Hi Everyone,
Politics has never been my subject of interest. However these days I am pretty much regular to read news and listen to BBC. I sometime discuss politics with my friends too.

Since the country is passing through a political phase transition, I couldn't save myself from this political tsunami. So I made an attempt today to record a small part of my political feelings that bothers me a lot. There are many questions in my immature mind I have decided to put them as time permits.

At this moment I am passing through a phase of mind which is suggesting me to record more feelings. However, I am not sure how long will it take to over the phase.

Whenever I write about Dharma and Science, I have always encouraged you to read even though my postings are tiresomely long, but I won't encourage you this time because you will gain almost nothing from these postings. Moreover, I don't have profound knowledge of the subject matter because of lack of interest and lack of study.

Thank you!

Even if she makes 2 lakh/month from her teachings/consultations, Deuba duo are not in any position to own that massive mansion in Budanilkhantha without some external income source like kickbacks.

Hush puppy Ji, Nameste!

I appreciate for your every single sentence; each can be a heading of a tediously long article. Let me be brief on every single point you have raised. Beforehand I would like to tell you one crucial thing. Here in Sajha, I have seen people holding their views like a million dollar bag without listening to others. They come to debate and eventually lose their patience. I am not that type and I hope you are not too :); I afraid of hurting people. I believe in healthy conversation where you can share something and learn something.

*******************************************************************
Political leaders germinate maoist??????????????its like asking was the egg born first or the chicken ?????????????????i disagree most of the conclusions that you made vishontar..if only you could redirect the colorful stories into real truth then i cud have given you scores of points on your irrelevant essays
**************************************************************

Diversity is a low of nature. People feel differently, think differently and develop themselves differently; this makes the world colorful. I love and respect this genuine low of Mother Nature and don't get astonished when someone completely disagrees with me. Logics can be different; however, when it comes to the truth, it is one and only one. Logics are not the truth but they are the aids that help you to take to the truth.

How Maoists get germinated can be a matter of debate or conflict of logic or war of opinions. However, they get germinated under the watch of the political leaders and developed under their security. This is the truth. Should they be taking responsibility or not? In my opinion, they should. If you think they shouldn't let me disagree with you.

Panchyet was not the peoples' government, it was kings direct rule, so they ignored whatever had happened during Panchyet. However none of the so called peoples' governments (10 in 12 years?) paid necessary attention to them. Some places in the country were getting highly developed and some places were being ignored. For example: the budget of two districts, Morang and Sunsari has always been more than the Budget of two zones, Seti and Mahakali (I came to know this through Sarwajanik Sunawai, a NTV program). Was this fear? Where should the people of Seti and Mahakali go for justice where the lawmakers are doing such discrimination?

Why it happened? Because great leaders of two major parties were from the Morang and Sunsari and they want to secure their victory to have lifetime membership in the parliament. Don't you think that the people of Seti and Mahakali should revolt? What will you do if your parents give very small portion of their belongings to you compare to your siblings? Don't you think that the leaders are the ignite revolution in people's mind? This was one of the reasons for the preparation of the birth of the Maoists. If you are disagreeing on this, I have no problem with that too.

People who live in Karnali are also Nepalese. Most of them fed on their fields only for three months. What will they be eating for rest nine months? They had always been neglected by predemocratic governemnts, and they were optimistic to be considered from the so called people's government. Regrettably that couldn't happen. They were completely ignored as were ignored by the previous governments. The leaders of that part were worried for their personal advancement where as peoples were crying on their destiny. Tell me what will you do if your mother serves more than enough food to your sibling and keeps you hungry? Be rational. This is another reason of the birth of the Maoists. If you still feel leaders have done perfect judgment, and they are not guilty, stick with your view; I have nothing to say.

These are just two examples, there are so many causes of the birth of the Maoists, where political leaders are responsible. Howevert I have no time and patience to write down here.

