्र दिवसका भारतीय दुतावासमा भएको पार्टीमा फोरमका नेताहरु कसरी कानेखुशीमा मग्न थिए त्यो कुरा सहभागि यो पंक्तिकारलाई थाहा छ । राजेश अहिराज जस्ता नटबरलाल पत्रकारहरु पनि त्यस दिन एक लाख भारुको पुस्तक पुरस्कार लिदै चलमलाइरहेका थिए ।

We nepalese who have been in the US or elsewhere (besides Nepal) for a few years, cry Racism if we dont get our ways...be it in job field or educational field... yet, same "us"... do not find it apalling to be discriminatory towards diffrent castes/region people in Nepal...knowingly or unknowingly... or.. taking it as "sadaiba dekhi chali ayeko pratha" category..
Aah..and the height of hypocrisy... ?.... well... when our madhesi-nepalis....had had enough of this and protest... we find that hard to take also. ANd mind you, they were all born there at that...not like they came form somewhere else.
And.....dont most of us just love to run away from problems instead of answering and solving them when the INEVITABLE question does finally arise??? Sweeping the dust under the carpet will only keep the place clean temporarily!

मधेशको मोह

मेरो जन्म तर्राईको विराटनगरमा भएको हो । म जस्तै जन्मभूमि तर्राई र कर्मभूमि काठमाडौ“ भएका धेरै छन् । मधेशलाई जन्मथलो र काठमाडौ“लाई कर्मथलो बनाएर मधेशी, पहाडिया, प्रतिष्ठित बुद्धिजीवी, राजनीतिज्ञहरूदेखि स-साना पेशामा लागेकाहरूको सङ्ख्या दिन-प्रतिदिन बढ्दो छ । छापाका समाचार र टेलिभिजनका दृश्यहरूले प्रश्नमाथि प्रश्नहरू थप्दै गएका छन् । यसै साताको कुरा हो । साधारण दिनचर्यामा लागेका, रोजीरोटीमा जुटेका एवम् काठमाडौ“मा पेशा गरेर बसिरहेका एक हूल तर्राईवासीकै माझमा एकछिन बसेकी थिए“ । उनीहरूले मलाई नै प्रत्रि्रश्न गरे, "दिदी, के हो - सङ्घीय राज्य व्यवस्था भनेको - समानुपातिक चुनाव प्रणाली कस्तो हुन्छ - समान जनसङ्ख्याका आधारमा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र कसरी तोक्ने -"

मैले भने“, "म आधिकारकि मानिस होइन, न त विज्ञ नै हु“ † जुन पार्टर्ीीे नाम सद्भावना पार्टर्ीी, त्यसले सद्भावना राखेर यी सबै कुराको पहल गर्नेछ । ढुक्क हुनुहोस् ।" त्यसपछि म त्यहा“बाट हि“डे“ । मेरा लागि मधेश बाल्यकालको स्मृति बिसाउने ठाउ“ हो । तर्राईका विविध रङ आ“खामा समेटेर बसेकाहरूलाई यस कर्मभूमिमा पनि मधेशको तस्वीरले पछ्याउ“छ होला । मलाई भने जाडो महिनामा नङ्गधडङ्ग केटाकेटीहरूसित बाल्यकालमा वरपिर िस“गै बसेर 'घुर' तापेको सम्झना भइरहेछ । मलाई यो पनि सम्झना छ, जाडो महिना मधेशको पारलिो घाममा उखुका ला“क्राहरू चुस्दै चरमर चरमर ध्वनिका साथ हामी परालको कुन्यूमाथि बसेर कच्ची सडक ओहोर-दोहोर गथ्र्यौं । समानान्तर जीवनमा हाटमेला भर्नेहरू, टाउकोेमा सन्तुल राखेर भारी बोक्नेहरू, चिउरा कुट्नेहरू, खेत खलिहानमा धान निफन्नेहरू अहिलेको यो अशान्त मधेशलाई हेरेर के गररिहेका होलान् - उनीहरूका काला, चम्किला आ“खाहरूमा कस्तो नया“ नेपाल निर्माणको सपना छ -

