I have noticed that there is several thread people like leo_r, joshi have started and it’s about hate in Nepalese community based on caste.
How can we abolish hate based on caste? Healthy discussion only. Please do not use foul languages against any race, ethinicity or caste .Lets analyze the history and context? One of my suggestions is:
Encourage Enter caste marriages. Any others???

im_I,
dont take any of that shit in sajha seriously....most people just say things to tick others off...others, well if they think a certain way, what can we do, eh?
on a more serious note, as for your suggestion of intercaste marraiages, caste system is a like a foundation (deterimental foundation it may be) of our culture, beliefs and principals. it is not going away that easily. caste system is very deep rooted in our parents, grandparents' "system". hoenstly, tell me, you think you can take a "untouachable" to your grandmother and expect her to be thrilled about it?

i think the best any one can do is just to educate and raised their kids in the proper manner, teach them the right things, that everyone is equal and if everyone does that, i think we have done our part...

I am a firm believer of culture and tradision. It is the basic foundation of ours where we came from. Thinking of demolition of caste system is a bad idea, but nevertheless we should free of bad school of thoughts of caste. We should not make basis of caste system and hate others. We should respect the culture and tradition of others...... I have no problems in inter-caste marriages...

long live Nepal and Nepalese......................

Though, I am not a Newar...born in outside the valley and raised in Katmandu, and attended at Vanasthali school I had some very good friends of Newar community, they always gave me respect and protection while I was minority in their community. I am sure it is not a race...individuals from any race ....most of them are good and some of them are bad. Even some of individuals of mine own race are worst than any other sect.

May Peace Last in Nepal.

caste system may be our culture, tara we gotta let go of things in our culture that are not serving our best interests. u do agree taht there are certian things in our culture that are seriously messed up...do u think we should stick to those values for the next hundred years? the world is moving at a very fast pace for us to afford that. i think.
there is a reason why we dont' see too many people wth last names such as 'nepali' and 'biswakarma' in the intellectuall, scieintific, educational or political field. ..or at any influential positiion for that matter. i dont' think this is fair. it might take a gooodddd period of time for the caste systme to go away, tara i think it eventaully should. besides, the purpose of the caste system, initially, was to divide the work force, divide jobs and organize soceity, now our society is not really stuructured that way. (well it is, when it comes to all the dirty jobs), tara this is why we should let go of it.
lets keep the good things in our culutre, hunna?

i think its more of our own perception and ability to stand for our own self and do what we as an individual feel right ( ofcourse with a sense of responsibility and respecting others as well ) than the culture.

majority of the cultural intevene into our life , i think is because of our own narrow sighted mind.

and LFC as far as your comment about..if anyone could take an "untouchable" and expect their family to be thrilled......i think its not about trying to make anyone thrilled or anything, its about you being able to show them your reason and help them see beyond the caste thing.

this whole caste thing just adds more limitations in our judgement, and makes us more vulnerable and weak.

As deep rooted as the caste system might be, there should be necessary changes ,of course for the betterment.it's not gonna b easy though.
i've seen people being treated as social outcast society for marrying "untouchables" (i don know why they're called untouchables in the first place).

Once you come to know that the mind projects beauty and ugliness, that the mind projects good and bad, you stop projecting. Then for the first time you come to know what objective reality is. It is neither good nor bad, it is neither beautiful nor ugly; it simply is. All your interpretations drop with the projections.

If i remember it right...Osho, said that.

mansion,
love and romantic sparks are one thing......being practical is another.
a couple might want to spend the rest of eternity together but they still realize their familis won't be "thrilled" a bout it. countless examples in our community. nepal ma u have extended families, and one is expected to be able to answwer them. we have a very traditional community, you go agaisnt the norms, people will point fingers at you and call you names and stuff. no matter how much you claim that love is a feat greater than everything and i don't really give a shit about what other people think and i wil ltry convince my parents et. al, u know it is wayyyy easier said than done.
u can try to convince your parents ofcourse, tara you cannot change the value system that is instilled so firmly for so many years.

yeah not too long ago, there was the whole "sati" thing...that was aslo installed so firlmy for centuries. after than still for so many yrs..a widow couldnt get married..that was aso a value installed for centuries.

this whole value system in society is just there for our own conviniece and as the society grows and we want more ways out..it just changes itself to.

and by the way..if ppl just stoped thinking it as....."its way easy said than done " mentality.....half the shit would have gone by now.

who does the caste system benefit? only teh people at the top of course.
all i am saying is i think caste ssytem is rottennn and it is deterimental to our nation and the peoples, as a whole, but it will take time to get rid of it. that is why at teh very very beginning i said "i think the best any one can do is just to educate and raised their kids in the proper manner, teach them the right things, that everyone is equal and if everyone does that, i think we have done our part... " and i aslo said "
"caste system may be our culture, tara we gotta let go of things in our culture that are not serving our best interests. u do agree taht there are certian things in our culture that are seriously messed up...do u think we should stick to those values for the next hundred years? the world is moving at a very fast pace for us to afford that. i think. Ok here is a problem now ,If we you do incourage intercaste marriages ,then we will loose the whole cultural thing.most of people don't know there own langauges etc. well if you don't they social cutural descrimination and hatred is not going to go away.Isn't there a middle way out.btw ,in couple of generation we (castes) will loose our cultural backaground and last name will remain only last name -.nothing more than that. How can you save your culture and avoid hate.

When these racist mofos start a thread to promote hate against some community or race, they look forward to
1) Comments that support them.
2) Comments that oppose them.

