Not any particular occasion, however I have been promising too many friends at Sajha and elsewhere to share with them this video clip from the movie I had acted in and now that I finally managed to encode and upload it to Youtube, I am sharing it with you all.
Here is a song from the video movie SAUGAT (1990) featuring myself and one of the “heroines†of the movie, Bina Basnet (Budhathoki).
The movie itself was of a mediocre quality and I am probably not doing great in the song either. (To tell you the truth, when the movie was “released†at the only “Video hall†of that time at Bhrikuti Mandap, I was more embarrassed than been proud or happier and I used to make sure before sending my friends to the theater that they do not expect any art but just the moving picture of mine and that’s all.).
Since then, however, what Mark Twain has said about adventures (“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did doâ€) has proved true to myself.
In my case, it was seventeen years since then to be convinced fully that I would have regretted missing the opportunity to play in this movie, I would say, of an adventurous quality and equally adventurous match.
With a deeply satisfying prior experience of acting in the plays like “Usko Kavitama Aba Ko Rundaina†and “Romeo Juliet†with me, I was not very proud and certain about this movie. However, I enjoyed every bit of doing it and I am thankful to my director, Prayag Raj Shrestha (an English teacher by profession and a painter, writer and director by hobby) and all the crew and the cast of the movie for the unforgettable and now precious moments they gave me privilege to share with them. I cherish them all.
And to my precious Sajha friends, here is the song “Swarga Kahan Chha Kunni, Timro Angaalo Ta Ho Ni†from the video movie “Saugat†(1990).
The song was filmed at TribhuvanPark, Thankot and Dhunibesi.
From some of the conversations above, it must have been clear to you why you might have never seen me before.
First, I never played in any big screen movie (celluloid film). “Saugat” (1990) was a small screen (video) movie and it could be shown only in small video halls in cities and small towns.
Then, I am in Prabas almost immediately since then. I do hope to rekindle my hobbies once Iam back home. Wish me a good luck.

You are right. Hamal is still the uncontended educated and well-read movie star. Other things aside, I think it is important to be a well-read person in today’s world. A case in point, compare Amitabh Bachchan’s “Kaun Banega Karorpari” to Madan Krishna Shrestha’s “Inaam Paanch Laakh”. Despite being the most popular and a gifted artist, Madan Krishna could not impress the audience like Amitabh did with his vast knowledge about all sort of things.

I’ve got another song which is sweeter than this one. I was reluctant to share that first because I look so amateur, novice and hesitant in it. However, that’s how the director had asked me to perform. Otherwise I was really going to do it pretty recklessly. When I started to do it that way, the writer/director stopped me and explained that’s not how he has portrayed the hero of the story. I had to follow him.
So here is the opening song of the movie- I am singing a song at a picnic and, lo and behold, two pretty girls fall in love with me.
You are right. These pieces do not have much aesthetic value. Just serves good to the sentiments of the people attached to them.
The poor visual quality was due to multiple generations. Starting with an overused VHS cassette, the chain of conversion was like this: PAL VHS -> NTSC VHS -> PVP (avi) -> PC (wma) -> Edited by Windows movie maker -> Compressed by YouTube.
I am not sure about the female singer. However, it was definitely not Deepa Jha.

I do not have the whole movie. My director had given me a tape with only the four songs of the movie in it as a souvenir. So I have one more song to copy and upload.
