Due to increasing number of politics related postings, we have created a new section called Nepali Politics Forum.

Currently only few of the recent politics related threads have been moved to the Politics Forum, but moving forward, please select the correct catagory of 'Nepali Politics Forum' when posting politics related posting.

This new section has been created to cater to the needs of politically inclined visitors while keeping the general sajha kurakani open for more general discussion and sharing helpful information to the general Nepali public living abroad or in Nepal.

Comments suggestions always welcome. Happy Friday!

Best wishes,
San

I could care less about the changes in sajha Bcos it doesnt really make any difference to me. Even though i like this site, this is the last place to visit before i turn off my system. Well, I shouldnt really say "turn off" cos it is hardly turned off; mostly 24/7. About the on going Nepali politics forum discussion, I would say it is one of the many changes that sajha admin needs to do.It does not look like a website run by some professionals when i see the front page of this site; its like a newly open grocery store; nothing is organized, things laying everywhere. To me, they seem like ran out of space for more ads. Someone should be paying attention about the content of this website. I guess people who are responsible for sajha should be experienced enough by now to think critically about readers' expectation. Finally, it is one of very few popular Nepali websites; therefore, it bears a responsibility for the society too.

I agree with prem_dai and the rest. Right now when I see the topics in the front page it looks like kurakani for teenagers. For such things there are many forums like my ktm hk kunike kuneki and so on. San whoever gave you this idea is either jealous that you are doing so well or want to ruin Sajha or has no idea about running forums. Yes sajhas layout is filled with ads and layout is simple SO WHAT? The imp thing is what is discussed in here, which is million times better than what I see in most places. You know some of my friends are trying to make something like kurakani and guess what instead of running all those high tech software?s they want to make it simple as Sajha cause they saw how good it can do.Seriously seeing the choices now, it doesn't make any better than what we see in other sites. You got more intellectual and matured members than other forums do, if you want to save that let it be the way it was. And once again...if you want to change something add small features like edit option and so on. But dont sort it...atleast not teh way teh layout of Sajha is now, if you really want to sort well San then you also have to run forum softwares which I guess is not your intention.

PS: world map hmm I dont know what happened will ask san. Anyways fire off an email at:

म अहिले भनी रनभुल्लाँ परें केरे ।

एकमेसै नै गर्नै भए पछि त यो थ्रेडलाई चईनी किन "कुराकानी" मै राखेको त ?
यो थ्रेडमा जति खुराफात, तिगडम, र राजनीतिको कुरो त चईनी त्यो
नेपेको रिपब्लीकमा नि कहिले नि थिएन ल ।

Personally, its indifferent to me.

Yes, Lets Enjoy the diversity.

हुन त हिजो पनि लेख्या हो, फेरी कति कचकच गर्ने? तर एउटा analogy चैं दिमागमा आइहाल्यो।
Sajha kurakani is just like a delicious curry with politics as salt. Other topics are spices, onions etc. San has taken the salt out and placed in another saucer and covered it with a lid. So, everytime we want to eat the curry, we have to open the lid of the saucer, that is we have to click the Nepali politics forum, and take the salt, which is inconvenient and inarticulate. We can't enjoy the curry because the salt hasn't mixed with the curry and other spices properly. So, it is better to let salt blend with the curry. Sometimes, salt may be too much, but it will become okay with time. These are the times when political hurricanes are flooding our home country. So, it could naturally be salty. But when everything becomes settled, the kurakani curry will retain its original taste and flavour.
In the past, the ongoing incidents and situations dominated kurakani and this is only natural. At the time of Iraq massacre, almost all the threads turned red with blood of Nepalese brothers. At the time of Feb.1, most of the threads filled with the political change. But this is life. Whatever major incident happens in general life should be reflected in Kurakani and it is not possible until political discussions are not allowed free.

In the case of running the polls regarding this in the right hand corner of the page, I think a particular poll is run only for about two or three weeks, and many people aren't aware of those polls, like myself most of the time. The emergence of lots of political thread is itself an indication that how much people enjoy politics side by side with other general topics. So, San should regard this as the result of that poll rather than that small obscure poll. Hope your experimentation will end in a couple of days and we will once again enjoy the delicious salt-balanced Kurakani curry.

It's clear now that how few people posted in the threads under POLITICAL FORUM in last 2 days. Is it because last two days happen to be weekend? I don't think so.

When people post or create thread, they don't perceive their writings as POLITICAL exclusively. They juts simply want to express themselves... no one gonna think before posting anything if they are writing "POLITCAL" or "GENERAL".