Man, they love both of them. The first type gives them the wrong feeling that their racist thoughts are, indeed, valid . The second type gives them the oppurtunity to disseminate more hatred, which is exactly why they started the thread in the first place.

So, my point is:

To write a comment in any of these threads is making these racists a winner: providing them with what they want. You may see a lot of ppl supporting these mofos but I am sure, apart from a few ignorant ppl, lot of these comments are written by the same ppl with different ids.

So, let's stop writing comments on these threads. Please, completely ignore them. Ignore them so much that they feel that pain of being ignored, being sincerely hated, just the thing they don't realize they are giving others.

Dear friends of Sajha,
For quite sometime, our " Kurakani" has been confined to dirty, communal and provocative discussions (ofcourse there are many intellegent discussions also). I can see many of us have become very much hateful toward a perticular cast, group and religion of the the country which definitely isn't a good sign for Sajha, our society and the country as a whole.
First of all, as many of our friends of sajha have written in the past, such kind of narrow minded discussions and the use of uncivilized words will lead our site toward a "third rate" sites and I think it will loose it's credibility among intelectual and civilized circle.
In the first place, I want to remind you all, the code of conduct of sajha.com, ""Please practice civility, consideration and
respect for individual ideas at all times. Also please note that sajha is not a site to
participate in tasteless propaganda. You are free to cordially discuss on any topics possible as long as
you keep the above in mind."
Now a days we can easily see that our discussion is heading toward tasteless propagandas.
I believe, most of the sajha users are the top few percent ( may be 5-10% the most) of our county's educated and intelectual population ( total adult litracy rate being just 49% as according to UNICEF 2000-2004), we need to show others that our intelectual circle is free from personal and communal as well as provocative propagandas.
I guess we have much better issues to be discussed about. For example, even in the domain of religion, we can rather discuss about some bad and inhumane practices present in some of the world religions, more fanatic believes which is cousing unrest and destroying the harmony in human society or may be about politics, our opinion toward the present problems being faced by the country and the possible solutions (even if it might not be practiced by the accountables immediately) as well as some inspirational events that we all have seen in our experiences ( if we have one).
So finally, once again lets set good example of civilization by practicing civility in out language and if possible, in our behavior as well. Lets not blame somebody for something before looking at ourselves and so on. If followed, am sure one day we will be the source of inspiration for the generations to come and at the same time, sajha will remain as the respected site as it is now.

Namaste all nepali mitra-mitriniharu,

Well, it is indeed sad to see all these mistrust and hatred among we Nepalis going on for so long. At least now at 21st century being exposed to other ways and education, we should ingnore these things.

After all all religions are just a system for survival by exploiting ingnorant, weak and non-exposed to outside world by fear of socalled God or supreme beings. Well, these all religions started after destruction of ancient civilizations of Atalantis and from remanants of Sumeru statred the building blocks of Sindhu Civilization mixed with orther Iranian , zorastrian and other adjoining areas and ancient societies becoming into Hinduism, Buddhism, Judiasm, Christianity and finally Islam.

Only from the time of Indus Valley Civilizations it took a different distinct form combining mysteries of mighty Kashmir and Tibet what we now called Himalayas. Imagine back in time of 10000 yrs without any electricity and surrounded by dense tropical jungles. So, became the Fire, Water, Rain and Wind became the mistries to the people. Were curious about the origin of being as WE ARE TILL NOW , thus the importance given to LINGUM and GUHESWORI and again still at 21 century WE DONOT KNOW the mystery of functioning of our BRAIN with inherent Electric WAVE inside all living beings, came the MEDITATION to FOCUS this Electric WAVE to CONCENTRATE and try to UNFOLD the SECRETS of our EXISTENCE well thus came this concept of BUDDHISM. I still wonder what kind of sensation Buddha might have experienced with so called enlightenment hope each and every body can attain such experience in such a DOLDRUM TIME.

Still no body is sure about our ORIGIN as Collective Life Form, thus still wondering and trying to find and reach this ULTIMATE CREATOR-s before using these vague natural phenomenon based on Traditional Survival Instict given to each community, society and family within their Perception later formed into socalled RELIGIONS. We are still busy at 21st century trying to UNRAVELL through study and observation of this same NATURAL PHENOMENAN with what we called SYSTEMATIC and SCIENTIFIC way of percieiving things looking for answers for same OLD QUESTIONS i.e. Origin of Life forms, our Existence as Human beings, Sufferings and many other Emotional upheavels during our Life time and finally THIS VERY MYSTERY OF DEATH AND CURIOSITY AFTER DEATH.

Well, now at least being bit educated with 21st century findings we know this MULTIVERSE IS STILL AN IMMENSE MYSTERIOUS PLACE BEING GOVERNED AND INFLUENCED BY THIS UNKNOWN ANTI GRAVITY CALLED DARK FORCE AND DARK MATTER.

Thus in that sense our life and daily happenings in our place called EARTH is so miniscule in such a GRAND DESIGN or CREATION/SELF EXISTENCE (?), we will at least not in our life time will get to know the FULL MYSTERY.

Hence folks, so long as we live our MOTTO SHOULD BE LIVE AND LET LIVE, GIVE OTHERS TOO EQUAL PLACE AND OPPORTUNITY TO SUSTAIN THEIR LIFE TILL THEY LIVE AND GIVE CHANCE TO EXPLORE THIS MYSTERY OF ORIGIN, EXISTENCE AND DEATH IN A PLACE CALLED THIS TINY HANGING BALL CALLED EARTH IN SUCH DARK AND VAST EATHER.

Good luck to each and everybody!!!!!!!
