It was another episode of lavish marriage which many Nepalese can only dream. Millions of Nepalese are dying of hunger while the chief of army is able to celebrate his daughter's wedding in a grand style. Pyar Jung Thapa's daughter was able to make it big, thanks to her father's success in the country.
How is it possible for an army chief to have such a grand wedding? To read more

Bibas
I agree with you, but you cannot expect pyar to give up all the privileges provided to him just because we think it's wrong... The system of keeping servants needs to be abolished and until it's done so, I don't think any army official would say no to what he considers his right....

"But, given your assumption that making the wedding big makes one happy, I feel sorry for you mokshya".

Bibas ji, now you got a bit personal here... Since you dragged me in, let me say this to you. "No big marriage ALONE will not make me happy. However, if i think i have everything else I want to make myself happy, such ceremony will be a cherry on the top". And I"m being dead-honest here.... Nevertheless, I cannot use my criteria of happiness to measure everyone elses.... As for the bride, this may be all that she had wanted and her father tried to accomplish it.. Big deal!!
I was just giving my opinion and I don't think you should feel sorry for me just because I don't agree with you :-)

I think I will have to retract every single thing I have said. In fact I think you guys are right:
why should every army major get a servant for free?
Please call home you RNA brats and ask your parents/relatives to get rid of the free servant/servants your parents get!
And, while you are on the phone, tell your parents to not plan for your weddings and spend outrageous amounts to impress the neighbours, the friends and the rest of the families. Tell them that however they have earned their money is not going to matter. We are all under scrutiny. If you are girls/women who are planning your weddings or plan to get married in the future, remember your parents if most, do not make more than 40,000/50,000(IF EARNED RESPECTFULLY AND IN A GOVT SETTING) and therefore DO NOT MAKE OUTRAGEOUS demands on them. Tell them to ghati hereyra haad nilnu!!!
And that comment on how businessmen should be justified in spending huge amounts on anything - be that on buying govt officials or weddings - that is BS - I hope their money is hard-earned. And while I'm at it, if your father is a hard-working individual who made his fortune by working at govt jobs, on private contracts or if your father is affiliated with any INGO that pays well, be forewarned as the costs of YOUR WEDDINGS too will be under scrutiny.
Tell your parents they need not borrow to buy you that expensive dhoti lenga choli, that they need not borrow to send you on shopping sprees to Delhi for the wedding, that you do not need 20 million sarees, tell them that their blessings are enough!! And guys, you do not need that expensive suit in that dusty city nor the fake rolex watch to impress your in-laws...nor the car - NOTHING.
Yes do that and then lets argue about expensive weddings!

AMEN

as far as the wedding are yoy kidding me? now you realized how much these royal related folks were/are making. didn't you know they had been hoardng wealth from the national treasure ever since the begining of the shah dynasty.

anyways may shivaji bless the newly wed and destroy injustice and inequality that exist in the land of bholebaba.

I do not believe in lavishness. if i had that kind of money i'll rather help poor children.

Mike,
That is a wrong attitude. The topic has some relevance here. We are against Jung's abuse of security people for his benefit.

Mike,
Does that mean you shut your mouth if you cannot make a concrete change? Have you ever heard of the term "evolution?" Media is an important tool for changes. The most important thing for change is the change in attitude. Raising awareness among people helps prevent such scandals in the future.
We need to change the attitude of people like you so that we can make you aware too. Another thing is about freedom of speech and expression. Exercise it when you can....spell out your mind...

Who said only politicians need awareness? - funny.

It's people who need awareness about politicians. Politicans are already aware of their all scandals and crookedness.
