When i was a kid (or when i was in Nepal), i used to believe in God. I did however have reservations on religion but i still believed in God. Its been a year in US now and having met people from other cultures, the existence of a supreme being doesnt make sense anymore.

I think that believeing in GOd instills in a person faith, confidence and positivity to get through good times and be appreciative of the bad ones. I want my children to have these qualities so i dont want to tell them that GOd doesnt exist. Moreover, i cant imagine what my parents/relatives will make of me when i talk to them about this. It isnt going to be pretty.

It does give me great discomfort to think about all this. I must admit i feel less confident and more pessimistic these days. I want to believe in God but my logic doesnt give in anymore. In fact, i get irritated when i hear things like "God COMMANDED you to.." "GOd will PUNISH you if..", "We are SERVANTS in from of Him" "(on Christianity): "Jesus died on the cross for you"(THere are many who have made a similar magnitude of sacrifice).

I think that God and religion are ancient theories that havent been discarded yet. And it hasnt due to the fear in people of what might happen if they didnt. One of my teachers once said "if there is no god and you believe in god, there is no harm but if there is god and you dont believe in god, there is harm". i feel this and cultural and social stigmas lead people to be religious and not question their beliefs.

I wanna know what you guys make of this.

Default061,

I don't understand why you're so confused. It seems quite simple and straight forward to me. Which part of the question that I asked before your post didn't you understand?

 Homey,
I was not confused with your question. I am just confused of whether or not to believe in god. I cant believe totally and I cant ignore either.

In the post above, I wrote:
Those who have not found any object that consistently satisfies them, naturally, should not believe in God.

Default01,
Have you found any object that has consistently satisfied you so far in your life? If you have not, you have not found God. And so, to be consistent with your discoveries, you should not believe in God.

*Please don't fake it till you make it, like some people who want to pass themselves as spiritualists do. This won't help anyone, especially you. Don't practice religion to just be fashionable, just because your friends are doing it.*

Don't over-complicate things. Keep it simple. And be true to yourself. And you won't be confused.

This debate is going nowhere and most probably won't.
Lets deal with the facts.

Some of the things, that I feel(if you go through my posts above):
- I don't believe non of your religious god and belief
- I believe in one extra super intelligence or higher self ( you may call it GOD)
- I totally disregard many of religious claims and many theories of scientific foundations.

What are those real stuffs? (I'm doing this risking my own credibility because many of you still are not in a position to grasp the idea of what I'm going to write now)
- The God, the saviour that you've been worshipping is non other than extra-terrestrial intelligent forms who visited us time to time. Just like us, they are also the fragments of the super one but they've surpassed their timeline way ahead of us('million or billions or any thing more' beyond that period of time) and hence they're more advanced and sophisticated beyond our knowledge and comprehension.
- Once our planet was inhabitated by huge humans (almost 20 -15 feet talls). Darwin's theory of evolution can kiss an ass. We are just the endresults of genetic manipulation. Before that, there really were godly humans who lived here. Accept it, we are mutated dropped off form of those beings. That missing link you and I read on the evolution book solely meant that.
- Lets analyse it now: The god you called in your books like krishna and others, bestowed powers to their followers, flying chariots, huge human mentioned in Ramayana whom the other small one noted as 'rakchasa', in bible, a holy god(huge light) appeared in the sky and commanded the miserables one to follow his path, just with a wave of hand, many sufferers getting cured, even in some other religions, every manuscript and old pages are filled with these flying objects and saucers and stuffs like that. To make myself clear, they are extra-terrestrial , as simple as that.  Call it GOD if you like it.

What happens if we are to deal with these truths?
- We have sightings all around the world of these UFOs, many of them have made contacts to us both in government and public level.
-The consequences are disastrous if 6 billions of people are to realize that their holy books or religion has nothing to do with their so-called god. There is so such god. But, every log those religion kept about defining the properties of their powerful gods and deitis converge to just one fact, they're so powerful and they control the universe with their unimaginable power. We call it God because they're so magically powerful. Imagine, if they all of sudden know about this very fact, what happens? It'll collapse our societal structure and belief system, many might commit suicde or kill or it's just simply hard to imagine what the outcome might be. It'll be chaos all over.
- If the same truth is to be dealt by the science community, then entire book of science has to be re-written. All the theories they had about universe and biology would simply go fuss.

So, the reasons are obvious, the very truth and contacts have been suppressed for ages just for these very reasons.

