Regarding nepotism in Kathmandu University, there has been number of letters published from the faculties as well as KUPA in e-kantipur (24-27 May). Similarly, there are other write-ups in Nepali languages dailies and weeklies. We, ex graduates of KU, have compiled all these and put them in the following blog;

I looks like people who are seeking to topple the dean and his team of top management at Kellog School of Management at Northwestern University (Evanston, ILL) are just bunch of newly arrived Indian immigrants from southern India playing some nasty games trageted squarely at north Indians. South Indians have traditionaly have strong distaste of north Indians so these south Indians like to continue the same game of hate for hate game that they have been so familar back home.

I guess this sort of hate to hate game among Desis at Kellog School of Management will not help either the school or the players involved.

Dean Dipak C. Jain who is the dean at Kellog School of Management is no less brutal...he has set up a strong defence line by recommending the promotion of only his very close allies from different departments of different schools at Northwestern University.

Lets see where the game is headed.

I know where these henious characters Mr. Sameer Dixit, Mr. Sijan Baral and Mr. Surendra Raj Kafle are ,they are in Freaking US these days....Bush must be proud ..he got the company...these sort of people who are only self centred ruined our country and fled ....hell with them....now`what will happen to all who supported them......poor toilet papers.....lets see who else` are toilet papers........

What these blogs trying to prove , even these people can't manage/control one simple blog and put some sort of nepostism within blog restricting others ..what in the earth are they demanding and why??????

Is Dr. Sameer Dixit staying in KU or going to US? I thought he is still here. It will be a big loss for KU, if he leaves.

This is all about idealism vs oppurtunism. The people like Sameer always look for the oppurtunity but never forget to talked about idealistic society. Once he had his mission to defame KU , he headed for USA. These are the people who does not build their home and try to destroy others home also. Save KU from those culprits.

Dr. Sameer Dixit is the Gen. Sec. of KUPA - he won't leave KU or Nepal. At least, I hope he will not. We have to encourage people like him to contribute to KU and not give up.

Sameer Dixit started to Defame KU because he had hard time getting in as a faculty in KU. Of course, KU started Bachelor of Biotechnology and he is expertise in biotech, too. But at that very moment, I think there are enough expertise and thats why they started the program. But, Sameer being a son of ONE OF THE RICHEST father in Nepal, does not wanna go to Gov. job, neither to TU as TU is like an ocean and in KU he's gonna get a very good response. So, he forcefully entered at KU at the middle. By FORCEFULLY means he used two great political forces 1. His in-laws who were Prasai's of Jhapa, very good polotical position in Nepali Congress and 2. His own family grounds - he is from the famous Dixit family who are the richest Nepali families but with affiliations MAOISTs too.
Now VC sir is compelled to take him and to the top of that, he needed PROFESSOR position just because he completed all his post secondary degrees in foreign. But VC sir went according to what KU rule says and just gave him ASSISTANT PROFESSOR as entry level.
Now that is the point he started being pissed off and he sweared to defame VC and his KU and I think he succeeded a bit. He gathered all the faculty who do really need a change in their immediate management. Like Suresh Bhakta Shrestha. He is returning from Japan after his PhD by next year. When he left for his study, he was Head of Department of Mechanical and now he wants his same position back when he will return. So he is trying his depth to remove and defame Dr. Bhola who is Asst. Dean oif engineerign and HOD of Mechanical. Anup Banskota is trying to be HOD of Computer dept. and he is operating that blogsite. But, to tell you frankly..... I think we must have some change in leadership in Computer Dept. Anup being student of KU knows much much better and his is a good academician too. Dhaneshwor Mishra of mechanical is in hot list because he was asked to leave HOD position when Dr. Bhola arrive from Norway. Give me only one name of a mechanical student who says Dhaneshor is a good to be HOD. He is a disaster. Sijan Baral is pissed off because VC sir hired another PA in his position. Sijan used to be a english faculty and VC's PA too, but for some reason VC hired another PA. Everyone know why Prof. Surendra raj Kafle is pissed off. I am 100% sure about this fact that his own daughter said once "Papa, please do not teach in my class anymore as all of my friends were laughing at you and I cannot bear that" Now he wants of VC (or at least registrar)
Now as somebody said earlier, Sameer used all these people as toilet papers and when he will leave KU (heard he is in US) i donno what these used toilet papers will gonna do. I know Medical school , there is a lot going and we really need a big change on that. But in KU itself.... lets put our two hands together and pray Saraswati Mata to save KU from these Tsunamis.

More immediate need of KU is to save its medical school. Who are the people who can save KUMS from dropping in a big hole? It is in a really bad state and we can not see who can take leadership in KUMS.

In my view, no one can save KUMS. KUMS is doomed. In the next 5-6 years, MBBS curriculum of KUMS will be de-recognised by the Medical Council and KUMS will become Kathmandu University Paramedical School (This seems the most likely future of KUMS, going by the current trend there).

It looks as if KU and KUMS do not see the emergency of the situation in KUMS - they thing it will continue no matter how under-strength it is. The brightest hope we can expect is from Dr. Yubaraj Sharma and Dr. Navin Thapa. They are both decent work very hard and help their students. If Dr. Sharma left clinical program would be a dunk and if Dr. Thapa left the basic sciences has no hope.

Dr. Navin Thapa is a decent and very helping to everyone. He is the one who is keeping up the spirit of all medical students. He is a good academician too. Kudoooos to Dr. Navin Thapa, save KU

Do you know anything about when Dr. Navin is coming back. We remember him saying he would only be back after getting enough PBL and research expertise needed for the future of KUMS. In all his time at KUMS, he has never slandered anyone but tried to work with everyone: Dr. Karki, Dr. Pant, Dr. Ram Kantha, Dr. Nastu Sharma. He was the saviour of KUMS before during the dark days after Dr. Karki left. He kept reassuring the students that he would remain in KUMS at least until the first batch graduated. Dr. Yubaraj is also like that. He also cares about the students.

Problem at KU is far less serious than the one at Kellog School of Management of Northwestern University with Kellog School of Management Dean Dipak C. Jain and his manparitantra.

I think saving KUMS is more serious than saving Kellog's. It might be less fun but certainly more important for us, Nepalis.

I think KUMS is real problem here.

In KU people like panna thapa, bhupendra bimal chettri, roshan bhajracharya , subodh sharma should given a chance to lead... Second generation people like kafle, puspa raj cannot tackle the situation in ku... but beware of rotten fish like suresh bhakta, anup banskota, sameer dixit, sijan baral...

I agree with Roshan Sir and Panna Sir are capable but Subodh Sir is more like same dyangko mula when it comes to comparing with Pushparaj etc.

How can KUMS be saved? KUMS faculty and students are demoralized because KUMS has not got solid infrastructure. KUMS must invest in training of its staff in PBL and new teaching methodologies. Staff development is non existing so something has to be done immediately. We need a person with long term vision to take KUMS forward.

It looks as if those calling for change in KU have run out of steam. We hope this does not mean the KU leadership thinks they do not need to change.