I don't think Maoists as terrorists. They are rebels. I usually tell them as,"?people with right agenda but wrong principle". A decade ago, when Maoists put forwarded their 40 demands, all of the demands were genuine. They were the demands of majority of Nepali. I remember then US ambassador had also appreciated those demands. However they took very wrong route to fulfill those genuine demands because Maoists leaders are fool people who believe in violence (whoever believes in violence is an idiot for me. Violence can never be a solution of any problem). Mr. Deuba who was PM at that time ignored those demands which bound them to pick up the gun. This was the origin of Maoists. Should Deuba take responsibility or not? If you say no, let me disagree with you.

Then Mr. Koirala started Kilo Serra 2, and Romeo types of operation to smash the handful of Maoists. Those security officials broke laws and did the most rotten deeds a human can do. They killed innocent people and labeled them as Maoists. Government knew it but didn't do further inquiry and didn't punish any wrong doer security man. Security forces set fire in villages, no investigation has been made for that, no wrong doer has been punished. What will you do if thereat come from your protector? What will you do if you don't feel safe from your own government? No people can tolerate injustice. This type of injustice helped Maoists to florish.

Maoists problem has become a main reason for political leaders to get in and get out of the mighty chair. Mr B said, Mr. A couldn't solve Maoists problem so he should be out of the power. I will solve it, let me be in. Mr. B also couldn't solve it and Mr. A accused him of being failure and asked to step down. They made Maoists problem as a mean to reach to the topmost chair. Boy was it a great game! This made government weak and strengthen Maoists. So I believe political leaders help to strengthen the Maoists.

contd... (I will write more tomorrow, please have patience)

This time I missed Confused Ji, a person with wonderful positve mind.

NO vishwontar ji, you have not :P Thank you for your good words.

I am here, present. Reading your dialects. I do not have much to say in the matter of Politics. It is very deep. Politics, I wish to be more of a proper science than a social one. I wish for a descriptive answer in politics than a choice of Yes or No, War or Peace, Captilism or Socilism, Democracy or Communisim or be it Moral or Immoral. Hence if someday Politicans chose to take this path we might find ourselves living a better life.

For now, I will just staisfy myself with your words. Many things you have clarified which I did not know. Please do continue.

It must be remembered that political corruption is one of the basic modes of operations of an authoritarian regime. In fact it is the life blood of authoritarian regime. If this is so then why authoritarian regimes take more aggressive and affirmative stand? Those people who are complaining of less corruption during three decades of panchayat regime are simply complaining about their losing corruption monopoly to the multi-party wallahs. Remember, Mr. Narayan Man Bijuchhe saying, ?We were clean simply because we had not had an opportunity to be corrupt.?

Writing on how authoritarian regime use anti-corruption or rather corruption strategy Mr. Inge Amundsen from Chr. Michelsen Institute, Norway speaks, ?The power to let a follower get rich through corruption combined with the power to remove the same individual because of corruption is an efficient way of securing personal loyalty and subservience. The many corruption campaigns are therefore rarely meant to change the structural setting of extractive corruption. It is used as a disciplinary mechanism and as tool in the struggle against rivals, as a pretext to dispense with embarrassing individuals or cliques. Beside, it is instigated to accommodate to the international agenda, and to please international donors and lenders.?

Once you relate Mr. Amundsen?s these lines with the actions taken by the Royal Commission on Mr. Deuba and his associates, the situation gets more clear. Interestingly, Mr Amudsen?s last prediction is not happening. IT is because it is difficult to fool international community, howsoever; you draft your speech with sugar-coated words.

Comrade Sardarsing, Instead of feeling like a savior copy pasting all these propagandas from other sites, if you're really anti king then don't be inciting the public to go bell the cat. Go BELL HIM yourself.

If you can't bell him yourself stop preaching like a loser.

