Here We go,

NCAA footballl season kicked off just A week before the NFl did.

We had already seen some major Upsets. Like the losses of Auburn Tigers and Oklahoma Sooners. there are some new and Exciting players as well as teams. Sure, Spurrier Dynasty part II had begun in USC. Urban Meyer is upto new adventues in Sunshine state. CHarlie Weis is trying to mimic the success of NE PAts in Notre Dame and T. Willlingham is up West in Washington. and Most Importantly Pete Caroll is going for 3peat just like the NE pats are in the NFl.

Bring your stuffs here and lets get the NCAA season going.

Good luck

Go Texas (Go Sooners--- might not get to play in the BCS championship game because of the early loss and the past failures in back to back years. Still, they should give a good run.)

proud bro, thanx for starting the thread on college football. It?s nos uprising to see you jump on Horns bandwagon. OSU vs Horns was a sloppy game. I don?t think both team deserves their high ranking. Horn is a one man game and OSU coach seems lost this year, seems Clarett saga took toll on him. Got no confidence on 2-0 Buffs and Eagles yet???

We will know on October how good of a coach Weis is. That team hasn?t seen dominating defense like Purdue and USC yet. I am not sold on them yet.

Huskers is the team to beat on Big 12 South conf :p it will be sad to see Wannstedt go 0-3 to start his career as Panthers coach. I used to like a coach when he was with Dolphins. Can?t support his tam while playing against Huskers ;)

Can someone please beat USC, i am tired of hearing them at work :s I don't want to see them going for three-peat

UCLA vs Sooners will be a good match up this weekend. Gators vs Vols is the game of the week, this game will decide who will win the SEC East title.

Thanx proudnepali for starting this thread. It has indeed been very exciting couple of weeks. Big teams like OU, Michigan, Auborn going down. ND looks a very different team this year and it's a good news for all who want to see USC go down. My prediction is USC will see defeat this year from ASU or ND, maybe both.

LSU is in pretty good shape this year and we are set to kick some a$$es.

Go Tigerssssssss.

proud Nepali..
what you talking about Spurrer Dynasty (part 2)..he was never a good coach...You can call Bobby Bowden a good coach compare to him.

Phillip Fulmer is the coach and this is his" DYNASTY" Tennessee got 2 tough game on the road. one with Gator Hater and other one with LSU and after that they will decide .
"Go Volunteers"

Himalaya bro, "You surprise me Man."

How can College Football ever forget what Steve Spurrier did in Florida. he basically owned the SEC then. Now he is in a New mission. It might be 2-3 years from now but he wil make some Force out of the South Carolina gamecocks.

Hey Ax, take it easy my man, I never said the Buffs or the Eagles will go to the National Title game. Buffs to me shall be happy with 8-4 season (that's a high prediction) and Eagles shall fair little better, I give them 9-3. Colorado came into play when we were debating about Nebraska football in 04. Sure the Buffs are 2-0 but it will be a real surprise for them to finish in top 25 this season.

LongHorns travelling to Columubus to play Buckeyes was the Game of the WEEk and its anticipation was amongs the best in recent memories. That was a Historical game. Surely, when two great teams take the field you won't expect a Basketball Score like fiesta. V. Young & CO. got the job done nevertheless.

I don't expect Note Dame to finish within top 10 this year. But yes Charlie Weis had opened some eyes early on. Wait.... Wow.. so you think Michigan is not a good team?? Michigan is Not better than Purdue??? Michigan not a dominating team?? Come on Man (AX) you know better than that. Michigan was ranked #3 going to the game against the Irish. Now they are out of top 10 picture. yet, I think Notre Dame will require couple of years (probabl) to get into national championship contenders list. Still, they will make some noise this year. Weis got Brady (Quinn).. :)

yeah Big 12 North is up for grasp since the most competitive conference of all in College football i.e Big 12 South is full of Power packed teams. And I am ASSUMING you know well that NEbraska DOnt bELONG TO BIG 12 SOuth.. they belong to Big 12 North. Colorado-Iowa state (after they smoked Iowa)-Nebraska one of them shall win the North this year.

And oh yeah, Huskers are upto a good start. But who else in COllege Football History has better advantage of playing more games at home than the Nebraska CornHuskers?? woow 5 games at home what a way to begin the season. And now don't tell me Playing at Home is not a major advantage. Ask Donovan Mcnabb, he had trouble calling the plays from Shot Gun Formations agains the Falcons in Georgia Dome. He had to burn few timeouts.

