Rally Organizers,

If the news about the presence of Sujata in the rally is true, it is a very big shame to you. After the failure of KG within 3 months of his absolute rule, Nepalese people are searching alternative democratic leaders, not the ones Newuser noted. If you still can not come outside of these corrupted leaders, it is nonsense to support the so-called democratic rally. In my opinion, it is better to have a rally in support of the Maoists than to expose these nonsense leaders like Sujata Koirala and follow their corrupted path. At least Maoists are not corrupted and they have put their lives in the line of fire and they are fighting for some good reasons with absolutely nice slogans. Unfortunately, their way of fighting by killing people is very condemnable. I am telling this because if we have to choose among the bads, it is better to choose the less bad.

A request to the participants of the rally:

*PLEASE DO NOT LET SUJATA TO THE PODIUM.. DO NOT LISTEN TO HER. SHE IS A COMPLETE EVIL FOR NEPAL*

Newuser and PDQ1 ji,

Please refrain from running after rumors or rather making one yourselves.

From where did you get the information that Sujata is the guest of honor ?

The line from Washington Post news report "Sujata Koirala, a member of the Nepali Congress party and daughter of former prime minister G.P. Koirala , will be joining the protesters Sunday."

Isn't this what you are talking about, Newuser ji ?

It says participation, not addressing. And the reporter got this information not from the organizers, but from Sujata herself. Got that ?

It's one thing to talk about how much desirable/undesirable is Sujata's presence there, and it's totally different thing to confuse ordinary participation on her own to invitation to be a guest of honor.

Nope, Princess Suji ain't the guest of honor. Not at all. I am positive.

Friends,

A lot of discussions going on here regarding the rally.

Here is what was passed in one of the DC Rally Coordination Committee meetings regarding policy towards visiting Nepali citizens:

"...It was decided that since this rally was organized by the Nepalese residing in North America, the rally coordination committee will welcome the 'free will', participation of visiting citizens of Nepal but stage slots will NOT be granted. MC to enforce....."

This was passed way before that news came out. Hope this clarifies the issue.

See you all in DC on Sunday with strong voices and pro-democracy banners.

Lets wait for three days more and see what goes on the rally. If Sujata been honured as she should not be, then you people are no better than those who joined maoist from Rolpa for food and living. You people are educated and in US, I hope you know what is wrong and what is right. Till date we are in the concept that our brains have been drained to US and Europe. This event will prove wheather that statement issture or false in the way you treat to Sujata.

I am not in US and would love to see what difference you people can make in the near future. My suggestion is , if you can not give positive knowledge to the new generation, please for the god shake don't give negative too.

MERO DESH, MREO DHERTI, MERO AAMA BACHI RAHUN SADA SADA KO LAGI.......

Hey Sursab dude,
>> I am not in US and would love to see what difference you people can make in the near future.
The answer to this would be "NOTHING"
>> MERO DESH, MREO DHERTI, MERO AAMA BACHI RAHUN SADA SADA KO LAGI.......
I like this one dude but these organizers are totally different than what you think. You should come and see these neta's white buffalo looking wives (you wonder why, don't you?). These people will crack you up man if you meet them. Last thing we needed is that beeyatch from Nepal (Sujata Koirala), its like a god damn drama now.

peace dude ;)

Let me assure you that I don't run after rumors neither I intend to make one. I want the rally to be a grand success. Let the Americans know that Nepalese are in favour of democracy and let the royalists know that a big majority of the Nepalese in the USA oppose absolute monarchy. Hence I want to see thousands of Nepalese participating in the rally.
I didn't get any information about Sujata being the guest of honour. But the newspaper report suggests that she wants to be a star attraction in the rally. There are peoples amongst the organisers who want to please Sujata and my intention was to thwart their enthusiasm for promoting a very corrupt woman as a prodemocratic leader of Nepal. Honestly, I don't see any reasons for supporting parties and politicians if the likes of Sujatas are to remain their prominent leaders. It's time to prohibit, refuse them from infiltrating in the political scene. I thought you would realise what 'guest of honour' meant before implying it as an attempt to spread rumour. I am just surprised how you could take a negative note on my comment.

I don't get this, how can you belive these group of duds who denies the fact that beeyatch sujata was cordially invited to take part in this rally. All these netas from nepal and the wanna be jharpat netas have one thing in common, they lie, they like to lie, they lie a lot and they lie like a mother F**KER. These suckers will still deny even if you see sujata on the stage. Its the way they present themself in front of people.

newuser-jee,

I have had utmost respect for your relentless efforts to make the democratic voices heard -- especially at times when many seem to be blindly supporting repression, voices like yours and mine are precious and direly needed. Our first encounter of differences (and it is only very mild this time, may I add) -- which is only normal in a truly democratic process -- does nothing to alter my respect and sincere admiration for you democratic stance.

You suggested that I probably should have deleted the "Sujata" part from the Washington Post report. I beg to be alarmed! If any truly democratic person chose to hide the facts, or lie about them, then how would he be any different from KingG who has chosen to rule by the decree of lies, propaganda, and the suppression of the press to abet his such evil methods of ruling?

