tanushri dude or gal. refresh your memory.
firstly i didn't say "the king should use real bullets and u dont care if ppl in nepal die"
when did i ever said this. i think you must have heardit from someone.
trust me it's not me. i have never posted this sentenace on sajha.
prove me wrong if you have doubt!

Ok but maybe Hinduism didn't created dowry and caste system. But why was it practise in India and Nepal only and by hindus.
Why is that in Nepal i heard people saying "thula jat" and "sanu jat"?
who invented so call untouchable caste? it make me sick.
That's why i conclude Hinduism created such system.

yeah creamating bodies openly outside that temple beside that river was gruesome.
Smell and the sight was terrible. Then all those ashes including body parts which has not been burn completely thrown into the river, polluting it the so call holy river. what is this man. don't you called that gruesome.

If creamation, why can't it be done in proper manner. Why can't the government built a crematarium hut. I have seen in some develope countries.

I believe burial is the best solution. Some caste in nepal bury their dead and it was sooooooo nice to see this.

No religion is bad. Gyane may be a follower of Hinduism, but so am i and more than 80% of thre Nepalese.

Every religion has their own shortcomings. No religion is perfect.

The best thing about Hinduism is that you can criticise to any extent about the nuances in it, and you are left6 unharmed. Try doing the same about islam in Pakistan or Saudi arabia or even in muslim areas of Baanke/ Sunsari, and you will know the difference between hinduism and other religions.

In Hinduism, I don't need to go to the temple to prove that I am a Hindu. There is no such obligation like praying 5 times a day, going to Church every Sunday or a mosque every Friday.

In Hinduism you are not a born sinner, who always repents and keeps on asking the lord for mercy and forgiving for all sins. Hinduism doesn't believe in spreading the doctrine and converting others.

Hinduism is not formed by one person and it is very broad with different schools which can coexist within the same doctrine. One can follow multiple gods theory as is popular, or One can follow the Upanishads which says that there is only one god, or u can follow the Lokayata/ Charvak darshan which says eat, drink n be merry as there is no god n no afterlife, or u can follow Gita which stresses your work is your god or you can follow Yoga as your main religion. So the rubric of Hinduism is broad and one can follow any school he likes. U r free to choose, and can still be a hindu.

Nepal is a hindu country, but has any other religion been discriminated here? For religious discrimination, go to Pakistan or gulf.

Does secularism improve anything? If yes, then why there are more religious fanatics in secular India than in nepal ? And how many countries in the world are secular? Are Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, or France secular? And what about Vatican City?

Maoism and Secular state? A big joke. Mao-Marxist philosophy, which proclaims "Religion is an opium", can they ever, even think of any religion? Let alone being secular?

Well people may prefer burial, but cremation in electric crematorium ain't that bad than unnecessarily occupying lot of space and land for the deceased. There are many landless people who will greatly benefit, rather that using land for the deceased who don't need it anyway.

And about cremation being gruesome, what about the funeral rites of the Persians? bodies left in towers of silence where vultures can consume it? Every religion has their own rites and rituals.

So no religion is bad, you have to take the good points and leave the bad ones behind, that is being constructive. Rather that lambasting without knowing what one is talking about.

I am talking about 'secular' as pertaining to religion, not 'secular' in its literal meaning.

Samir28 dude
The word 'secular' is always tied to the word religion....what the hell are you talking about.. ?

'Secular' simply means not endorsing any particular religion. For example, the US and Canada are secular nations. For the sake of fairness ,the constitution and it's laws, a secular country does not endorse any religion or parctices of any religion.

Nepal is 'hindu country' by name but in practice it is secular country.
As hindu-bhddhist form more than 93% of population I dont think it is bad to call nepal 'hindu' country. For non-hindu nepalis probably being secular in practice is enough. So far religion has not been important issue in nepal except one or two events.

