Not any particular occasion, however I have been promising too many friends at Sajha and elsewhere to share with them this video clip from the movie I had acted in and now that I finally managed to encode and upload it to Youtube, I am sharing it with you all.

 

Here is a song from the video movie SAUGAT (1990) featuring myself and one of the “heroines” of the movie, Bina Basnet (Budhathoki).

 

The movie itself was of a mediocre quality and I am probably not doing great in the song either. (To tell you the truth, when the movie was “released” at the only “Video hall” of that time at Bhrikuti Mandap, I was more embarrassed than been proud or happier and I used to make sure before sending my friends to the theater that they do not expect any art but just the moving picture of mine and that’s all.).

 

Since then, however, what Mark Twain has said about adventures (“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do”) has proved true to myself.

 

In my case, it was seventeen years since then to be convinced fully that I would have regretted missing the opportunity to play in this movie, I would say, of an adventurous quality and equally adventurous match.

 

With a deeply satisfying prior experience of acting in the plays like “Usko Kavitama Aba Ko Rundaina” and “Romeo Juliet” with me, I was not very proud and certain about this movie. However, I enjoyed every bit of doing it and I am thankful to my director, Prayag Raj Shrestha (an English teacher by profession and a painter, writer and director by hobby) and all the crew and the cast of the movie for the unforgettable and now precious moments they gave me privilege to share with them. I cherish them all.

 

And to my precious Sajha friends, here is the song “Swarga Kahan Chha Kunni, Timro Angaalo Ta Ho Ni” from the video movie “Saugat” (1990).

 

The song was filmed at Tribhuvan Park, Thankot and Dhunibesi.

Nepe bro,
With Bina Budhathoki? Lucky you, she was one of the hottest Nepali actresses, I knew it after watching a song of movie KASAM (Nyaano angalo bhitra......with Rajesh Hamal), she is good looking too.

Well, Nepe bro, its v beautiful song, who are the singers? U must have had some memorable moments while shooting this ROMANTIC song.

Just a prank, Herione sanga laaj manya ho ki kya ho tara dance bahne ali siknu paryo hai bro :-)

She is an attractive woman, no doubt. In a homely sort of way. Good actress too if I recollect correcty from the days of watching NTV in Nepal. There was Mithila Sharma too who was another accomplished actress IMO.

Amazing,

 

I had never danced before. So my clumsy movement was a total mismatch for a fine dancer like Bina Budhathoki. So hers was the acting, mine was an adventure.

 

I did have a good time with Bina. I was her confidante to begin with. She was going through a difficult time of her relationships at that time and she somehow found me a trustworthy and non-judgmental friend and a terrific counselor.

 

The singers were Prem Dhwaj Pradhan and Pabitra/Sunita (?) Subba.

Mithila Sharma is indeed a gifted actress and instructor as well. However, the exaggerated and showy melodrama that her directors often succeed to get out of her does not do justice to the total actor in her, IMHO.

 

The other day I was reading a review by a foreigner of ours only official selection to the Academy Award so far, “Basain” (2005). Here is a line that captures what I mean.

 

“Riper-than-ripe melodrama and overacting erase any emotional connection with the besieged clan.”

Well, after this disastrous rather “jump dance”, it did occur to me to get some training in dancing, not so much for movies though ( I knew the creator has not sculptured me to be the “hero” of Bollywood-Kollywood :-(  ). I did. But it was in seven desh paari Israel ma and it was my self-training in thousands of weekly weekend dance parties in my university.

reminded me of that song from the hindi-flick baazigar: 'baazigar o baazigar' especially since this one also seems like a romantic fantasy of the 'heroni'? oh well, only until i realize that our very own gorkhey baazigar is a tad bit too shy running around "green" trees though...

PS Captain, although i have liked Mithila sharma in some of her movies; more often than not, i find her monotonous act and cry-baby roles that she play, yawning and utterly boring . gauri malla is perhaps one of the better actors we have in our movie industry but that is just my opinion... interestingly enough, i am also quite a fan of that lady (dont know her name), who have played a number of times as wife of Santosh Panta in Hijo Aaja ka kura (?)....
