"BathroomCoffee. It's nauseating to the core what these people write. These intelligent people actually believe what Gorkhapatra prints, that too when the world knows ktm is under media censorship! oh wait! they should be inducted in the YOUNG EINSTEINS' hall of shame!"
Yo Snurp maybe you need to go see an opthalmologist. I dun care WHAT PAPER SAYS WHAT ... my question is once again... who gave these OPPERTUNISTS to speak on our behalf(THE PEOPLE) ? They didn't voice my concern, your concern or THE PEOPLE's concern...they just spoke their own issues. As I mentioned before people in Nepal are having hard time putting food on the table and here are these Vultures talking about their personal shit. What people need now is stability and jobs so they can feed themselves. After food comes freedom and democracy. You tell me.. How can yo ask a starving person to fight for freedom and democracy ?

Democracy should be demanded, not enforced.

Bathroomcoffee,

The people who spoke at the rally need not speak for anyone else. Whether one agreed with what they had to say or not, they spoke THEIR own respective minds. That is all we need in democracy -- for EVERY Nepali, including YOURSELF, to be free to speak his/her own mind. You'd be misfortuned if you still believe that we need someone -- a "father figure" -- to speak for us. You definitely would be at a disadvantage with regards to your own personal growth if you think the King speaks your mind, and you choose to keep quiet. Same goes to all those who believe political leaders, or Maoist leaders, do/should speak their respective minds. If anyone came to the rally hoping that any of the speakers would speak their minds, then they too first need to free themselves of the "slave mentality". Whether one likes what s/he hears is a matter of debate in a DEMOCRATIC PLATFORM afterwards.

So, regardless of what the speakers had to say, I personally gained a lot by being able to make a stance, by having utilized my right to freedom of expression, by being able to express my solidarity with all those who believe in OURSELVES, and by letting our voices of refusal to be enslaved by the King, or the political leaders, be heard, albeit in a small way. I am sure the same goes for a lot of others who attended the rally.

POONTE,
You are free to speak your mind anytime, anywhere, anyway. Nobody is stoping you from doing that. I only have a problem when a group of people collectively misrepresent an entire population and hijack the issues that matter to the majority. As I had said time and again, I don't like the CONGRESS, KING, or the MAO's. I am talking about AGRA and you are talking about GAGRA. I am talking about people who actually live in NEPAL(unlike you and me). Their primary concern now is not FREEDOM or DEMOCRAcY. And the Jibberish that all the folks that spoke at the rally does not reflect the primary concern of the NEPALI PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY LIVING IN NEPAL.
AND YOUR PERSONAL GAIN IS NOT WHAT THESE GATHERINGS SHOULD BE ABOUT....IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PEOPLE OF NEPAL(you can even go join the naked cowboy with the same poster in Times sq..for all I care but do not do it when representing ALL OF US).

Bathroomcoffee,
I am with you 100% on this. Some of the supporters of democracy are either too narrowminded or they are so blinded by their blind faith, that they lash out at anyone who doesn't support them as being King G's chamcha.

The fact is that there are a lot of people who does not support King G, and who are more concerned about the people who are actually living in Nepal and trying to have some kind of peace and stability so that they can work and put food on the table for their family. These people don't need to have to deal with the politics of Nepal Bandh's and Kursi Taana Taan.

Again, NOT supporting the King and choosing the best available option for the common Nepali, I say this. At least right now there is only one person in the KURSI and the common Nepalis are the not subjected to being the victims of the multi party Kursi Taana taan where the common Nepali people are the ones who have to suffer the most.

I am not against the people from US who are supporting democracy. Democracy would be nice - since I too am living in a democratic county, but it's just not practical for Nepal. I would just say that you have inflated ideals. Come down to earth and practically think about doing some grass root projects for the common Nepali, instead of contributing to stopping foreign aid.

Bathroom coffee, you almost make me laugh. You continue your tantrum of freedom of expression but you cannot tolerate others' freedom of expression. You talk about starvation and stability, but you cannot tolerate people voicing for the same cause. So you expect 26 million people come hand in hand with one cause? and what might that be? PEACE, STABILITY and PROSPERITY I HOPE.. or do you have something else in mind?

But that was the same theme of the rally aint it? So if you have figured out everything what nepal needs, you tell me what is the solution. How do you eradicate starvation ? HOW TELL ME? by wiping down villages in the western and eastern front so that people in KTM will not starve? By bringing peace and stability by censoring everything? BRAVO!!!

Yah poonte ji, though I don't agree with everything you have to say. I absolutely agree with the slave mentality you talk about. Just go to every gathering and try to put some kind of progressive idea, there will be an objectioner and that famous one liner "MAILE MATRAI GARERA K HUNCHA?" or "GO TO NEPAL." I must have done the same in myriad occasions. Now, I am tempted to think, if not us, then who?

The very fact that gorkhapatra had to stoop down so low to publish a blatant lie suggests the impact of the rally in DC had. and people thought NOBODy CARES

Saroj, I totally agree with you. but we don't need to publish a list of names like corrupt leaders, on who's working on what for nepal. Trust me, there are still MANY PEOPLE who are involved with many projects in Nepal, both in Nepal and abroad.

maybe you should also get involved in one of the projects and see how difficult it is to start a grass root project in the current scenario, then perhaps, maybe if you have the capacity to think, you'll appreciate what others are doing in their own little ways than just back biting and spit few venoms of negativity. If you can't do anything for the COMMON NEPALI you so vehemently support, at least stop being a hindrance to COMMON NEpALIS who are trying to do something progressive.