Now San has asked people to think before writing... and if a person decides that his/her postings gonna be political, then he has to go for that extra click to POLITCIAL FORUM. And that alone will deter him/her to express... and rather would keep quiet.

This thing just don't work... There is no need to do POLL.. haha... don't think to achieve everything by polling.. Sometimes, common sense is just quite adequate.

Whoever is the admin or owner,

Making Politics forum is not a great idea, why only politics? Have other forums as well, patriotic forum, nostalgia forum, Nepali-in-US forum and so on...

If you want sajha to be popular and lively, don't bend the rules

Just let it go with the flow

My quick opinion:

If it is possible at all, I think it is not a bad idea to organize Kurakani postings into categories. However, I think it is a bad idea to place politics section into inner pages. And my definition of 'bad' is not in a MORAL sense but strictly in a COMMERCIAL sense,.

My best suggestion: Give a small sub-window (showing, let's say, latest 10 active threads) for 'Nepali Politics Forum' at the front page. To make a space for that, you will need to reduce the number of threads in the 'Non political Kurakani section'

However, my biggest concern is about the Jhanjhat of determining who and what should decide whether a thread is political or otherwise. What to do with a thread that starts on a non-political theme but turns political later on or a thread that starts on a political theme but develops into a thread suitable for 'Non-political Kurakani section' ?

I am sure San will be spending a lot of his time transferring threads, particularly if 'Political threads' become second class citizens of Sajhaland restricted to dwell in it's inner pages only.

In any case, I think I can adapt myself to any change and will be happy with it as long as I feel Sajha is bringing readers for what I post and posters for reading what I think is worth.

After reading all of your comments and the activity in the polls it is clear that there are few that are not happy about it, and there are few that are fine with it. The result of the poll does suggest that it might not be a good idea to move the politics related threads to a different page.

After considering different options, I literally woke up with a solution that should work for everyone.

The solution would be empowering the visitors with the ability to determine what they see on the home page. It is fairly simple and straightforward process whereby you can select what you want to see. Please click on the CUSTOMIZE button next to the ADD button besides kurakani on the homepage to empower yourselves.

On a side note, the main goal of sajha is to bring Nepalese together. Politics tend to divide us and it seems like it is impossible to stress on the goal of sajha without making some sort of change within the site. As we all know, politics and society are interrelated and go hand in hand. If we, as educated representatives of our country, continue to participate in disparaging attacks using foul language, showing utter intolerance for another's political beliefs, then how can any kind of political landmark be achieved in Nepal, where most people are not even educated? Politics is supposed to lay the groundworks for a better society, but it's not happening as we all know. Let us work towards creating a better society which will lay the groundworks for a better politics.

Let us choose to participate in positive discussions that are productive in nature and not vindictive and intolerant of each other.

Best wishes,
San

San ji,
Its a good idea of yours to introduce the customize button to let choose the users the content of kurakani. Atleast, we can now adjust the salt by ourselves in Kurakani curry. But the original page should first contain the political threads which should give the users the option to exclude those threads if they want to, not the other way round, which is the case now. Because thats the layout of the original Kurakani before you introduced the Nepali politics forum and the number of people as shown by the poll wanting to include politics in Kurakani are more than those wanting the opposite. So, the default homepage should contain politics, I mean to say in short. Those who don't want politics will have option to customize and separate politics.

I agree with world map...since few days Sajha is kinda dry. All those intellectual users are missing..i dont mean to say others are less better but still dont want to compare this place with other Nepali sites. And San I understand what you are trying to do, but with this current layout it wont look good....unless you revamp it.

In my honest opinion, all people had right to put their honest opinion about anything andeverything...Politics is rather a part of life, affecting every aspect of it...and having different opinions about the political beleif and discussions doesn't means that WE ARE DIVIDED...Rather it will mean that we are having DEMOCRACY at least at SAJHA and using it to the full extent. I don't say that others aren't intellectual...but it really feel bad not to see the good intellectual discussions about our country, our homeland and all the news related to it....So I want to urge San to put the politics forum back on the SAJHA...Hope my opinion counts...
Just my two pence,
Nirman

Well I was told that Sajha would fellow the majority votes. it seems majority has spoken clearly to leave political discussion as before so why natak of customize and bla//////// once you put something for vote you have to do accordingly??The fact is clear 38% wants political thread is to be separated and 57% wants it like before so be an examples of democracy and stick with your saying you would do what majority want??..it seems minority should have customize not to those who are in majority?