But anyways, I don't have high expectations for Nebraska like you do. And SEC is still a competitve conference. Just that hey lost too many great players to the nFL drafts.
I stay within BIG 12. I don't Count out the Sooners yet. LongHorns are still in there. last year I was rooting for longhorns to be ranked #4, and yes they did play like one. This year, they are upto a greater mission and see how it goes. Vince Young is not that great of a passer but he will overcome those defencies with his legs.

True that USC trojans are amongst the luckiest teams in NCAA football. I hope UCLA-ND-ASU one of them or all of them should knock them out. Still, I cannot deny the fact that they might be the team to beat. they play in weaker conference and agaisnt the weaker teams but they make the best out of their opportunities. Well, I am not a great fan oF Trojans football, so I expect them to lose anytime sooon.... which might just be A wish and not a reality. We will see.

It's enjoyable to hear from all of you.
keep up the good work.

Go Sooners/longhorns/ Big 12

ProudNepali,

I can't say I am too proud of you after reading your message. BCS determines who the national champ is. LSU was the BCS CHAMP in 2003. How can you still say USC is trying for 3 peat when they never won 2003 BCS Championship? Ameliorate your knowledge before you comment!!

Nonetheless, thanks for starting COLLEGE FOOTBALL thread. I love it.

That's right Short Circuit , USC never won the 2003 BCS championship. They were voted number one on the AP and coaches poll at the end of the regular season, and LSU was 2 and Choklahoma was 3. But when the final BCS ranking came out, it was Oklahoma that was number one and LSU number 2 and USC number 3. LSU went and laid the ass whuping on the Sooners in the Sugar Bowl and USC beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl.. AP(retarded media folks) gave its AP Championship to USC and LSU got the real championship, the BCS Crystal Ball.

It never ceases me to amaze me that people forget that for 3-peat BCS Championship, USC has to win this year and next year too. If USC wants to claim three-peat this year Auburn should also claim People's Champion last year. Oh wait..We did actually..and Tommy Tuberville made rings for all the boys too.LOL

Maybe you guys are confused

OR i am mistaken.

Lsu Played Oklahoma for the official BCS championship game.
LSU beat OU.
THen there was a controversy about USC being left out of top 2 ranks.
USC beat Michigan in their Bowl game but COntroversial BCS ranking went off hands.
So, they were forced to "Recognize" USC Trojans as the College champs of 03-04. Yes, I watched both games. ANd I totally understand what "Stirs" you guys. That is totally acceptable. Just want to let you guys know 'USC' & 'LSU' shared the National Title that year.

The controversy heated up because USC was ranked #1 by AP and ESPN-USA today polls (HUman Polls), however the Computer ranking systems had very low points for USC, so when all three polls were accounted USC fell to Number 3 behind Oklahoma and LSU. But then, AP polls writers who voted for USC to be #1, had the opporunity to vote USC (by virute of USC beating Michigan in Rose BOWL) as the National champion team and they just did that. However, the COACHES were contractually Bounded to Vote for the Sugar Bowl Winner (LSU). Yet 3 coaches violated the rules and voted for USC. That was another controversy. That way LSU tigers got their share of National Championship title. NEver before had 3 BCS series teams gone undefeated. But LSU-OU-USC all went undefeated that season. And as well all Know, the BCS had been criticized sharply every now and then. They had modified the Ranking systems. Computer rankings don't account for that big part of the rankings anymore. That was a year of Controversy. And, I always had this question "IF MICHIGAN Wolverines had beaten USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl, would ANyone have questioned about MICHIGan being the NATIonal Champion as well?" I never heard anyone bringing that thoughts out. How about it will the history BOOk mention Michigan as the team that played for National Title (their opponent USC surely did)?

I hope I did my best to clarify the Mess. If somone else has better explanation then please come up with it.

Thanks for your time guys.
GO Sooners-longhorns/Big 12

PS: I didn't mention USC going for 3peat because I lacked any knowledge of BCS history, I mentioned it because I believe I understand what came after all the controversies. Now, I hope people understand what I am trying to say here. English is confusing sometimes.

ProudNepali,

I understand what you mean. Media started talking about USC and 3-peat before you did, so it's not your fault. But being good citizens, we should respect what the truth is. And the truth is it's BCS that determines the national champ. LSU was one in 2003. That's about it.

Who do you think will be the CHAMP this year? USC, Texas and LSU have legitimate shots. I just hope that LSU improves its defensive scheme going into its second game.

unkown asked "Are you UNL's alumni or student now "
>> No :=) lived in NE for 5 years though.