Out of 6 billion, when more and more millions of people will come up with alternative thinking about human history and overall idea about universe, someday, we'll see something unimaginable and we'll be ready by then for any kind of transformation.

If you are stunned with what I just wrote, you are welcome to criticize/ laugh/consider whatever.

"God is simply an object that consistently satisfies a human being. ..Those who have not found any object that consistently satisfies them, naturally, do not believe in God."

By nature, animals including human beings want nurturing and guidance. When a new baby animal is born, it's mother/father nurtures and protects it. Teaches it to hunt. Even a lion, the king of the jungle is born a helpless cub then they grow up and prowl the jungle but when they hear loud noise or something they can't fathom, they run away.

The difference between man and animal is man has language to understand a lot more than the lion. Even then there are many things man cannot fathom such as how the world came to be how things got created. So man is afraid of this unknown. In order to cope with the unexplained fear they start to pray to the unknown giving it a name of God.

Homeyji, you have done the same, and it helps you explain your own paradigm. You were born in a world where everything has a beginning and end, and in order to understand the beginning of the universe, it suits your confusion and it satisfies your insecurities to have faith in a God, which may or may not exist.

For most believers God is the answer to their inherent question of who created all this.

Then using the same logic my question to them is who created God? - if everything has to be created then someone must have created God. Am I wrong?????????????? LOL

People ignore science and realities in favor or divine meanings. Such as in our culture lot of scientific indicents are attributed to *fate* as it what's already been devised for you in the grand scheme of things. Even accidents due to gravity are attributed to fate. Chance meetings, winnings, everything is attributed to the grand scheme of things.

Religion is just an escapist mentality whereby you want to escape reality to create a supposedly better mental outlook by believing in different supernatural explanations.

I am merely observing and making a conjecture since obviously the unknown stays unknown, and I am not going to personify the unknown and follow the escapist mentality.

Perhaps the best possible thing to do is let unknowns be unknowns until it gets discovered. For example, the moon and the suns were considered to be God but then when man landed on the moon it was found to be nothing of that sort, but believers still continue to regard the moon and sun as god.

The most important missing link that promotes religeous tendencies is the lack of information on creation. Yet, for those bent on the creation theory attributed to God - do not rest assured till you find out who created God???

In my opinion, the answer to creation may never be found but we can get a good idea by the scientific study of the microscopic world. The electrons and protons and neutrons give a good explanation to the planetory orbitals. Perhaps our whole  galaxy itself  is an electron for another specy of life form.

When you see new developments in genetics, we have seen cloning of animals. How is life put into these clones? How does a single cellular living thing exist? Perhaps life is simply a result of various ingredients being present in one place.

In any case discussion about this is always interesting as long as some people does not act all knowing and 100% sure about their beliefs.

I'm very disappointed. I was hoping that atleast one of my 'bidwan gurus' would have made an attempt to answer my question that I asked above.

Rethink, Chaurey, Behoove me, Geology Tiger, Pulsar Beats.....any one?

Or perhaps if any of you didn't understand my question let me know. I'd be happy to simplify it for you.

You seem to have a very high opinion of yourself if you think that everyone in the world needs to answer to you
From where did you develop such arrogance? Are you an authority of any sort?

Ha ha ha. You must think that you are God, if you believe that everyone in the world needs to answer  you before they can believe what they believe.

Chaurey,

You don't have to be God to have authority.
My authority is my experience. From my experiences in life, unlike you, I have discovered 'an object that consistently satisfies me.'
I am not an authority of everything. But I am an authority of my experience.

For example, the fact that I have been to Naxal, Boudha, Chabel, etc, it does give me a certain level of credibility that I know what those places are. I don't need to pass some scientific test before I can attest that I know those places and that I have friends and family in those places.

Why, do you not feel that you are an authority of your experiences? Do you not feel that you can vouch for who your parents and your family are? Can you confidently say where your home in Nepal is? Then you are an authority of those experiences also.

What is the difficulty in understanding this simple thing? Relax, my friend. Don't worry, be happy.

