Ive been reading his articles, listening  interviews in Nepali media for last few years (esp in Himal Media publications). I was little curious to know abt his background, googled and asked few friends and they also asked the same question 'Yes Who is C K Lal?'

We all know he is a political analyst who writes in English and Nepali perfectly with his own logic, then speaks in Hindi (I heard him in BBC Hindi service).

I wd be glad to know more about him. If u know something, please do share.

We Nepalis have a habit of critisizing everyone, if someone gets attention for their work, then we just critisize them without even understanding about them or their work and no respect whotsoever for their age or their contributions.

As a former employee of Himalmedia (not in Journalism though), i have high respect for the Dixits and also CK lal. I feel that they are one media who has the quality and an environment to grow. At least from what i know these people are the ones who love Nepal and like to dedicate their lives to Nepal. Remember both the dixits were very successful in US in their career and they chose to return to Nepal and establish a media house. The media is having its own problems as any other business house in Nepal but for me they have been my role models.

If i can ever do what they have done to the country, then i would think i am a very successful person.

I love the language of CK Lal whether it is English or Nepal. Actually i used to read his articles in Kathmandu Post and had a very high opinion about him(thought he was young and handsome Lol). When i joined Himalmedia, i was like where is CK Lal, i want to see him. When i actually saw him, i was really amazed. Well he is the simplest man you can come across and he never gives you a vibe that he is a so so journalist of Nepal whereas all this newcomers will be walking with bigger that themselves tag around them.

However, again i could be biased because i worked there but seriously working with Kunda Dixit was the one of the best learning of my life so far.

Let's get one thing straight:

By definition, CK Lal is NOT a journalist. He is a widely read and critiqued(gr?) political analyst and a very opinionated but prolific writer.

Better to keep things where/how they are.

also i do not like when i present my arguments on subject matter, i do not get into in a personal level, wheather i agree or not,  and unless someone comes in my way.

this fellow seems to have poor english understanding. i was implying that CK LAL might have joined M.Sc  seeking or sensing some sort of promotion, as many people do..othewise what would have compelled him to join school on that age, I am not saying he can not . But one can question rt?

And one should know, departmental transfer in govt is always a possibilty. Again, he does not have any knowledge about planning, he should know that kishor thapa architect planner and currtently joint secretary was the head of outer ringroad project. not a civil engg from sada bibhag. Pura kadariya is head of the melamchi project, not a water supply/environmental engg. And this guy seems to have habit of  understanding the issue from his own little mind, where as the world is much bigger and broad. He seems very happy getting a degree from IOE, if at all he is true..but boy does not have any idea beyond that...must have come here through DV lottery! and left the govt office!

Kanchhu, take a minute to read these lines. Rahulbhai was in IOE as a TEACHER OF M.SC. IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, not as a STUDENT as you guessed yourself.  There is a big difference between a TEACHER and STUDENT.

You are really kanchhu in many terms. Don’t make any assumptions about ‘Civil service’ and ‘Rahulvai’ without any solid base. I can say this ‘without solid base’ because I know both better than you though I don’t know perfectly. Seems you just want to ‘win’ based on your mentality. I don’t care whatever you said about CK Lal, the basic topics of this thread, but don’t present yourself lightly in those type of forums. This is just a suggestion. Requested to calm down and no offence at others.

 

BTW, you are talking about ‘Limit State Design’. Can you say which other design method is? And without googling if you believe in your capacity.

 

 

And back to the topics of thread, I also personally don’t like CK Lal though I have heard many good things about him.

If you are good teacher, you would be doing good and having well respected scholarly life, in IOE. You must be one of those loser..who might have got into teaching by some sort of political link. And this is how he seem to be knowing all the politcal activities of people like CK LAl.

Well if you are from civil dept,  people like Prajowl lal pradhan, Dr. Markey, Dr. Aryal, and so on are doing far better and contributing to the cause. Just because if you have got teaching oppurtunities for one odd semester does not make you professor.Btw, Narayan kafle, once the president  of NSU/FSU was also teaching in IOE, environmteal engg dept..You want me to believe he is a good professor who got into IOE by grace of Jib Raj..there might be lot of jerks..so just stop it!  I have been there and seen there, people does not have capacity vanishing within a blink of time. So stop giving false arguments..and chana you seem to be knowing rahul lot more than he does! lol..

remember one quote, " Faleko brikchya ko hango najhuke ko kahan cha ra"...I can not imagine any of respected professor from IOE coming to saja and making such stupid arguements in sajha...and just because you title starts from " cutting edge", do not think that person is also belong to same period, " cutting edge"..

By the way let me tell you and have repeatedly told you that I am not full time teacher and I have never claimed as  a good professor. I  am basically governement employee and love to share my knowledge to students from Engineering Colleges and  Medical college as well.

You don't have to teach me how to respect and  whom to respect. That's why I respect, C.K Lal, Prof, Bhagawan Ratna Kansaakar, PS Joshi, MANIK Tuladhar. If you were graduated good school,  shoudn't have mentioned these silly things. So please stop your baseless arguments.

Kanchu boy you are unnecessarily smearing a respected personality like CK Lal. I don't always agree with what he writes but he is a man of integrity, definitely not someone who is worth getting slagged off by a dimwit like you. I know him well and he is a well-grounded gentleman. He is a thoroughly learned man and  doesn't shy away from  expressing what he believes. You obviously seem to have a different political leaning but that doesn't mean you have to attack someone you don't really know much about.

kanchu saathi please do respect other people alright. Bottom line is that CK Lal is a good writer

he writes not only in political things but he can analyze the social changes that is happening in and

around the country too.

rohitgrg, I agree! ok  dude, I also wrote some time i like his arguments and some time not. and if you are saying he is good gentleman, I am also not saying bad gentle man. But do i have right to anyalyze, follow the critiques who does not follow the same school of thought? as you do..or not..? and if you are saying you know him there is a way to present your arguments.
