Hi!

Looooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, I was also in
Pulchowk Campus for a couple of years. I got admission
on First Batch of B.E. 4 years program. In the entrance
exam: written part, I suppose I got highest score ....
heheheeh.... Dean of IOE at that time stopped his car
and asked my name while I was heading to see the
entrance exam result, and he congratulated me and I
rushed to see the result..... Unfortunately, I could not
be part of graduation for my BE degree, and I had to
quit for some other reason. I wish I had completed my
BE from Pulchowk Campus as a first batch and that
would be more honorable degree..... Money rules,
and I followed money.

In recent years, Pulchowk students routinely have won many regional robotics competitions, beating out competitors from other South Asian and South East
Asian countries.

No other studies/programs at Pulchowk appears to have such a regionally "winning" streak, though Pulchowk remains a fine engineering institution. Still, the way they
teach, say, civil engineering in India or Bangladesh can't be all that different from
the way they teach at Pulchowk.

So, back to this series of success stories in robotics at Pulchowk.

What accounts for this CONTINUOUS excellence in robotics at Pulchowk, especially given a lack of resources?

a) Is it because of the caliber of students who go into robotics (as in, do the most talented students at Pulchowk somehow gravitate to doing robotics?)

b) Is it because of the quality of coaching in robotics that these students receive?

c) Is it because the robotics program is better funded than other programs at Pulchowk?

d) Are there other variables such as : could it be that other countries do NOT take robotics seriously; hence Pulchowk has all the advantages to be the winner, much in
the same way, say, that North Koreans are world champions in synchronized placard-waving? I don't know. I am asking all these questions from all angles just to get a
better UNDERSTANDING of what DRIVES Pulchowk's excellence in robotics.

If you were were to RANK the above (and other variables) in terms of its degree of importance to the success in robotics, how would Pulchowk grads rank it? I'd be interested . . .

Other than that, I am just broadly curious that -- all else being equal -- why some
Nepali institutions tend to do very well in something, while others appear to
stagnate.

The question is: Why?

Dada Giri-san cum Bro,

I am glad to see appreciation from you regarding
GyaNeX, the online Unicode Nepali Typing software
that I developed. I am certainly interested to work
towards it as time permits.

I am suggesting computer science students (Nepali)
here at my univ to work on it as undergrad graduation
project work like that. Let me see how it works.

Next, I am proud and honest to myself that I never
had to take ghus. A few nepali civil engineers who
ever worked in HMG nepal can claim: honestly with
himself, well, publicly anyone can claim, but,
to honest to himself, it certainly requires you to
avoid being ghusyaha.

Now, pulchowk campus. Being an alumni of Pulchowk
campus, I am certainly proud of PC. That was the
best time I ever spend in Nepal.

Why Pulchowk Campus is better? First of all, its students
that are best. Its the admission system in Pulchowk that
is best in the world and really great taht we can imagine.
Thanks to teachers in Pulchowk Campus who stablished
a great trend in the history of Nepal. Maharaj Gunj
Campus and Pulchowk Campus are great in this trend.
These teachers who refused to admit son and daughter
of Politicians or influential people through back door is
the beginning of quality education in these campuses.
Thanks to these teachers for continuing the trend they
initiated long time ago, i.e. 20 years ago.

Facilities: Thanks goes to British who establisehd the
initial facilities in Pulchowk campus. Thanks to these
great qualified teachers from best universities in India,
like Roorkee (now, IIT Roorkee) and IITs changed the
face of teaching profession in Pulchowk Campus.

Just compare the quality in Nepal Engineering Campus,
where you pay money, you get certificate: that was the
reason they moved to Pokhara University: NEC could
not compete with the admission exam policy of TU
under the control of Pulchowk Campus and moved to
Pokhara University to have full monopoly on admission
matters via money tricks.

Its a cycle: good teachers, good students ... good college
and this triangle is really lasting and these nodes are
interdependent.

Good luck to PC students.