I think this is the first time I agree with Proud :) Produ bro USC did win last 2 national championships..... USC was crowned co-championship in 03-04 season. The reason they came up with the BCS idea was not to have a controversy about the National Championship. After 03-04 season, everybody realized BCS is not working, they trying to revamped it still no luck. I think BCS can not use AP Poll Top 25 from this year...... BCS are trying to recruit old coaches and ADs for the voting panel, don't know what happened to that plan.......... if someone knows the whole stroy, please share.......... so far as I know there are still three POLLS - USA Today, AP and BCS. I heard also about Harris Poll, don't know much about it :)

Carnell and SC, are you guys trying to say that next NE Governer Osborne didn't win 3 championships?

SC asked "Who do you think will be the CHAMP this year?"
>>> Hopefully BIG RED from NE :D if not LONGHORNS (gotta root for your conf ;) they gotta play much better than last week. It's one man show..... if he gets injured, that team will have hard time even with Baylor :)

outside BIg 12........ I like Purdue and Utah (some love for mountain west :p)

someone gotta beat USC kyaaaaaaaa, dikka banai sakyo kaam ma..... i don't see them losing though :s

UCS was AP National Champion and LSU was BCS National Champion and both were deserving National Champion in 2003. For "BCS" National Champion USC still has to win this year and next year. So that is that. Plain and simple.

But where in world this Spiky got the information that LSU-OKlahoma-USC went undefeated in 2003!!!! Let me quote you on that...

***NEver before had 3 BCS series teams gone undefeated. But LSU-OU-USC all went undefeated that season. And as well all Know, the BCS had been criticized sharply every now and then***

LOL..English or any kind of langauge do get confusing when you do not have your fact straight. ..Maybe you are still hungover from 2004 when Auburn-Oklahoma-USC went undefeated for the first time in BCS history when all they had three BCS teams that had unblemished record at the end of the regular season. In 2003, LSU lost to Gators in the regular season, USC lost to Cal in regular season and lol..how can you forget lowly Kansas State laid a ass whupping on Jason White and Choklahoma on Big 12 Conference Championship game. Actually the whole BCS mess started due to the fact that Oklahoma lost to Kansas state in the conference championship game and still made it to Sugar Bowl for BCS championship. Anyways, whatever you are smoking , it is having wonderful effect on you Johnny boy.If you are not smoking, then do some google and and verify it before putting up a whole lot info in the public forum that does not make a didley squat. Try learning French;)

I am glad that AP(media morons) and ESPN decided to pull out of BCS component of its ratings and run themselves into insignificance. BCS still has 6 computers as its one third components and Coaches poll and a new BCS panel makes other two thirds of components for its ratings.

After Mighty SEC, I think ACC is fast establishing itself as a super conference. With induction of Miami and Virginia Tech last year and Boston College this year, they are one of the exciting conference now. Perrenial national powers like Florida State, Virginia Tech and Miami will only make ACC better. Georgia Tech is also fast rising as 4th major team in ACC. With them splitting the conference into two divisons and having a Championship game means they are going to give SEC run for its money in terms of viewership and revenue as both conference are mainly being in Southern States.

If I were to rank the 6 BCS conferences in terms of fan base, competitiveness and revenues their school generate, that would be

1. SEC (No doubt No question)
2. Big Ten (close 2nd to SEC)
3. Big 12 and ACC( with revamped conference alignment)
4. Pac 10
5. Big (L)east ( ACC raided the best schools out of this conference or else ACC deserved to be here)

Eventhough I hate LSU, I think National Champion would be LSU..but they have some issues with its defense..but ..man they are loaded in both sides.

War Eagle!!!

Carnell You are right,

BCS got into controversy last season as well. I got mixed up in the 03 and 04 seasons (what a Holy Mess.. I shall get Burnt for that). However, BCS been criticized year after year. If you don't agree with that then I have nothing to discuss with you on this NCAA football matter.

In 03, all those teams lost 1 games each. None went undefeated. Two non BCS schools (Miami University and Boise State) also had one losses each.
And oF course last year USC-OU-AU went undefeated. ANd lots of people thouhgt AU deserved to play USC for the BCS championship.

By the way, I think we are all talking about National Championships. Mr. Stubborn I don't remember Mentioning USC as the BCS champion of 03!!! THe history books Prinit them as the Co-2003 National Champions. Like it or not that's the truth. Last year they did it with No controversy (even though Auburn Nation had bitter feelings about Being left out from the National Title shares.) And with 05 season On... I guess the Trojans are going for 3 in a row BOB.

Short Circuit Brother: Looking at the strength of the schedule : USC has the easiest way out. The teams that might give them some trouble are Oregon (sep24),Arizona State (Oct. 1), ND(Oct. 15), California (Nov. 12), and UCLA (Dec. 3). I still believe USC can beat all these teams. I have to wait and see how all these teams do down the road.

