Dear Sajha friends,
One of our members - happyhappy - has brought forward a very heart wrenching case of Kritika Paudel, a 12 year old girl fighting for her life in Biratnagar. [ View Original Thread]
She has been diagnosed with early stage of blood cancer, needing new blood transfusion every 15 days until she can get a bone marrow transplant which costs 40 to 50 lakhs. The parents do not have that kind of money and they are appealing for help from public to save their daughter's life.

Technical Detail of Fundraiser
I have set up a fundraising option using gofundme.com which charges 7.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.
The finances needed for Kritika is exorbitant, but I am sure every little amount helps so please open your hearts and wallets to make a donation that counts.

There has been a small change to the fundraising company.
The previous company WEPAY.COM decided to reverse all the payments (there were 15 payments in total) citing that they found the transactions suspiscious. At this point there is nothing we can do except move the campaign to a new company. I have now moved the campaign to GOFUNDME which is a better choice for fundraisers but it comes with a bit higher fees ie 7.9% plus 30 cents per transaction.
Please use the link below to donate.
I had wanted to stay with WEPAY.COM due to their low cost ie 2.9% but I suppose they come with their own issues. So we will now use gofundme which have higher cost but it won't have such issues as wepay had.
The ones who paid earlier via wepay.com will have to donate again. Sorry for the inconvenience but this was something beyond our control.

I made few calls just to verify the case.. The case is genuine, and she happens to be the only daughter they have.. The options they have for the cure are: 1. ATG (Im not sure if I heard it right) but it is a treatment that could help save her if she got the disease by birth. They are yet to verify if she got the disease by birth or not.. I was asked to follow up after 3 days, by then they would know which procedure to proceed with. This would cost about 8 lakhs in total 2. Bone Marrow Transplant: this would cost her atleast 15 lakh or more depending on the scenario. The thing is, she is the only daughter, meaning they dont have a donor yet. So depending on the donor, the cost my fluctuate but the chances of her surviving the disease is 90%. Thanks Mercy

Not criticizing the well wished effort to save Kritika. But wanted to point out discrepancy in Admin's note above. GoFundMe is listing its fee as following, which is very very different what is mentioned in the post above. "GoFundMe's fee is 5% from each donation you receive. WePay's fee is 2.9% + $0.30 per donation. You are agreeing with all terms. "

I appreciate your concern but it's very simple. I said that GOFUNDME

You quoted the gofundme site saying their total fee is 5% plus the wepay fee of 2.9% + 30 cents which comes to 7.9% plus 30 cents per transaction, which is same as I had indicated.
What threw me off a little bit was when I was reading the gofundme.com FAQ page which stated the following
It seemed like using gofundme was a simple deal where at the end of the campaign they would send me a check and that would be the end of it. But turns out, they are using wepay.com in their back end as the payment processor, that is why you see the reference to wepay.com in there. So gofundme charges 5% and wepay charges 2.9% plus 30 c per transaction.
Hope that clarifies your confusion, and if you haven't given yet please give :)

That explains well admin. I thought, reading through this thread, that wepay and gofundme were competing entities. My apologies. Didn't have read all terms and condition on work hours. I will definitely donate to my capacity.

@ Mercynova, Appreciate that you made an extra effort to get the right information about the girl's medical condition. Did you manage to get any information about her parent's financial situation? I mean, do they just need some part of the total required cost or are they fully dependent on donation?