All in all, I think these whole exchanges in this thread is a classic example of how democracy should/must work. I presented the report as it was. There were many who disliked parts of what they read. They made their voices heard. Now, the organizers know exactly what the ramifications are of letting Sujata assume a higher profile at the rally. This puts tremendous pressure on the organizers to give in to the public demands that Sujata not be allowed on the stage at all. And I trust that they will not. Voila! Perfect democracy at work!

However, given the slightest chance of grave error, if any of the speakers turns out to be a jerk, and wishes to acknowledge the presence of Sujata in any form whatsoever, or if she is called upon the stage, believe me, I will be the first one to boo her out of the scene. I am sure everyone else who rightly wishes to express their loathe for Sujata or what she represents -- a truly dysfunctional and loathesome political leaders -- will join me in doing so too. All the more reason for the likes of you and others who have expressed disgust at the mention of Sujata to join the rally!

Now, about banning her totally from being at the rally at all. Once again, preventing ANYONE -- be it a hated political figure, a Maoist, or even a staunch royalist for that matter -- would be as undemocratic as what you and I have been standing against. We are the proponents of democracy, and we shoudl not even entertain the idea of forcefully preventing someone from participating at a rally that is advocating principles of personal liberty and freedom.

Having said that, the organizers, by the virtue of them being in charge of the show, do have a huge leverage over who to let/not let on the stage. Sujata MAY be attending the rally as an ordinary Nepali citizen, but she will in NO WAY be given any prominence at all. If she is, as I said earlier, we willl boo her out of the stage and let her know how exactly we detest her and what she represents.

Another thing that has disppointed me about your statements is that you introduced the notion of Sujata being a "guest of honor" at the rally. The report clearly does not suggest that Sujata will be a "guest of honor." If anything, she has focused more on Dinesh Prasain, a human rights activist, than on Sujata. I understand your intentions were benign and you've already explained what you meant, but this does little to prevent our opponents from picking on it against us -- not that they will not pick on anything at all no matter what, but it's rather self destructive to give them anymore ammunition than they already might think they have.

Regardless of benign intentions, newuser-jee, it always does good if we steadfastly stick to the truth, openness, and not let unnecessary emotions take over rationality in a difficult process of democracy.

My intentions were to discuss with you freely and frankly some of the aspects of our differences with all due respect to our common goal of achieving freer society in Nepal. I hope you will not take it otherwise.

:)

By addressing newuser in the above post, I hope I have also answered some of the other valid concerns expressed by other posters too.

And please note that I am only one of coordinators from New York, and am not involved directly with organizing the rally. Whatever I have written is from my personal capacity and does not necessarily reflect the views of the organizing committee, although I have good reasons to believe that they would conform with it.

Nepe,
Sujata certainly was invited to join this rally by certain people (rally organizers), whom i don't want to name here. One cannot deny the fact that Girja is the mukhauta of Nepali democracy manau ya na manau, so goes with his daugher Sujata. So Sujata ma ko gun gau ra DC rally ma bhag li u.

The Article from the post shows the true purpose and the people behind the protest. As I had mentioned before... we are no Bhada Bahkhra to join a mob like watching tamasaa in Tudiikhel. As I had mentioned before... WHAT IS THE TRUE PURPOSE OF THIS RALLY ? and WHO WAS ORGANIZING IT ? Nobody had the slightest clue. Now the truth comes out..heh heh WE THE PEOPLE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES BENEFITING FROM THIS PROTEST...heh heh
I WOULD RATHER STAY HOME AND WATCH TV THAN TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR ANY OPPERTUNISTS....

The organizers had nothing to do with the "Sujata" part in the Washington Post report. The reporter was personally responsible for the information that she got independently, and the rally organizing committee does not endorse the "Sujata" aspect of the report.

A concern/condemnation regarding the "Sujata" was sent to the reporter (Nora Boustany) by one of the rally organizers, and here is the copy of the response that she sent:

PDQ1,

The fact is, as Poonte ji has explained enough, the ORGANIZING COMMITTEE has not invited Sujata. That's what matters. Some individual's private invitation, if there is one, does not matter.

So please show some diligence at least not to let wrong information go out.

And I am surprised with your negligent, irresponsible and disrespectful remarks to the rally and it's purpose.

Re Democracy being made synonymous with Girija, yes, that's what happened until now. Like King is what monarchy is all about, Girija et al also thought they are what Democracy is all about and others let it be that way.

Things are slowly changing. You will see a sign of that change in the rally, although the main purpose of the rally is protest against a Super Girija who thinks he is what the whole nation called Nepal is all about.

So, may I ask you what are your plans ? Joining the huge pro-democracy rally in DC or a tiny pro-cynicism rally here in Sajhaland ?

Its not enough that they messed up the country... Them long hands seem to have the reach all the way to DC. Now do I want to show my face there and let this OPPERTUNIST take credit ? NO I DON"T THINK SO.

They had 15 fking years, they've got to admit their mistakes first(then apologise)..and cough up all $$$ they massed up(give it back to UN humanitarian aid in Nepal..then maybe I can join them in the same group) after that I can join them.

I understand Poonte's effort to keep it neutral. BUt those wolves would never give up when they see a trail of blood ...heh heh like vultures.