Vishonatar ji: good morning

It's nice to start my day arguing with you again. This is my two cents on how Maoist incorporated. Correct me if I am wrong:

Around the time Prithvi Narayan united Nepal, General Nepalese had exhausted their energy supporting their various kings. Only the kings lived in modest luxury: have you seen the creepy gorkha palace, I'd bump my head everywhere. After that the shahs were useless, as always concentrating on making babies and marrying as many as they cud. I don't need to stress on 108 years of Rana regime. They cud have done much, since they had so much partnership with the British. But for them every other commoner became slave. Rebellious people germinated then. 108 years of suppression, people wanted real development when Tribhuwan took over. Mahendra tightened all possibilities screwing up with the Panchayat system, especially after the naxalites incident. But people cud educates themselves thanks to the schools. But when they got out of the schools there weren't much hope for anybody unless they wiped the asses of royalty and/or were relatives of royalties. Dr Baburam and his comrades were much more intelligent than to kiss ass their entire life. Also during Panchayat system, Mahendra allowed refugees from Tibet, Burma and Bhutan to live ...but hardly anyone cud sustain in the meager potato farms of the hills. Now people in Nepal multiplied: more mouths to feed than potatoes to grow. Any hope: a promise for good life for their generation became their major weakness.

Birendra was quite liberal. He slowly led way for people to grow businesses. But that meant he has concentrating on people who already had money and/or brains, the rest of Nepal was doomed. Birendra totally ignored the weak people. They would have been his strenght...had he only appointed them with ...well if i were him i would have started an army for developing infrasture, giving them modest salaries. which he didn't. So leaders like Baburam who supported them in hard times became their only alternative.

At this juncture...the frigging congress, who was mostly exiled during Mahendra's era, came back to Nepal for their own benefit: making it big. Making good money and they had enough which they spent on the 1100 people who died in democracy. They even managed to sell of parts of Nepal during their play in parliament and cultivated more wealth: their sole intention. They were worse than Mahendra and Birendra in ignoring the poor. The only people they cared were people who voted for them. Rebels burst out as maos..enough of false promises.

The intensity of the how hard they were hit turned them into hardcore rebels. But I disagree with Gyane since I personally know him to be a money sucking parasite. Besides forced peace is mirror image to Rana regime, however subtle it may look, it is a dictatorship. We should solve our on problems. The king thinks by mass killing he would solve it in time, which is so wrong. Give him a nice and cozy palace for him and his family daneldhura: house arrest. There would be food, brand new clothes, accessory and MTV for his grandkids and peaceful life. Would he be happy in the fort of barbed wires? Then why the hell does he think we'll be happy??

The process of democracy in Nepal needs to be sustained. Freedom starts with responsibilities. Equality, Fraternity ...should not just be words. That?s our basic necessity. KG knows he needs people..even if it means just to ensure the crown for his generation...On that note I leave it onto people like you and me to take advantage of this opportunity to make the best of people. For the people, By the people and to the People. Since the king thinks he's god. I guess he can support himself.

there are many roads to go from here. Women's rights and children exploitation are core matters that I seek to resolve among others in the

Leaders of political parties should be first exterminated by the joint efforts of Royalists and Maoists.........in the cities and major urban areas it's the job of royalists to exterminate political leaders of various political parties....and...in the villages..small towns and rural areas..it's the job of Maoists to exterminate the mid-to-low level leaders of varous political parties..

Royalists and Maoists ...together they can finish this cleanup..........so that later Royalists and Maoist will have "clear open field" to fight the final war against each other without getting distracted by..those crappy political parties.

The Capital of Nepal is no more Kathamndu nor Rolpa or Rukum. Haven't you seen the Nepalese Capital has moved to New Delhi? Each and every stakeholders of Nepalese politics must make visit to N. Delhi to determine it's next move and action in Nepal. Now Girije is in New Delhi.. no he was not barred.

Dedicated to HPJi..... :)

Open corruption, lawlessness, favoritism, immorality in governing bodies made people to lose their faith on government and that helped Maoists to grow.

In the beginning some leaders pointed out that the Maoists were originated by the present king. I remember one of the great leaders, pointing towards Nirmal Niwas, said: "I know where these Maoists are moved from". Another great leader of the same party directly said: "Maoists are moved from Nirmal Niwas". These two leaders collected a lot of clippings from the mass because we have developed such a way that we want to hear such words. Leaders are very clever, they know what we want to hear.

