I was stunned to see this pic
Text that goes with this pic:

Well, if people throw pieces of bricks and rocks against the policemen, they are law enforcement officers, no one should do that and if you do that, that's exactly the way they end up (as shown in the photograph) and getting beaten up by the heavily armed policemen.

These people should not throw pieces of bricks and rocks at policemen, they should fire guns at the policemen...he he he he he.

Highfly..

Look, the facts are very simple. 12 yr. old kids should not be in mass rallies, violent demostrations and riots in the first place. The responsible parents should not have had even allowed this kid anywhere near the demostrations and riots or sites and streets where violence is brewing up. Any responsible demostration organizer and responsible participants should have had strictly kept out this kid (not only this kid but any young kids) anywhere near demonstrations and violent riots where violence are very probable.

Even, if this kid were a innocent by-passer, naturally 12 yr. old kid is conscious enough to stay clear of streets or sites where violence is brewing and he is responsible and should have done this for his own safety.

In the height of the clash in the crowd, hardly anyone gets spared, nor does anyone involved in the clash has time and opportunity to care what might happen to anyone the next second.

If I were charging and clearing the frontline of battlefield, do you expect me to be spare you if you walk cross the front line of battlefield with the full knowledge (or at least an expectation) that you might get shot in the the height of firefight in a battle ?

Kids should not be anywhere near violent demonstarations. Iif they want to participate in violent demonstartions, they should not fight the heavily armed policemen by throwing pieces of bricks and rocks at policemen, they better fire guns at policemen...he he he he he he

I agree with Netajee. Where were his parents? what they were doing?
Well saying that we cannost just blindeye how police have acted.
Any way we all know how ill prepared Nepal Police is?
here is a joke on nepal police.

The FBI, Scotland Yard, and the Nepal police were all participating in the Police Olympics. One of the tasks was set in Africa; each agency had to find a lion and bring it back to the base in the shortest amount of time.

The first team out were the Americans. They rushed out of the headquarters fully strapped with their high-tech tracking equipment, and they came back with a lion in an hour and a half. Next out was Scotland Yard - the Brits sent a team of their best men armed with the most recent intelligence, and came back with a lion in just over an hour.

Finally, the Nepal police team went out. An hour passed, another hour... After a full day of waiting for the Nepali team, the other two teams went out to look for them. The rescue squads came upon a small shack in the jungle, which they entered. Inside the found a zebra tied to a chair, and the Nepal Police scraming: "Admit it! We know you are a lion!"

Whats up with the jokes and Swati these days? Hmmmmmmmmmm Joke mania? :p.. Good goin. It's a nice joke, heard it b4.

Someone in one of the threads was asking abt the jokes..if u check sajha humor section and just browse thru few websites, u would find atleast 75% of the same jokes over there. :)
************************************************************8

Regarding the pic, its a very sad situation Poor boy. He was at the wrong place , at the wrong time. I understand what neetaji and swati are stating, but having said that, i feel the police had to be more careful. After all it was just a 12 yrs old boy. He could have been a khatey, a homeless boy who ran awayf rom home, coz he cud not have enuff to eat, perhaps sauteni ama le nikaldine ( happens a lot, i have met more than coupla kids who left their home coz of it), or simply could not live in village coz of fear of maoist taking him away. Now, tell me how can he've a protection, guidance, love of parents for him to understand/or stay away from the chaos.

We see everyone from our own EYEs ( like one song goes, phool ko ankha le herda sansaar phool jastoo, kaada ko ankhaa le herda kaada jastai... something like that). Its too easy to ask questions, like "Where were his parents? what they were doing?" or stating "Look, the facts are very simple. 12 yr. old kids should not be in mass rallies, violent demostrations and riots in the first place. " But not every one are fortunate enough to have a caring/loving and protective parents like ours. And the fact that the kid was there doesn't give RIGHTS to beat him mercilessly ( just look how far the cop has taken his Danda, damn, one shot and it can break a bone or two), perhaps a lil push, or a shout, a slap, or even a kick... but not hitting with that big stick. For god's sake, he is just a KID.

Huna ta bhanne kura matra ho.. tara pani, bacha lai pitnu ta alik atti nai bhayo... baru alik adult chor Ja*Ha haru jo khali dhunga muda barsauna.. tention dinu aune lai chai diye huncha dana daan.

One more joke about Nepal Police.
-----------------------------------------

My cousin bro. is far more older(may be not less than 21 years older) than me currently working as one of the Deputy Inspector Generals (D.I.G.) in Nepal Police Force. He was D.S.P. when he was once posted in KTM so many years ago. He would visit us very often because my dad is very dear to him (my dad's "bhaatijo").

Though he was far more senior to me in age I often played tricks and made fun of him. One day I played some nasty tricks to him.

In anger he, yelled at and asked me, "where the heck is your brain? " ?
I answered to him, "At Police Headquarters, Naxxsal" In fact, it was a nasty and sarcastic way to tell any policemen that their brains always remain at the Police Headquarters therefore they are dumb blunt.

Aba humour ko kuro ayi ra rahicha. I once read this book produced by Nepal police about "how to pass police officer exam" or somehing like that. One question asked for definition of POLICE. And the readymade answe3r given in the book was:

P= polite
O= obidient
L= loving
blah blah blah

Well, from the photograph, it is hard to tell if he a kid without parents or not, but it is really fuuny to know that you came upon a conclusion that this kid is infact a street kid with no parents or gardians. From your claim at least, it looks like you have got a "clairvoyant" type of mystical power by which you tell that the kid was a sadak balak....and it sounds ..really funny to me.

