H1-B & OPT : Things I Know

I am also one of those recent graduates who will have the cap gap this coming summer. I will be applying for H1-B in April 2008. But my company is also processing my labor certification right now, although I have not signed a single document yet.. Since, I am still in F1 (OPT) status, do I violate the "intent" of F1 status by going this path of Labor Certification? Shouldn't I be "not guilty" of violating any "intent" until June 2008 when I will still be in F1 (OPT), regardless of what I do with my labor certification since I haven't changed my status?

I am confused, and my lawyer hasn't really cleared my worries either.