There is no GOD like your religion tells you to think
Bob Dean retired from the US Army as a command sergeant major after a 28 year career. While being stationed in France in the 60's, he had top secret clearance working in the "war room." Dean claims to have read a COSMIC Top Secret NATO Study called the "Assessment" while serving in the Operations Center of NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE). This NATO military study acknowledged and analyzed the implications of the alien presence here on Earth. In this interview, Bob tells his story about the document that changed his life. In 1991, at the world's first UFO conference in Arizona, Bob broke his security oath and spoke out about the document and existence of aliens, which he says pose no threat whatsoever. He says aliens have been visiting and landing on Earth for centuries. Bob mentions the 1961 Brookings Report, the section titled, "Implications of a discovery of extraterrestrial life," which examines the potential implications of such a discovery on public attitudes and values. We'll discuss the impact of full alien disclosure on planet Earth, including the government's role. Bob also tells us about his own alien visitations and belief that various ETs are distant relatives who serve as humanity's custodians. He says some of them are already walking in our midst. We end the hour with Bob talking about his remote viewing experience and he emphasizes his message that ET is not something to fear.

Bittertruth i agree with you on the alien theory of gods. There is a very good possibility that it is true.

Homeyji if you read my answer and understand it, then you know that your question does not even need to be asked.

But since you are unable to understand it I will answer your questions.

"Please tell me your philosophy in life. What is your basis of truth? What is life?"

Philosophy in life:
Since life is a result of chance, enjoy and appreciate it as long as you have it and know that it is the same for others so respect other's right to enjoy and appreciate their lives.

Basis of truth:
Something that can be verified and proven or logically and reasonably expressed

What is life:
A result of millions of probability working together to create the chance :)

Still waiting for the answer to my question, guys.

And seriously, if this is the quality of this discussion moving forward on this thread, then I am done talking here. To make all of my 'Bidwan gurus' happy I will be the first to admit:

I lost, you guys won. You guys are 100% correct. I am 100% wrong. Best of luck to you guys and your life, I am done discussing on this thread. Congratulations on your win. May the nature of your truth and knowledge bring you as much happiness, joy and satisfaction as mine has brought to me. Best of luck to all of you.

With only best wishes and much love to my brothers on Sajha,
Homeyji

They are not malevolent. They're just watching us grow. But when monkeys try to destroy each other with their new nuclear toys, they occassionaly intervene.
Here is the military retiree breaking his oath, who determined to be loyal to public than shady government.

the last post i made are your words that i copied pasted from your comment on top brah ...scroll up....you actually posted that comment few days ago...

well anyway good for you that you found something that satifsfies in a world full of dis-satisfaction, and your personal opinion about whatever that satisfies you is GOD. hmm does not jive with me, i would not tie my experiences with, satisfied or not with GOD label but then it's your personal opinion. telling people where i am from is disclosing a fact, i know i can PROVE to people where i am from and they can TEST it this fact.  Your personal experiences, and to this day you have not said what it is that you feltl that makes you absolutely sure it is/was a GODLY experience, is still in question.

whenever i ask you to provide the instance of your GODLY experience you come up with your lame excuse that anyone who asks you is unimportant or irrelevant, arrogant etc. a defense mechanism to not get to the point but beat around the bush. I don't believe in god and i don't think the way you have established yourself has helped me doubt an ounce that such an entity exists.

"Please tell me your philosophy in life. What is your basis of truth? What is life?"

Homey ji,
Don't be bothered with worldly matters. All the teachings and philosophies of life tells you just how to engage in your worldly matter and activities with perfection. It's just the way telling you how to live . Philosophy is good for living a  good and moral life. But just look at the main point, it's telling you how to live your life good. The life which is just like a bubble of water drop. There are much greater things to do than being and involved into philosophies. But the bitter reality, to run this everyday life, we can't help it.

Basis of truth is truth. The truth is to recognize yourself, why you are breathing? why you think you are smartyass than rest of the organisms on the planet? Why you are different than the equally fit dead body? why do you have feelings,? why do you dream ? think about all of these stuffs, the truth shall slowly uncover itself.

May be those great yogis and buddhas, attained this great knowledge of enlightenement that way.  If we start to get even a bit of these real things, that's much better than to have falsely educated materials in our brains.

Homeyji there is no need for such defeated mentality and sarcasm.

You act as if this is a fight to prove who is right and who is wrong. Nobody is right and nobody is wrong. We are only expressing our opinions.

The problem with you is you are 100% sure of your belief and that is the biggest burden that you bear and you want to continue to want others to believe in you without even having the courage, or the expertise to express your so called experiences.

If you don't have anything else to contribute to this discussion then bye bye to you.
