Do you know the fact guys? Many many many people
think these songs and videos belong to Maoists because these songs have some
sort of Maoist’s flavour. This is 100%
WRONG. These songs are composed and recorded by RAKTIM
SASKRITIK PARIWAR. Jeevan Sharma (real name: Ramkrishna Acharya) was the
key person of Raktim. Mr. Jeevan is an extremely talent signer. He just does
not sing, he writes beautiful songs, composes the music and gives such a
melodious and emotional taste. He is master in many kinds of instruments like
Basuri, Guitar and Harmonium. If he had been in the music industry, he would
have made more than a hit singer makes now. However he chose to sing people's
song like this and lived a simple life if not miserable. Jeevan Sharma had some
difficult cross-roads when he was to offer his 8th Album. However he continued
to sing the songs. His songs became so popular among political parties in Nepal (mainly
communists) that the listeners could not identify who these songs belong to. So,
let's respect the devotion of Jeevan Sharma to Nepali music and people’s songs,
especially the songs of oppressed class.
RAKTIM was originally associated with National
Peoples Front (Nepal)
led by Mohan Bikram Singh and Chitra Bahadur KC, Pyuthan, Arghakhachi and
Baglung as their strongholds. Raktim published at least 12 consecutive parts of
Albums. Raktim also featured the Stage-Drama called "THULI" which was hit
sometime in 1997-98.
Just for your information, Maoists band was the SAMANA PARIWAR. I am not
sure if this exists anymore.
More abt Jeevan Sharma: yes Bikash, he went to sing on UML's program. Tyo tehi 8th bhag nikalne bela ko kura ho, but later he came back to Raktim with a song called "Farkadai Chhu Merai Gau Ma". I am unaware now if he is with UML again. Whatever, he is a good singer. He has all tools.
Sarangi ko ta parakhi nai ho som ta. Sarangi bajaudai magna pani hideko re school padne bela, just in the name of Janabadi bichar.
He is not in UML. He joined and left UML instantly long ago and returned to his old home-Janamorcha, then led by Chitra Bdr. KC. But now, the party has been splitted. I am not sure, but according to his background, he should be in CPN-Ekiktit now(Amik Sherchan Group, Pari Thapa is in that group).
Anyway, forget those parties, who cares them? He is people's singer. Thats all!!!
This thread seems dedicated to RAKTIM. Personally I like Raktim paraiwar. Especially Jeevan, his singing career and miserable life are respectful. He is still walking in the remote villages with his original songs even in a small gathering. He has Masters degree but he never insisted to do a job rather than promoting janabadi songs. When I met him personally in a remote district headquarter, wearing old sandals and with a old bag, he was not attracted by higher standard of life. I dont know about the current association of raktim to any party but he is a real people's singer and respected by Nepalese leftists.
