Dear Newuserr!! Good diplomatic neighborly relationship between neighbors depend upon give and take of mainly the economic interests of the countries. Beside economic interest there are also issues of geopolitical interest, which are quite thorny because it always look through internal security of the country. China and India are both big and powerful neighbors. They have their own bigger problems economic and political. I do agree with you that as big powerful neighbor, both these countries should have liberal approach towards it?s smaller neighbors, especially for India. Since India gained independent in 1947 from the imperialist British, it had been fighting to survive both economically and politically. India was economically exploited and divided by religion to destroy it further in the wake of post independence. When British left, 7 % Indians were literate, unfinished border in Kashmir triggering bloody war with Pakistan since it?s birth. It was British who redrawn the boundaries with the neighboring countries to ensure greater British Indian Territory. The grievance Nepal has regarding the boundary with India even though legitimate should not be blamed on the Indians alone. They did the similar mistake in demarcating the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan, known as DURANT LINE. This grievances should be deal with honest diplomatic interaction between the two countries. For the time being, instead of harping those issues, Nepal should take more economic advantage from India demanding Kolkata Port facility and a corridor through India to B?desh to do Business via Chittagong Port. Nepal being a Land locked country these should be given first priority which would definitely help Nepal?s economically. In 2005, the textile quota is going to be abolished that would facilitate more competition from the Indians and the Chinese. As a nextdoor neighbor Nepal should negotiate with India with special deal for the raw textile product and investment to modernize exiting facilities. Indian?s Economy is growing 7 to 8 % annually. Nepal should aggressively negotiate with Indian IT sector and invited the biggies like Infosy, Wipro, Tata to set up their houses in Nepal. Even China and India are economic foes, even the Chines not only invited the Indian sowtware giants to set up their shops in China, they have also make deals with the Indians to train them in Banglore. Why we cannot take this golden opportunity to set up IT parks and train our young college graduates by inviting these Indian Companies. Nepal is rich in Hydropower, why should not make deal with the Indians for investment in this sector and to sell hydropower to India. Even Bangladesh is trying hard with Ratan TATA to invest in their country. If we really make our country politically stable and want to be economically progressive, we should exploit the Religious Tourism. As you have said Birthplace of Buddha is in Nepal and that can attract huge investment from the Japanese, Indians and many other Buddist countries. Instead of engaging in hostility, Nepalese can be benefited in many ways through good neighborly relationship with India. As Indian Economic is growing rapidly, India is going to need more skilled and unskilled manpower, which illegal Bangladeshi are taking advantages even though every Indian news paper criticized the government for not deporting the illegal Muslim B?deshi due to internal security reason. I never seen and listen any Negative report against Nepalese because India knows very well that hardworking Nepali would contribute in her growing economy and there will be no internal security risk unlike the B?deshi and Pakis. Beside Indian Army recruited large number Nepali and they give equal opportunity like their India counter parts, unlike the British dogs who always treated Gorkhas in the army as second grade citizens. As a good, Neighbor Nepal should play good neighborly relation with both India and China. Especially Nepal should not tolerate Paki ISI activities from her soil. That is really very dangerous for both Nepal and India, which invited hijacking of Indian Airlines from KTM. It was definitely designed by the nefarious activities of ISI. In another incident one Paki diplomat get caught with fake Indian currencies, printing machines and RDX explosives material from his residence. These are the thing should be stopped. I never understood what was the agenda of these Maoist and our so called democratically elected corrupt leaders, I do hope, King?s extreme action should end continuous killing of the innocent Nepali citizens and the security personnel and bring back political and economic stability in the country, which is currently driving out all the existing business out of Nepal. (Many Indian business houses leaving the country because of such threats) This definitely gave bad image of our country. I hope when the King will able to clean this mess, when political normalcy will return to Nepal through democratic process, we should vigorously pursue Economic relationship with both China and India.