हो, मेरा संवेदनाका हरफहरू जन्मभूमिको स्मृतिमा कतै हराउन सक्लान् । त्यही स्मृतिको बोझले म थिचिन सकु“ला । तर, अहिले म त्यो 'घुर' को ताप होइन, बढी राप दिएर निभाउनुपर्ने अर्को आगोप्रति सबैलाई सजग र आ-आप\mनो ठाउ“बाट प्रयत्नरत रहन आग्रह गररिहेकी छु । अहिले मधेशतिर बलिरहेको आगो त्यो 'घुर' ताप्ने आगो होइन । त्यसैले म यतिबेला 'पहाडी मधेशी भाइभाइ सबकेउ मिलके नेपाल बनाई' राष्ट्रिय गीत नै बनोस् अनि कुनै सङ्गीतमा उनिएर जताततै घन्किरहोस् भन्ने चाहन्छु । पार्टर्ीीगरको सद्भावना मेरो पनि हो । जीवनको विविध रङ बोकेको मधेश, जहा“ आ“खाहरू यहा“का पहाडमा ठोक्किएजस्तो ठोक्कि“दैनन्, टाढाटाढासम्म हेररिहन्छन्, ती आ“खाहरू अनि मधेशमा बस्ने दाजुभाइका सोचहरू दूरदर्शी होऊन् । मेरो बाल्यकालको स्मृतिको तस्वीर धुमिल नभएर अझ टड्कारो होस् ।

मधेश भन्छ, उसको मन धेरै कुराबाट दुखेको छ । पर््रदर्शन जारी छ । आमजनता बन्द, हडताल, अस्तव्यस्तता र कुहिरोमा छोपिएको घामजस्तै भएका छन् । मधेशीको मुस्कान, ख्यालठट्टा गर्ने बानी सबै हराएको छ । मन हो, दुख्छ नै । यो दुखेको मनलाई तर्राईमा थरूनीले गोबरले आ“गन लिपेभै“m लिप्नर्ुपर्छ । प्याल्ल बगेर गएको गोबर एक ठाउ“मा राखेजस्तै यस मनलाई पनि बरालिन दिनुहुन्न । सफा, सिनित्त र चिटिक्क परेको गोबरले लिपेको आ“गनमा मधेशिनी आमा, दिदीबहिनीको मन रमाएभै“m हामी संयमित हुन सक्यौ“ भने मनहरू, तर्राईवासीका मनहरू दुख्ने छैनन् ।

मधेशको दिल दुखाउनु हुन्न । मधेशको विविध रङलाई उजागर गर्न के गर्न सकिन्छ - गरहिाल्नर्ुपर्छ । बलेको आगोमा घिउ थप्ने धेरै हुन्छन् । संशोधन, समाचार, सहमति, सद्भावना सबै 'स' बाट उठ्ने शब्दहरू हुन् । सङ्घीय लोकतन्त्रमा सबैलाई समेट्ने वातावरण बनाउन केके पहल भइरहेछ - यो आगो कहिले शान्त हुन्छ - स्पष्ट हुनर्ैपर्छ । किनभने, सामान्य जनजीवन प्रभावित छ । तर, मलाई माथि सोधिएका प्रश्नहरूका सम्भावित उत्तरहरू के हुन सक्छन् - अहिले मौन छु । प्रधानमन्त्रीको आह्वानमा विश्वास गर्दै मधेशतिरै फर्किन्छु । अहिलेलाई आफ्नो 'बालहठ' छोडिदिन्छु ।

We have one thing common ie rationalism. I am one of the many admirers of yours. Sometime when I read your article or posting, I double check the author to make sure it isn't me.

At times Sajha becomes disturbing place for me so I take leave. My best friend emails the link of your best articles... you are one of the persons I admire in Sajha... though we hardly interact because of our different field of interest.

We always dream of establishing an unique research institute in Nepal, ....Though I don't know you but I count you as one of the pillar of the house of my ambition. ...

Are Madheshi minority?

If you divide people by their ethnicity Madheshis are not minority rather Majority. There is no single ethnic group in Nepal that match the Madhesi number. However, if you divide people by hill dwellers and plane dwellers, they might be considered as minority. Since Nepal was made by a hill dweller king, Madheshi believed that they have been ruled by Pahadis. They consider themselves as second class citizen in their own country.

I personally believe that they are responsible for it to great extent. All most all Nepali fought against the king Prithivi, the king of Gorkha. When a single country got formed everybody considered Nepal as their own country. Those people who lived in Kathmandu valley were the one who resisted the most; no one suffered as they did. However, they accepted Nepal as their own country and progressed. I am Nepali, I am not Gorkhali. I would already have revolted if king tried to make me second class Gorkhali citizen. As I dissolve in Nepal, so does Pramendra. ...There is huge difference between Gorkhali and me; I could also have discriminate myself as Paramendra does. But I fought back. ... I am not living in Gorkha.. I am living in my own land... the land of my own ancestor ...... ..... Paramendra has to realize this mistake.... his weakness.