Anyway, it is the basic natural instict of any conscious human being (regardless of wether he is a sadak balak or not) to get as far away as possible from the trouble spot. Even if his parents (if they ever existed) were badly irresponsible, he has got brains that can decide where not be at the time of the brewing trouble.

Well, there could be many spectulations on why this kid was in the trouble spot and received some taato(hot) taato(hot) Police Ko Danda, in this case it appears as if he willfully headed for the disaster if not, he badly underestimated the potential of getting caught in the mess therefore "Curiousity Killed the Cat."

Police personal pani manchee nai ho..dungha mudaa garee ra jyaan nai jookhim ma paryaa belaa situation too tense hunchaa...tes bela ..keta na ket..buda paka na tanneri...sablai thook dinchaan...so the best thig is to stay clear of potential trouble spots.

By the way, as REVIVAL mentioned, this kid would probably never show up at bandas and julus in future. He must have learned the lesson of his life...ha ha ha ha ..

neta ji, my first response was aimed at remarks blaming the kid's parents. What if the kid was homeless and without proper education? And i hope u know the difference between conclusion and assumption ("kun chahi le uksayo hola"). Yesma yehalai lamba chauda byakhya garera samjhauna jaruri nahola. Hasnu nai cha bhane hasi rahanu hola.

"it is the basic natural instict of any conscious human being (regardless of wether he is a sadak balak or not) to get as far away as possible from the trouble spot"

go n tell that to a homeless kid. he may not listen to you and may want to do something extra to earn some money.

what more can u expect form an ill trained officer and an uneducated child....Raat ma nasha ma dubne prahari bata jyan jogaunu nai thulo kura ho...hope the boy learned the lesson...doesnt mean that our police force shud be filled with such officers who dont distinguish between a child n an adult.

Well, even if I assume the kid was homeless (therefore no parentws to take care of him) and lets say he participated into the riot to make some extra money with the full acknowledgement (or at least expectation) that he might end up getting beaten up (or getting killed) then I dont see much reason to question the RIOT POLICE and put sympathy on the kid.

The kid did his job of throwing the rocks at the police and the RIOT POLICE did it's job of controling the violent crowd.

The RIOT POLICE, by the very name itself is meant to control violent and unruly crowd by using brute force. Violence, haste, dis-order is the indespensible part of their job then why should I expect any RIOT POLICE personnel to discriminate between the adult and kid in the situation of haste, violence and dis-order.

I guess the kid jumped into the hot frying pan despite the full knowledge that the fring pan is really hot. The kid got fried in the hot frying pan. RIOT POLICE is the frying pan in this case.

The kid is lucky...he did not get shot from point blank range...if any of the officers involved were enraged and blunt enough, they could have had shot him dead.

After all , in the height of the Maoist war it wouldnt be hard for the police to claim that the kid was a Maoist kid trying to infiltrate the demostration and cause some serious terrorist act. Maoist have recruited very young school going kids all over the country and it makes easier for the police to support their claim (even if it were true or not).

The police would close the file and no one do a thing about it.

Case solved....ha ha ha ...

"The kid did his job of throwing the rocks at the police and the RIOT POLICE did it's job of controling the violent crowd. "
---------------> The pic doesn't show that. He could have been stuck there. Wrong place at the wrong time. If not anything, give him the benefit of doubt.

"The RIOT POLICE, by the very name itself is meant to control violent and unruly crowd by using brute force. Violence, haste, dis-order is the indespensible part of their job then why should I expect any RIOT POLICE personnel to discriminate between the adult and kid in the situation of haste, violence and dis-order. "

-------------> Agreed, they should not be expected to DISCRIMINATE. I hope you use this word for some other better purpose as well. You seem to be settled in ur point of view and judgement. But think about it, what if the kid was ACTUALLY an innocent victim, just being at the wrong place. Would u not feel for him? Not even a lil bit? I bet u do, somewhere inside. Common we are humans afta all. Esp. coz the pic only shows a CHILD being/abt to be hit by a trained police with a huge stick. It could be FATAL as well. Lets us not close our eyes on the possibilities of fatalities caused by such beatings or perhaps some physical diability.

"I guess the kid jumped into the hot frying pan despite the full knowledge that the fring pan is really hot. The kid got fried in the hot frying pan. RIOT POLICE is the frying pan in this case. "

----------------------> Do u really think so? He had full knowledge of what he was getting into? Please consider the fact----> He barely seems to in his teens, if at all. Now we all know what sound a judgement we all make at that age. Are u not denying a child his right to, well... "to be a child", by simply giving him a benefit of doubt regarding his judgement. Commonnnnnnnnn... a kid at that age can not really make a REASONABLE judgement like an adult can.

I do agree about the pressure on police, the risk they take, the protection they have to give, with fully understanding there are some bad apples within them as well. But they risk their life and their families safety, for what? , a mere few thousand rupees. For most of the people living abord, it would amount to mere day's works pay, if not hrs. They deserve respect and we have to understand their situation as well. But in this specic situation, my friend, you got to give to that kid.

If anything, that picture captured a moment that took away a child in him, perhaps. Of all the beauties in life, don't u think a beautiful childhood is most that we miss most? I hope that kid is safe and does not have any permanent damage/ scars, both physically/mentally.

To respect of humanity and knowledge of peace to US ( Nepalese)
