Phew! This is a contentious issue; no joke huh! One argument that we all agree is that it is nearly impossible to change peoples' mind about political leaning. This is interesting because, IMO, most of us clearly do not have substantive policy fact-sheets to check which candidates' stance on a particular topical issue has been favourable to that of our own. For example, I feel that I am socially progressive in issues like LGBT rights, abortion rights, banning any type of guns etc (once again, because of my background: I was not born here, I live in a city etc) at the same time I think I should support Fiscal Conservative measures like curbing government spending, controlling government handouts, tax relief for my W2 income. I do not even have a general idea of how that is possible. On social progressive issues, possibly, people like myself can be unsure or even apathetic. I think, fiscal conservatism, on the other hand, brings me immediate rewards. But achieving any type of policy changes in both side of the spectrum is a gargantuan task.

This in a systemic and well established country.

Think about what challenges we face for our own country, Nepal. In that sense, how do you think we are faring - i.e in building consensus for policy changes that promotes economic development in Nepal?