Texas and Oklahoma both belong to BIG 12 SOuth, and that is one of the most competitive conference in all of DIV IA football. Texas survived the Litmust Test at Columbus gainst Ohio state Buckeyes. Of Course the big game will be against Sooners. However, don't forget Okalhoma state cowboys, and two other teams from Texas (The Big 12teams) they don't go away without fights. I think Texas will survive all their opponents.. except for OU. We will have to wait and See.

Oklahoma already lost to TCU. Their Next biggest challenge wil be against Texas on October 8th. Talking of challenge, UCLA will be good team to play against. The Sooners have to pick up their game sooner than later. They Beat Tulsa convincingly but they have to establish some consistency in the passing game. A. Pederson alone cannot carry the whole load when they have to play Better teams. A. Pederson might RUnawya with Heisman this year. Watch out. Oh, AX bro can't wait to see SOOners travelling to play Nebraska. I am sure that will be a very Important game for both teams if they both go undefeated by then (Tryign to Say if OU don't lose another game.)

As of SEC: TENNESSEE and LSU might be the teams to watch out for this season. GIven that this is another competitive conference, they might nullify their chances of winning the nationl title by losing to one of their own conference Rivals.
Tennessee will be tested by Florida this weekend. That will be a BIG game. Then the following weekend they will play the LSU tigers. (LSU VS Tennn, will sound similar to OU vs TExas). But again the Vols. have to play Georgia Bull dogs (oct. 8), and at Notre Dame (Nov. 15). So, it's a long season for the Vols.

LSU willl have no easy way out since they will be playing the SEC teams for most of the season. Sep 24 against Tennessee, Nov. 6 against Florida, and Oct. 12 against AUburn, all these games will be tough for them.

I will have No problems if LSU wins the National Championship this year. That will be a GOOD Relief for hundreds of thousands of People who have been suffering since Hurrican Katrina Tooks its toll. While they are a very good team, I don't really think they are a National Championship team this year.

I think Texas will play USC for the national title game and eventually win it. Texas might lose to OU, still they will make it to number 2 in rankings if they don't lose another game. I am assuming there won't be 3 undefeated teams by the end of the season. Again I haven't given up on OU sooners yet. But for that I will have to wait for other contenders to lose thier games first. THis should be another interesting season.

I will be happy as long as USC don't end up with another National Title.

Aight,
Go Sooners/longhornss/Big12

USC may win the national championship this year or next ten years in a row, thats none of my concern. But, keeping aside the love of media for USC and Pac10 as such, USC was by no means the national champion of 2003. Considering USC as the national champions of 2003 is like considering Al Gore as the president of US from 2000 to 2004. Whatever was the flaw in the system is a fair question, but you don't change the rules of the game in the middle of the game.

Spiky...if you can not comprehend BCS National Champion and Ap National Champion then stay ignorant. Where did you find me saying USC was not a Co-National Champion in 2003? . I didn't say BCS is not critisized every year. It is very unrealistic way to rate the teams by computers and human polls. Human polls are always baised and computers are only good as the program fed into it by humans. But that is the system we have in hand and wether we like it or not and it will be there unless college football also adopts NFL style playoff system which will never happen as there are just too many interest groups associated with 4 traditional bowls, Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta and the college presidents get a big chunk out it even if the school only make it to one of them fours bowl.

I have absolutely no problem USC being three time "National" Champion (Not BCS National Champion, as you have hard time understanding French..errr..English) if they win this year, just like I have no problem Choklahoma getting to National Championship this year too and getting ass kicked THREE times in a row in the prime time National Televison ;) My bitterness for Auburn being screwed stayed only upto NFL draft day..go figure.

Big 12 south divison is pretty competitive but as these words being written, that is NOT the "most " competitive divison(not conference btw), may be one of the competitive divisons. SEC East has 3 TEAMS in top SEVEN ranking right now. How many big 12 south has in top 10? One..;) TexASS..

It seems we all want USC to lose but which team is going to beat them? California ain't as good as this year. If UCLA loses this weekend, we won't be talking about them anymore, we all saw how good ASU is, Arizona is few years away. The only hope I see his Notre Dame and I don't think they are complete team yet.

This team is as talented as they were last year. Leinart-Bush-White-Smith is still the core of this team. Help me out my frens gimme a team name who are better talented then this team so I can make Trojans fans quiet at work :=)

Question for you guys though, how can UCLA be 7 points favorite to Chokolohoma(as Carnell likes to say p) when they are not even ranked top 25.

good test for Notre Dame program. they always have problem when facing Michigan State. I think Coach Davie and Ty had losing record to Spartans.

anybody cares for Bama vs South Carolina??? I hope Bama will score gizillion points against SC :D

I found how good of a Utah team is, they lost the OT game to TCU last nite :=)