Plus their direct connection with Indian boarding states has been disadvantage for them. Jesus said: Love thy Neighbors! Jesus was a wise man that's why he said so; most difficult thing is to love your neighbor. If you can live harmoniously with your neighbors, you are really a nice person. Only nice person can love their neighbors. Most of the countries in the world doesn't have good relationship with their immediate neighbors compare to the distant neighbors. This theory applies to families and to the people. Accordingly Nepali people don't have high regard for Indians and visa-a-versa; this victimize our Madheshi brothers.

My roommate told me one incidence. He and one of his close friends were flying from Kathmandu. The official at International Airport let him pass easily but his friend was interrogated and treated badly because he was Madheshe. Shame on these people who discriminate people of their own family... from my point of view this type of idiots are real cause of our problems and these are the people who are responsible for our backwardness.

Hirtik Roshan scendle was product of this type of idiot patriots. At that time also our Madheshe brothers felt they were discriminated. Hirtik Roshan is close to Bahun and Kshatriyas instead of Madhesis. Madheshis got victimize because of their look with bordering Indians...

I don't expect majority of Pahadi will get civilized soon and will not discriminate Madhashi. Madhashi has to change their culture... they have to learn how to fight back. ...instead of running away. ... law doesn't discriminate Madheshi... those are people who discriminate Madheshis; and Madheshis have to learn to tackle with these idiots.

I must expect insult because majority of people are immoral.

He told this when he was insulted by some people who didn't like him and his teaching. The story goes like this:

Buddha had exceptionally good looking body. When a Brahman saw him he (the Brahman) became so happy because he had an exceptionally beautiful daughter. Her name was Magandia. He was looking for the right match for her and he thought he found it.

However, when Magandia was brought to him, Buddha rejected the proposal saying that her beauty was impermanent. Brahman got so surprised! She was so beautiful that anybody would be ready to die for her but there was a monk who treated her like mud. Brahman was highly learned and wise, he asked Buddha for ordination and became a Monk. So did his wife, leaving Magandia under the guidance of her uncle.

Magandia was very fool woman. She felt insulted from Buddha's rejection and promised to destroy him. Her uncle had her married to a king. At that time Kshatriya could get married with Brahmin girl and Brahmin could get married with Kshatriya daughter. Son from Kahstriya father and Brahmani mother couldn't get throne, ie, he wasn't considered full Kahstriya. However, the son from Brahmin father and Kshatriya mother could learn all three Vedas, ie, was considered full Brahmin. Cultures change as time change!

Madandia was a beloved queen of the king (I am sorry I forgot the name of the king and kingdom). When she heard Buddha was coming to her city, she bribed few people to abuse and insult Buddha in order to take revenge.

When Anand, Buddha's secretary, saw people abusing, scolding and insulting Buddha, he requested Buddha to step back. He requested Buddha not to enter the city. In reply Buddha said:

म संग्रामको हात्ती हु, तिर देखी के को डर, तिर त लाग्ने ने छन, मैले तिरको अपेक्षा नगर्नु अश्बभाविक हो।
यो संसार खराब मानिशहरुले भरियको छ, त्यसैले गालि गर्ने नै छन्, मैले गालिको अपेक्षा नगर्नु अश्बभाविक हो।

He entered the city despite the insult....

Paramendra ( could be any Madheshi) is running away from trouble instead of facing troubles. He is complaining.... he is saying people mistreat him... they insult him... they abuse him... whom is he complaining? He is in his own land... he is living with his brothers... there is no father... we all are brothers... there is no authority to complain....if Pahadis bully you, you have to learn to handle it.

Civilization is measured from the progress of the society. Nepal is one of the most regressive countries of the world. ... in this way it is one of the most uncivilized society....why does he expect civilization from an uncivilized society?

When in Rome do as Romans do...

Dude, either teach civilization to uncivilized Pahadis or learn their way of living. ... no running away.... fighting back. ... learn from Buddha....fight back but non violently....Buddha didn't run away from the city of Magandia... he ignored those abusers. ... if you can do so... you are teaching lesson of civilization.... if you can not ignore... then learn to say पाखे, ज्यापु, भोटे etc.

