No voices were raised against 'Nepal being a Hindu country ' in any of the peoples movement in Nepal. Then why these bloody politicians decides to amend the constitution to make Nepal a secular state? I am pretty much sure if people were informed that the Jan Andolan would make the country a secular one, the streets of Kathmandu would not have been flooded with people during the Aandolan..
Politicians talk of respecting people's voice. They then do not have the right to amend the constitution to make a decision on the matter that was not voiced by people. There was nothing wrong with Nepal as Hindu country...If we want to change this, there should be referendum for that. Bloody politicians, killers do not deserve any right to decide against people's aspiration.
Hinduism basically is not the religion, its a culture. It respects all religions...we never had any religious dispute in the country. When things were going smoothly with that whywas the need for change?

IMI,
I know you’re present here in Sajha 24/7 and very popular.
You ‘re asking me: do you want this and do you want that???? Secular or non secular???
WTF……When did we ask for a secular state? Answer this. When did Buddhist ask for it? The date and time, if you got some picture, links of our demonstration, protest, meetings of our leaders that will be great. I’ll shut up then.
Please don’t give a long detail answer to the question. When I ask you
“What is your name?” and you answer “I live in Nepal” is not an answer, it’s someone who doesn’t listen, think they’re always right.
If we didn’t ask for it, why in the hell are we getting blamed. That’s my whole point. Agree?

Now the question about extremist coming to Nepal, war, killing , well I really don’t give a damn. You started the shit, you clean it. Kill each other…hell do anything you want. Just leave us alone.

haha..Vootee..Thanks for scarastic words..I do spend some time in sajah everyday. What is there to hide.
In your words i feel frustration ..It is ok my friend .You do not give a damn ..hmm..interesting ..well it is your point of thinking thats fine.

When did buddist wanted secular country?hmm not very strongly.I never really accussed any religious group of asking for secular country.

Ok To who ever this guy is : le chef de nuit,

Dude..Does India have public holiday in Ed?Does USAhave Public Holiday in Diwali ? dude know what you are talking kid!!!
Does Athesit are allowed to eat cow?
Very interesting...looks like beef fan out here. So, you want secular Nepal to eat beef .Why don't you wait some more time in Nepal you will be able to eat human beings too.The dead ones in riots.

Do not teach me secularism !!I know what it means i believe in practice .And what do you call if it was not secular .A church in every village in Nepal. A mosque in every village in Nepal .A mosque in the HINDU KINGDOM CAPITAL!!!find a temple in and other country beside India which is has a temple as big as that mosque? What do you say when Hindu and Buddist live in Peace and harmony. What do you say when a muslim does bhai tika . what do you say when i go to church??

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i will talk about true Hindu - country later .if we had followed that we wouldn't be in this state. As Birbhadar said , Hindu country is no more there it is gone .Well, fine but I will never stop saying that it was incorrect decision without proper analysis and vision. Moreover , That is not the right process to do it.

let people decide jassus not u and me... not all people are happy about this secular state of being. and we don't know what the number is. nice job trying to portry me as a hindu fundamentalist. i was and i am still merely asking a question. what do the people of nepal think? majority of whom are Hindus. let democracy work in its basic model.. of the people for the people by the people. there is room for hindu-democratic nepal just as there is a scope for secular-democratic nepal. Jaasus what is wrong in letting people decide? why are u afraid of the people? u are definitely not for dictatorship. you just want democracy where u find it convineint. You are propogating a democratic system that refuses to hear the voices of people on certain issues- a discriminatory system. The hindu system does not have to be discriminatory. we can have anti-descrimination law to counter the "hindu" discrimination concerns. the two can coexist. ofcouse, secular system can work as well. But let all sides come front and let the people be the ultimate decider. Netas can make sure system is fair to all. But leave the decision making to the people. how many people, one more time???? how many agree/disagree?
I have never proposed discriminations based on caste and religion so let us not go where we have not gone so far. Nepal is already a secular country because of politics, not because of Nepalese themselves. I know ur view point jassus. I am not too sure about the rest of Nepal. Not convinced about 40% either. If nepalese want nepal to be secular. great. i am all up for it. separation of religion and state is great. but if they want nepal to be hindu kingdom, so be it. if all agreed on this secular idea there would be no commotion. the fact that people are discontent is making all this noise. the question is how many people are discontent? that is democracy.. it works in freedom and in numbers. why are u afraid jassus why are u afraid to throw the ball to the peoples' side? why are u hiding behind a legislation that was passed by some? if nepalese want hindu-nation, lets go for it, if secularism is the answer so be it. But people please.. people

livewire,

I do not know you personally, so I have no right to project you as of anyform. Sorry if I have made you feel that I knowingly or unknowingly tried to portrary you as a fundamentalist. I am supporting Secularism NOT because I am afraid that the country will return to Hinduism. Personally, I am Buddhist raised in Hindu tradition, I have nothing to lose. It is not that Nepal is going to develop in one night if she becomes secular, but one thing is for sure, if we return to Hinduism, it will send the strong message that the harmony and tolerance that we believed existed between people of all faiths was nothing but a lie.

Nepal shouldnot have been made Secular at this sensitive phase, that was the first mistake that politicians made, and returning back to Hinduism will be the second mistake that people will make. Nothing will happen, it will be what it was few months back ....... but the scar will always remain. The whole cycle will be nothing but the TEST how tolerant hindus are.

People have been making their own speculations about the percentage of 'hindus' and 'non-hindus' among various ethnic groups in Nepal. Many have claimed that Newars are predominantly buddhists (without any resonable grounds). I think that the following detailed data will clear up any false and baseless ideas (which many of us are erroneously claiming to be the real picture).

Census 2001

The overall summary showing the percentages of major religions in Nepal is available on the site of National Planning commission, npc.gov.np.

However, this detailed data showing the percentage of hindus in each ethnic group can be obtained from the "National Census of Nepal 2001 CD" which was produced by the Central Bureau of Statistics of His Majesty's Government of Nepal. The source of the aforementioned data is the same CD.

It can be clearly seen that the percentage of hindus in some ethnic groups is very low. Only 7.69% of TAMANGS, 3.02% of SHERPAS, 21.06% of RAIS, 8.53% of LIMBUS and 24.51% of GURUNGS are HINDUS. Among these, only the TAMANGS form a sizeable ethnic minority.

However this is not true for the NEWARS. 91.63% of the NEWARS are hindus, which is a very significant majority.