Ok, the concept of King revered as the incarnation of Vishnu only started when King Mahendra went to Budanilkanta and saw snakes on the street, presumely preventing him from visiting the temple (well, thoughts were that he wasn't allowed to visit his own shrine), thus the narayan temple was established in the palace area. Hindu scriptures never talks about King being an incarnate of any form.

People talk about caste system, sati system and dowry system created by Hindu to be bad. There are purposes that these systems were placed in the societies to run smoothly. They were only corrupted by the priests of the temples who were only the learned Brahmins for a little financial gains.

Caste System was created to divide the labor. The untouchables are extremely new compared to the actual caste system. In vedic times and even the ealy times of the last millenium, the lower castes were revered because they were actual ones who provided with all things that people wanted to ease and comfort their living.

Sati was created again much much later and you do not find any mention of sati in any of the hindu scriptures. Widows were very very discriminated, and people thougth sati was the best way out. so, it was actually the women who started sati system. over time, again, this got caught as god's message by the priests and was made regular, when sati was only optional to all widows.

Dowry was all started by the bride's parents, to help their daughters in bad times when they go to their new homes. Again, this got corrupted. Again, Dowry is not part of Hinduism.

I agree with samir28's views. Hinduism is the only inclusive religion of the world. There are many gods and no gods. it can define you as a simple creature that has the capability to make reasons, or simply a creation. Hinduism does not ONLY (just) believe in idol worship. idol worship is only a medium to achieve moksha through Bhakti, when one praises the might of supreme beings. There are other methods memtioned to fine happienss and life free from sufferings. Hinduism is not that bad after all.

To retain Nepal as a Hindu state is merely symbolic to stay atop in the world community as a follower of an doctrine that everyone else thinks is wrong. Cow is sacred in Nepal and should be illegal to kill one in Nepal as it is the national animal just like it is illegal to kill a golden eagle in the United States, or a peacock in india. Hindus all over the world can at least claim to have a land of their own doctrine, as the Christians do for Vatican, Jewish do for israel, Buddhist do for Tibet (Dalai Lama), and muslims do for Iran, and middel east.

.Article 19 of the constitution of Nepal 1990.

Right to Religion:

1. Every person shall have the freedom to profess and practise his own religion as handed down to him from ancient times having due regard to traditional practices; provided that no person shall be entitled to convert another person from one religion to another.

2. Every religious denomination shall have the right to maintain its independent existence and for this purpose to manage and protect its religious places and trusts.

And if you guys read the constitution, here is not a single mention of of the word "Hindu". So, why are you guys chirping to make Nepal a secular nation. it already is.

The caste system was created to make the system workable in ancient period by the people. Its intension was not to be like what we have in practice today. However the ruler or people in higher status at that time took it as an opportunity to make a trend so that their future family will be holding the higher status even without quality forever. ITs not the originality of Hindu relegion.

Coming to the relegion, not only in 21st century, even in 101st century people will have faith in relegion. If we seriously come to know about the relegion it has nothing harmful, rather its the ancient constitution which makes to keep our society faultless if seriously followed.

Hindu relegion teaches ` Karma nai dharma ho`.

So whats wrong in relegion?

Reading all the comments here from all our dear Nepali brother and sisters, it makes me think that we'll never change, come hell or high water. The recent political situation shows that too.
I think that person who started this thread has a legitimate question and many of you have drifted away from the topic.
Why a Hindu nation? It's not HINDU has problems, no no no...
There's nothing wrong to belong to any religion, but the problem starts when a dominanent religion proclaims the nation as Hindu or Buddhist. It's just a tragedy waiting to happen. Look at any civilization, any history. Do we want to do that? Then what's the point to be educated?
Nepali should not, and never claim as a HINDU nation. Our future generations will suffer with this policy when our country is so diverse. I feel sorry for all other who are not represented in this drama especially Buddhist, Muslims and few Christians. Look at the Middle East, do we really want to be like them?
My 2 paisa opinion