Nepal is our country...you live in Tarai, it is one part of Nepal. I live in Pahad... it is another part of Nepal... someone live in Himal it is another part of Nepal.. We all live in our homeland... we all live in the land of our ancestors. ..nobody is ruling over other. Nobody is prevailing over other....we all are equal... if not we have to work out peacefully to make all equal.

Real cause of Madhesh:

More than 90% Madheshes are so called backward people. They are economically poor and culturally corrupted. The Nepali structure is same form Pahad /Himal/ to Tarai. Since we share the same culture and tradition, there are privileged people in Tarai as well. These are so called upper caste people. Mostly, Brahmans (Jha, Tiwari), Rajpoots (Singh, Chauhan), Kayastha (Karna, Lal). Most of these people are rich, well educated and well cultured...If these people say they are discriminated, I can't buy this. .. They discriminate Madheshi lowers casts more than Pahadi discriminates Madhesi.

Today, everywhere we are hearing Yadav...Yadav.. Yadav. Matrika P Yadav.... Krishna Bahadur Yadav.. ..Upendra yadav... Ram Baran Yadav. ..Yadavs makes most of the Madheshi population. These Yadavs are decendants of ancient Indian kings... They are proud Kshatriyas. However, as time passed, they were ruled by new sets of Kshatrias known as Rajpoots. These Rajpoots are Indo-Persians. Now a days these Yadavs are considered lower to Rajpoots and they are considered a backward caste.

This song gives a flavor of how Yadavs are treated by so called upper casts:

सौ साल पहेले, यादब कम्हार (a kind of lower caste) था; सरपे पुवार (पराल =straw) था; भेस (buffalo) पर सवार था; अनपढ गवार था, आजभी है और कलभी रहेगा।

These are Yadavs. Now these illiterate Yadavs, buffalo riders, who carry bunch of straw in their head are rising. This is their revolution not of Madhesi Brahmans, Rajpoots, and Kayasthas. I like this uprise... I am happy these suppressed Yadhavs and other lower casts will get awareness and some day they will be equally commutative with the society.

I don't believe Madheshis are discriminated. I believe there are backward people who are discriminated and their number is more in Madhesh compare to Pahad and Himal.

What is solution?

Always enjoyed your posts in this issue! Being a Medhesi Newar for several generations (five generaions during the past 125 years in Madhesh), I definitely agree with your assessment on this subject! I might add two more budding polical stars, Jai Krishna Goit from Madhesh Mukti Morcha and Jwala singh (actual name Nagendra Paswan) from a similar group. Goit is also from Ydav clan. Paswan, as I was told, is from Dushad caste (used to be untouchable!). So I think you are right when you say this on going uprising is basically from disadvantaged/neglected/backward Madhesis!

I like to add that as a Madhesh resident, I was hurt to see Pahadis blaming Madhesis for Hritik roshan scandal. I did not undersand what our Medhesis had to do with the whole Hritik scandal. For several days, I could not look into the eyes of our Madhesis friends with straight face. Although they did not say anyhing, I could read their eyes as if they are asking me what they have to do with this whole mess? Of course, they must have looked into my guilty eyes and got the answer: "I am sorry!"

To know about Madheshi Uprising, we should know about Madheshis: If anybody has best ancient recorded history in Indian subcontinent its of Madhesis.

25 century ago, Northern India was divided into two big empires; Magadh (Roughly Today's Bihar) in the East and Kosal (Roughly Today's UP) in the west. King प्रशेनजित ‍ ‍-प्र‌ +सेन +जीत (The Army winner), ruled Kosal where as सेनिए बिम्बशार (Master of Army Vimbasar), a highly religious king ruled Maghad. These two countries were the superpowers of the time and largest economies.

अजातसत्रु, the son of Vimbasar, killed his father and ruled Maghad. He was very ambitious, so, to extend his empire, he decided to take Vaishali, a highly rich and strong democratic country, where an exceptionally beautiful courtesan अम्रापाली used to dance. He moved his kingdom from Rajgiri to Pataliputtra (today's patna) and invaded Vaishali. This extended kingdom from today's Andrapradesh to today's Nepal.

After 300 years, a new mighty king aroused in this area. He was known Emperor Ashoka. He ruled almost entire North and north Eastern India till Nepal. He made 84000 Buddha Bihars (Monasteries), in his kingdom dedicated to Buddha and his teaching. Anywhere you go, you see Bihar. Since then the place is known as Bihar...it lost its real name Maghad.

Because of its fertile land Bihar had always remain highly richest country in Indian subcontinent. It had remained the richest Indian state till British Raj. When British left India, Bihar was the richest Indian state.
