This article by Baburam Bhattarai is very touching.

"Anyone can have a good cause and philosophy, but how one goes on to achieve those very objectives makes them what they are."
Could not agree with you more, Indisguise.
It's the action of someone that defines that person.
In a similar context, I remember a guy that I knew was one of the meanest person around. People would say that he was good at heart, but yet he would go around hurting other people.
So it does not matter what you have in your head, as long as you don't put it to act.

Baburam is fight for ordinary people of Nepal not for Bloody Army Generals or Corrupt Burocrates' CHHAURAs. Everybody knows who do you represent who are against Maoist Movement. You are bunch self concerned losers. Nepalese society has already changed nobody can drive time in backward directions.

So be ready to face the New Nepal or pack you luggage and leave for good.

"Echoes, its utter nonsense to accuse Bhattarai's writing above for publicity- anyone would grieve if his/her mother died."
--DC_Girl

Well, I don't think he needs any publicity... What I meant was that he didn't write it just out of sheer grief... this article has a bigger message dr. bhattarai 's trying to get across to the elderly people: don't be scared of us, we love you.

For someone as committed to the mission as dr. bhattarai, such events (like a death in the family) are not as shocking as they may be to us... When they joined their movement, they knew up-front that it could mean getting killed or having to see a loved one die. They were willing and prepared to make these sacrifices... If he were truly concerned about his mother's well-being, he wouldn't have left his helpless elderly parents alone in the village... Maybe he was worried, but a bigger cause he stood for always came before it and he, in effect, chose to let her die the death she died.

I'm not saying he's not sad about his mother's death... I'm sure he is...but I still believe that Dr. Bhattarai used this article to convey more than just how devastating he feels now that his mother isn't living anymore...

>>Baburam is fight for ordinary people of Nepal
*As long as there are people who believes this, Neapl will not move forward.

Turbulence,
Why dont you find out for yourself if Baburam is fighting for the people or for himself. Meet with him and ask him and disagree on some key points, just to know what he really means. If you still stay alive come back and tell us.

Echoes,
>>.. trying to get across to the elderly people: don't be scared of us, we love you.
*This could not be any further from the truth. Tell that to the parents who have lost their loved ones.

>> I'm not saying he's not sad about his mother's death
I am sure you are his spokes person otherwise you would not dare to speak on behalf of Baburam and have strong maobadi connections?

If that's the case than can you justify the killings, extortions, kidnappings, forceful abductions, destroying infrastructure, bank lootings, bombing public places etc. Please.
If you cannot than do not pretend to be what you are not.

shiv,

talking of connections.

well, perhaps just like every other nepali, i've got my relatives split over the maoists/king divide. generally, the richer, with lucrative government jobs and such are on the side of the king, and the poorer, less fortunate favor the maoists (or the so called '7 parties'). that's the reality. check it for yourself.

i have an uncle who's a long-time officer in the security forces and was deployed in a "class A maoists-affected-area" until recently. my folks prayed for his well-being every day until his appointment was over. he's a nice and honest man. i met him last time i was in nepal and learned from him how things were going in the remote nepali villages. he feels strongly against the maoists, and that's his job.

i have another uncle (tho distantly-related), who i've never met, in the maoists ranks. he was an outstanding civil engineer, who, upon graduating with a B.E. "1st class 1st", chose to be a teacher in a remote village, and after a few years joined the maoists movement. last thing i heard about him was that he's become an in-charge of something somewhere in the jungle. his wife and kids are still in the village, living, my mother told me, "a very harsh life".

i could give several more examples, but this pattern is going to repeat. there are people i know and care about on both sides of war, and if you are honest, it is probably no different for you, either. we have a civil war going on in the country and i don't feel it condemned to say that some of my relatives are so called 'maoists' and are fighting for a republic.

This divide is a serious problem in our, like most others' too, largely extended family. We need to find a fair solution without killing off either side. I couldn't care less about the king or Chairman Prachanda. I just don't want any more of my relatives from either side hurt.

But that's the extent of my connections.

So I don't support either side. I want it my own way... I try hard to read the facts and to make informed remarks--whether they're in line with or against either side of the war... so just because I don't agree with you, you can't call me names. I check my facts and know what I am talking about. So if you got a problem with it, then shut the fk up. I don't even like you, anyway...

Echoes,

You have changed your tone from pro-baburam/pro-maobadi to a neutral position. I have no problem with either of them and all I ask is to look at other sides as well.

I also have friends/relatives divided not just on both issues but on all issues.

>> richer, with lucrative government jobs and such are on the side of the king, and the poorer, less fortunate favor the maoists
- I am a middle class citizen so where do I fall?

I dont come to sajha to say what I say is right and what others say are wrong. I come come here to learn diverse opinions, learn and grow.

>> So I don't support either side. I want it my own way...
-Kudos to you. This is the sign that my Nepal will be out of its crisis, sooner that I thought. Once people know what they want there is no one to stop them.

>> I try hard to read the facts and to make informed remarks--whether they're in line with or against either side of the war
-Again appreciate your thoughtfulness.

>>so just because I don't agree with you, you can't call me names.
-No I did not call you names. When did I? Please refer to your statements again in the previous post. You were speaking on Baburams' behalf; now you have clarified that you are not associated with maobadis, I am relieved. :-)

>> So if you got a problem with it, then shut the fk up. I don't even like you, anyway...
-No I do not have a problem when you look at all the facts but I do have a problem when you take the killers side and standup for it. I can voice my concern when I disagree with you or anyone. That's why I come here to agree or disagree on various issues. If you do not like diverse opinion, or the opinion which is different than you than you should not voice them.

I am glad that you do not like me. I hope you will keep it that way. I like people who dislike me. People who dislike me give me honest opinion.
:-)

Thank you for the clarification. I feel better :-)

>> i am a liberal ,we have to stay on safeside
How can you be a liberal when you are standing up for the maobadis?? When you are voicing "for" the maobadis won't you be considered among them?

>>i'm not a maoiest fighter
Good to know but how come you are speaking for the moabadis on their behalf?

Dhikkar chha yo baburam baje..... he even tried to do politics over his own Mother's natural death. Thukka bajiya....dear sajha friends.... how can you even say any positive about this cracked phd holder baburam?

I think his mother is lucky to depart Nepal - The country his own son has made bloody.

What a lame explanation.... baburam baje wishes his mother would have lived five more years so that his son would have done service to his own mother...

Stupid Baburam baje.. How the F9*0) you are pretending as if you you didn't know that IT WAS YOUR MOTHER who gave you up for your bloody katuts. Why the hell are you hiding your those conversation with your mother, in which she always scolded you and told you that you are dishonour to her womb. And yet you are doing politics over your own mother's death? How Idiot that you are. Shame on you.

Karmarana,
I have no right to discourage you to write your opinion, it's just your language and attitudes irritate me. You really need a counseling dude. Seriously, think about taking some therapy otherwise you will be in a big trouble in your life.

i I really cannot help you if you idolize Baburam. I do not even recommend you for counselling... coz you are already screwed up with those Maoists brainwashing. Actually it is evident that you no longer have your own brain.. it has been exchanged.... I have nothing to say you.. coz you are not recoverable.

Sorry dude, I am not sure if you would even understand what I am talking here.
