It was another episode of lavish marriage which many Nepalese can only dream. Millions of Nepalese are dying of hunger while the chief of army is able to celebrate his daughter's wedding in a grand style. Pyar Jung Thapa's daughter was able to make it big, thanks to her father's success in the country.
How is it possible for an army chief to have such a grand wedding? To read more

I am sure these people who are all for the wedding come from the similar political and corrupt families.
Suna said that Newars have elaborate weddings too. But did you forget that most of them are business people and hence are rich and they can do what they want to do with their hard earned money.

But for a government official (army) to spend millions in a mere wedding is a shame. These army people really need to be taught a lesson. No wonder they favor the king all the time so that they can keep looting the people.

I think most of the army officials have lower level army guys working in their house from kitchen to garden and everywhere. One of the army generals was making a house near my home and i remember everyday he would bring a truck load of army jawans to build his personal home.

For people who do not think this is wrong, must be using their father's position all the time to get things done. I know how some girls use their father's office car and drivers to come to college.

When are we going to learn and love the country and especially the people.

Its not the question of Army Chief's marriage, its politics , in guests list ther are lots of people who r very influential in Indian Politics.
remember there is no friend nor enemy in politics, even SPA knows it, thats why they r keeping quiet. Marriage is jsut a show, so many things r going behind the scene to save monarchy.

And i think his daughter did her undergrad in social services and i am sure if she stays in the country, she will be working in some big INGO banner- talking about women's rights and poverty in the country.

No wonder we are not able to do much through this NGO-INGO crap because it is filled with people of double standard.

It is like working for child rights where you have more than four servants in your house all below the age od 13 and who are trained like animals to work in the house.

This is the sad truth about a poor country. More that 40% of the population leave below poverty line and here come the arumy chief spending lakhs and lakhs on his daughter's wedding. Yes, as a citizen, I would like to know his souce of income. It is a fair question. Where did that kind of money come from? Could be inheritence.

I know many folks conduct a small, low-key wedding ceremonies because they feel it is not appropriate to have loud and lavish celebration when the country is in dire situation. These are well meaning ordinary folks, who can afford to have an extravagent affair but choose to go for a humble matrimony due to their sensitivity to the surroundings.

But no... not our Chief-saab.
