I pray for those families at this hard time. And I am responding only with Blingbling's first response the content related to this thread.  "units are insured" as Blingbling mentioned.  My previous Apt Complex management  required me to insure the apartment as required by the lease. And this recent Apartment I live in, it is not required but still I insured it. I have insured with only $18 dollar a month and you can have coverages up to $55,000 to $60,000. I am just clearing Blingbling's statement.
