Let me give you some proper direction on this matter! Here are the steps that you can follow;

1. Log out.

2.Get yourself a feminine nickname such as, lonely_girl  etc

3. Change your title to something like, "Alone in this crazy world" or " never ending highways"

After you have done that use the same content that uve used before. And trust me there would be more then 20+ postings here. Few would even take the initiative to email you. And some would even throw their phone number.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From my experience when it comes to helping someone, significant number of  nepalese step back. We are selfish creature we would only help if we need something in return. Thats the way life goes here, thus giving you a heads up. I am sori if you feel that i'm making fun of your situation but i'm stating the bitter truth that you need to grasp early. Never bother to ask help from your family relatives. They are only good to talk on the phone. Thats all. Even if they make 100K dont bother to ask them for any monetiry help or anything else. They wont even pick up your phone the moment they sense that you are in trouble and they might need to write you a check.(may not apply in all cases)

Here are few things that would get you started irrespective to where ever you may reside now.

1. Go to any where in college and aks if they are hiring, cafeteria or atheletics department or anywhere on campus. Grab whatever you get dont worry about the pay.

2. Ask them for employment letter thus you could apply for social security. (if you already have one then ignore 1 and 2). Then apply for a Identification card  or Driver's lisence in DMV or whereever they issue one.

3.After that you can apply for credit card. Go to any bank and apply for a secured credit card. This is the safest way. Put down $500 they would give you $500 credit line use it for a year. Then they would increse to $1000 or something likewise and give you your initial deposit back. Or another way to apply is call citi bank and pick one of their student credit cards and mention that you are a engineering student. Always pay your monthly payment on time and never miss one.

Listen nepalicyko, there is so much more to it. It takes time for everthing . Best of luck and Welcome to America.

Good luck

YekloYatri

nepalicyko,

yekloyatri is totally right. His insights should help you.

Yekloyatri you made me feel guilty. I know  I wouldn't have responded to this question. Now we have different priorities and sajha has become a  good place to make fun.

Yekloyatri is 100% right. Whatever hs has said, follow it and you'll be just fine. It takes time to learn more about every thing, but for now as a beginner, his suggestions are good enough.

Nepalicyko, good luck to you and Welcome to the US!!!

"Hey all i am new in usa. i am very curious to know about how to get better job, how to improve credit history, such kind of things. so if any one that let me know i appriciate all answer."

I am not sure about your visa status;
If you are on F1 then concentrate on your studies. If you study hard and maintain good grades then you can apply not only for scholarship but also campus assistance ship. Never ever think of stying illegal.I have found so many Nepalese folks who have given up their studies and solely concentrated on work, who earn mere 8/9 per hour. This will do no good for your future. You will end up stying illegal in USA and will never get chance to frequent your native.
If you hold green card then things will be lot easier for you. Do what 'ekloyatri' has suggested you. His suggestion will help you to build your credit history. Once you have good/excellent credit history you can easily get loan from any bank to set up your own business. Currently i have found grocery store/gas station seems to be very profitable business for people like us.

Let me expand a little more (forgive me for laying out a picture so vividly). Assuming that you are here to study, this is how your life would roll(if not being funded by some other source).

1. In the first semester you would take 16-19 credits and live a carefree life. Next semester you would worry about your tuition and thus end up going to Ocean City or to some other place where you could bust your rear off and make money for college.

2.You would be socially impaired. In the first semester you would love to hang out with your room mates and think every thing is cool. But later your attitude would change. You would look at everyone with the skeptical glasses on. You would realize, whats the value of friendship? You would also realize the value of money and how much dear and near it is. You would also realize "DON'T TRUST ANY ONE."

3. By busting your rear up every now and then you would keep paying your bills. You grade would be somewhere around +-3.0(not valid on all cases). On weekends you would end up with couple of beer and same old faces (later you would dislike that too).

4. Years and years would pass by and you would feel that you have just arrived here. It would take approximately on an average 5 years for you to complete your bachelor degree. Just because you opt to transfer to atleast 3 colleges.