However we now know that they were not moved by Nirmal Niwas because their first demand is to remove Monarchy. Leaders should be truthful. One can get light popularity from such baseless words but such popularity has very short lifetime. Moreover they give opposite effect in the long run. Such words created distance between them and the king and people considered them liar and lost their trust. Tell me if you don't trust a driver will you travel with him? Maoists got crepitated by such low popularity motivated voice of leaders. You still don't want to accuse them for raising maoists?

With all these I believe that Maoists were being germinated and grown by political leaders. Hushpuppy Ji, if you have disagreement, I respect that too. You are not the only one who doesn't believe that the political leaders are guilty; those leaders, their family members and their close aids also don't believe so :).

I don't give importance to the past because it has gone. That is the reason why, I suggested the leaders to back off. This is what I feel the demand of this moment. I want leading figures of the political parties to back off and give chance to new leaders. This thread was completely standing on present contest (except some background of the past) until you bound me to go to the past. These leaders are incompetent, I strongly believe this. I have given reasons for that. Do you believe that they are competent? If yes I will be happy to disagree with you.

I am not comparing here Maoists, King and leaders. All of them have their own strength and weaknesses. Most of us are divided into three different groups, but I am not. I strongly feel that all Nepali (parties, maoists, royalists) should unite to build our damaged country. We all are responsible to damage her. Whatever label we put on, Maoists or democratic or royalist, we have grown up in the same tradition. We have to establish a nice tradition. I am asking leaders to start from their party.

Remember I am not writing against the political parties. I am not writing against the multiparty system. I am not writing against the democracy. Instead I am one of the greatest admirers of the democracy, but meaningful democracy. I was writing these entire things in my upcoming postings but you interrupted me. From your post posters I would like to say we have many similarities than differences.

I haven't written anything in the support of the king. I have my own views about him. In this very Sajha, I had posted a long article, when His Majesty first saked Mr. Deuba. I had suggested him to move backwards and give full flagged democracy (with army under PM) to the people. I know he is not reading Sajha and if he reads he wouldn't listen to anonymous person without any status. I have heard that Kings are the most egoest person of the world. They care a lot about the labesls :). Instead he moved forward. His movement is logical but he doesn't have any solution of the problem. He can not solve the problem. If someone can not solve the problem he is a part of the problem.

I have many questions for His Majesty and Maoist leaders. I will put them on some other day. This thread is dedicated to leaders of the political parties. To have a right democratic system, effective democratic system, there should be democracy inside the parties. If a leader rules like a king inside the party, how can we expect democracy in the nation? I want a systematic democracy inside the parties.

I am very open minded person. I don't stick with my belief because believes depends on the depth of the knowledge. Different people have different circumferences of the knowledge in different fields. I have admitted in my first posting that I have very limited knowledge in this field. If you have a bigger periphery of knowledge, please feel free to enlighten me, and make me to admire political leaders and follow them.

contd..

A Tete-a-tete With a Jailed Nepal Leader: Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel speaking with journalists few days ago in Pokhara hospital. He was admitted there while-in-detention. Now he is back to hometown Tanahun spending days in a warehouse under police surveillance.

By Ghanashyam Ojha
United We Blog! Exclusive

The four-month illegal detention has not wavered Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader of Nepali Congress instead it has strengthened his zeal to fight for absolute democracy. Poudel is heading for the democracy where there is no monarchy. Poudel in white-robe was taken aback when me, Balaram Baniya and other colleagues entered the room where he has been kept for four months following the king?s putsch in February 1.

Poudel has been kept in a warehouse (goadowan) of Agriculture Corporation in Damauli, Tanahu. He looked visibly overjoyed to see us in his room and welcomed us. Spirited Poudel began the conversation thus: you know, now the conflict in Nepal is between parliament verses king.

He said he has determined to fight a moral fight with the king. ?I want to expose the so-called democratic face of this king to the international community,? he said. Poudel, Narahari Acharya, Lila Mani Pokharel, Amik Sherchan, veteran human rights defender Krishna Pahadi and some other political leaders are still in detention. Paradoxically the king staged military coup of February 1 on the excuse to fight Maoist terrorism but nobody knows why the king instead of Maoists has detained the political leaders and human rights defender who would in fact be of help to the king to fight terrorism.

?This king is not fighting terrorism,? Poudel said.
