No voices were raised against 'Nepal being a Hindu country ' in any of the peoples movement in Nepal. Then why these bloody politicians decides to amend the constitution to make Nepal a secular state? I am pretty much sure if people were informed that the Jan Andolan would make the country a secular one, the streets of Kathmandu would not have been flooded with people during the Aandolan..
Politicians talk of respecting people's voice. They then do not have the right to amend the constitution to make a decision on the matter that was not voiced by people. There was nothing wrong with Nepal as Hindu country...If we want to change this, there should be referendum for that. Bloody politicians, killers do not deserve any right to decide against people's aspiration.
Hinduism basically is not the religion, its a culture. It respects all religions...we never had any religious dispute in the country. When things were going smoothly with that whywas the need for change?

We can all give our opinion. See even by discussion we cannot solve this problem. The best solution would have been referrendum. Let people decide on their own.

Who are those corrupt and criminal people? Where they live? what they do? Are they still working in government offices of Nepal and overseas?

bidhan,
these are the basic principles of democracy, to treat everyone same. Referendum doesnot work in this aspect bcoz we all know what is going to be the winner. If referendum worked all the democratic countries would represent some kind of relegion. Is US secular because majority wanted her to be secular ???

Sorry jasus don't take it personally.
If you truly follow buddhism of course you become sahdu ni haina? otherwise what 's the point?
anyways aina ma here anuhar matrai dekhiyo stupid cha chaina chai dekhiyena.
Etua example diu : tibetan haru buddhist nabhayera tanna military bhayeko bhaye china le sajilai lina sakthiyo hola? think about it. you have to have ideological conviction to fight a war. When your conviction is that of non-violence at any cost you loose.

what about US. Why do we have to look upto US. they have their own axe to grind.
After all nobody was forced to follow hindu religion. Everybody was living peacefully before. Now see Nepal is starting to get divided on the ground of religion , ethinicity and god knows what.

Secularism should be on practice like it was in before rather than just in name.

I WOULD RATHER PREFER HINDU COUNTRY WITH SECULARISM IN PRACTICE RATHER THAN SECULAR COUNTRY WITH RELIGIOUS VIOLENCE.

bidhan,

I told you earlier too. I do support your ideas. But the root problem is the issue shouldnot have been raised, now only option we have is to give it a shape.

If we believe that voilence is inevitable just because of this issue, it shows Nepalese are not ready for democracy, Nepal needs Autocratic system with strict law and order.

Birbhadra, do you believe Tibetians could have defended chinese expansion if they were not buddhists ??? If you were true tamils would have easily taken srilanka too.

When our king was fine with the term 'Hindu kingdom' nobody had objection. Now so called SPA and terrorist Maoists forced the country to accept their disregard for our national religion and now all the trouble started...and seems to get worse.

To whom it may concern!

Since he was protected by the so-called avatar of Bishnu shield, why would he have problem with the term 'Hindu Kingdom'.

Have you thought of that?

You want to keep Nepal to a "pre-village" level where no commoner gets education so that you can maintain an easier control over the virtual Nepalese slaves, where the only agenda of the crown is survival of luxury and lust while there are nano-channels linking the body of each individual Nepalese to the self-proclaimed Gods' palaces where not the buck but the blood stops.

French Revolution must be made a compulsory course for college youth in Nepal. There is so much to learn about establishing a democratic society. You royalists made Nepalese not to get visa to any country in the world not even Bangladesh and Ethiopia.
Is that your pride being a Nepali?

If Nepal continues to be a Hindu Kingdom then my Buddhist friends will have to continue to lie on the 'Lok Sewa Aayog job application' that they are Hindus to get fair treatment.

You want to rule Nepal with deceit, don't you? When people really rise and hell breaks loose, people like you will not just be hanged and lynched but also the remains that "survived' will be instantly taken with a grand procession directly to a mortar where the bones will be crushed till they become as fine as baby milk powder.

Picture that!

ritthe_jasus, I don't know how to make you understand. I was us trying to point out the possibility of rise of religious fundamentalism like in India. Just look at what is happening in terai. This is going to happen for sure. And writing something like "groups like Shiva sena are flourishing and gaining more space in India because people there are dumb, people in Nepal are not that dumb, so it won't happen here", is the biggest joke that I have ever heard. This proves that u urself are dumb and are not able to see the reality.

Have you read the recent "himal' khabar patrika? If not, there is an article which describes an event in Saptari district---- Around 400 Madhesi youth were being trained by 'Bajrang Dal' (of course from India) in a village near the shasastra base camp of Barmajiya. They were being trained in carrying out an armed hindu revolution if required. The officials at the base camp just ignored it. When asked by the reporter about the possibility of rise of hindu fundamentlism, they just laughed off saying that its loktantra and anyone is free to do whatever they like :-).

Just get out of your 'Kathmandu centered' narrow vision. Nepal is there beyond kathmandu as well, and 49% of its population lives in Terai. You just can't ignore the facts by saying that these things can happen only in India and not in Nepal. Just travel to the interiors of Terai once, especially in the regions lying south of the east-west highway and tell me if you can show any differences between India and Nepal in any aspect.

samir,

Dude, yes I am from Kathmandu, but I have been to more parts of Nepal than you might have even heard. I have seen their life, their misery. By all ur articles u seem to be from terai, have you been to himali regions ??? people live worst life than terai people. There are parts where people haven't even seen vehicles yet. It is rediculous, when stereotype people like you assume, all people of kathmandu donot know anything besides kathmandu. This is the voice of handful of people who come to kathmandu from outside. If you blame kathmanduites like this, there may be people in villages, who haven't even crossed 50 km radius around them.

By all this postings, directly or indirectly it can be concluded that Nepal is not ready for democracy. Democracy is an absolute term, if we cannot accomplish the basic tenet of democracy to treat everyone equal, what more can be expected out of it ???

Nepalese are still behaving like ' १२ बर्ष बाँधेर राखेको गोरु ', they still needs to be tied up with stricts rule. We need someone like Saddam, Democracy is turning out to be curse for Nepal.