5. You would go back home, everyone would expect gifts. The question they would ask you would be, "How much money did you make?" "When will you finish your degree." "when are you going back." "Are you planning on getting married." etc.. You think their question is absurd and thus realize they are knuckle head. You visit would be limited and you would spend most of the time spending and drinking lavishly and you would love to go to place which you could not afford before.

6..Finally a day would come and you would proudly graduate looking at all those years and tears. You would be really happy and proud. And then you would get yourself tangled in the mess of H1B's( if you are not LPR ofcourse). You struggle through interview ( if you aren't lucky enough to be offered a job). Some start their masters right away while some don't even bother.

7. You finally get yourself a decent job and no matter what you study, you would end up making a starting salary of 45K-55K. You would buy yourself a new car, Hell some would even buy a house and some would send the money back home as to get off debt.

8. Three years would pass by. You would feel your life is a weird never ending loop that keeps on rolling. Work like a war horse Monday through Friday and then get drunk or party on Friday night wake up late on a Saturday and then wait for Monday to come so that you could start the cycle again.

9. You would feel very dissatisfied because you would like to spend time with your family that you cant since you want to live here and work. You would be in such a dreadful situation that you dont even wanna go back coz now you salary is somewhere around 100K. On top of that you are not satisfied with your social life. You dont even have a decent partner that you can count on.

10. Your parents give you lot of pressure as they want to play with their grandchildren. They want you to get married but with Nepalese only and of specific cast(not all parents). Some get married some still wait while some get married but their spouse don't get any visa. And you keep juggling between your martial relationship, family and your job.

11. By the time you open your eyes 10 years is gone. Now think again? Was is all worth if you are not satisfied? Is this the dream that you were really willing to chase?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think i've said too much for someone who just seeking for advice for a good job and good credit history. This is a typical example and may not apply for everyone. Some people get married to US citizen and have their own direction in life. Some are even lucky to win a million dollar lottery. While some die in accident whereas some get send back. Once again I wish you a warm welcome to this wolf trap or quicksand. Enjoy your stay.

Wishes,
YekloYatri

the stuffs told by yekloyatri is true.. whatever you do don't screw up your credit history.. as soon as you get like credit card.. don't throw the party and buy some clothings.. just save it.. most people use the credit cards only in the extreme condition in the future as all people do out here in US.. till the time you go to yoru university probably after 3 yrs from now.. you should have like $20000 in your CC so that u can graduate.. but ahile ko lagi chahi.. don't spend daddy's money here and there.. just live the simple lifestyle..

if you want to jump areally far.. then get khayreni and get married..

"So where is our smile that we brought while coming from Nepal? "

You make a valid point. Where is the smile? Where is the passion? Where are those times when you thought these are your moments? I guess you could compare that to, buying a new flashy dress with red, blue and white color all over it. You loved it when it was in the store. It was darn expensive but somehow by convincing your family or friends you bought one. Here convincing means debt(not in all cases). The first day you got it and you put it on was the best moment I believe.I wish you could freeze that moment. I hope that's the smile that you are talking about. As you start to wear in on a regular basis its fabrics, color and charm slightly fades away. You end up washing it more thinking it would come back! Relentless effort! You can't bring back that charm that your dress had but yeah you can always fake a smile, isn't it?

A Dreamer,
YekloYatri

Bender,

When i looked at the title of the thread, I was curious. I gave it a click just to see how the individual might be excited or might have that "Smile" (we were talking above).... My second thought was not to respond. I was thinking to hit the back button but when i started typing i never stopped, neither could i help myself from writing all of the above. Thank you for reading this post.

Best Wishes,
YekloYatri

At the same time would like to suggest you one thing...this is life...there is happiness in every pain...you expressed the painful reality in such a way that gave some people a good vision of how to start...isn't this a reason to be happy for you:) There are such little aspects if we collect would make our world happy...your writing style, your experience in the expression, your maturity suggest that you are more knowledgeable than me...but try my suggestion...You would be happy...

Thank you.

Regards,

N_Maan

N_Maan, Thanks for reading the post, though i was not the originator ( I guess Nepalicyko proceeded with my suggestion). And also many thanks for the advice. You are correct when you said simple joys are precious.

Atomic, many thanks for reading.
