I came to USA with Student visa around 1987. At those time all the students here were HMG financed sachib and other peps who worked for Nepal gov.
I think Ron Psota started the trend ...that Nepalese can study in USA, as BP koirala started Nepali congress, Prachanda started Maobadi.
Around that time we were 3 students at Bellevue college. With Rons help Bellevue College florished with Foregin student. Ron would help find a Job to needy Nepali....even gave them ride back and forth from work place. I still remember his faded but potent Toyota Celica, which had saved me from being fired from MPS & Aksarben.
now is the time to help this Great guy.. After all Ron is the one ...we have so many Nepali students ...here in USA...
I beg Please Help at least $ Das dollar..

I am surprised that international advisor at Bellevue University actually supported foreign students to work off campus. Did he make sure you had a permit or he didn't care? Nothing against you or him, but just surprised.

Hope he gets better.

If you are/were in Nebraska then you will know what Ron's contribution is to nepalese community. he would go extra mile to help international students especially Nepalese students. We were lucky to have him as an international student advisor. During one point, around 300 Nepalese were attending Bellevue University. I hear there are not many Nepalese students attending BU currently. and I firmly believe the main reason is the Ron.

I believe Ron knew about the Nepalese students working off campus. He has visited Nepal and India many times and he knew what's the Nepalese students condition. He would even go drop off/pick up studnets from work site. And I am lucky to say I used his services many times when needed.

Mike Bibby and others, I understand what you trying to say but this thread is about RON PSOTA. Sajha is a great medium to reach out nepalese people who are/were in Omaha and its surrounding areas. Many of my frens have called and asked me about Ron's well being after they saw the thread here in Sajha. So I plead to my Nepalese brothers n sisters not to deviate this thread from Ron. He is a great respected person and he needs your generosity.

Ron if you frequent this site, we all know you can get through this. We have a faith in you.

One time there were 300 nepalese at BU, which is 100% true and there are not that much because Raid in each an every appt at Rivera appt as well as all over Omaha by INS back in 1997 made them to transfer to different colleges all over the nations, also Nepalese got caught at OTC for Scratching off their Social number was another cause as well. FDR quit hiring student and so did OTC, what else there is to get off campus job. This might be the main reason and International advisor might be the second.

Mike Bibby,
Seems like you know a lot about Omaha but not enough. Ron has not only helped students in Bellevue University but also have picked up students who were going to UNK from the airport and let them stay at his place. He would even drive 3 hours to UNK to drop them off. I can't explain it here enough how much he would do for any international students (specially Nepali students). He has travelled all the way to Nepal to get one Nepali student back to US for his masters who had some INS issue while he was doing his undergrad and had to leave the country.

There were many things that might not have been legally correct but ethically and morally they were at that time. I don't want to elaborate but Nepali students whether you are from Bellevue or other states who have come into his contact know what kind of person he is. I've seen students who never went to Bellevue or lived in Bellevue are donating for his cause. Lets not deviate this thread and let the people who know about him and admire him put down their feelings here. He has done a lot to us and it is time that we pay back!

Mike Bibby, you don't have to take from someone to give back. Perhaps, you have never given so you don't know the joy.

This is the first time I am writing in this forum. And I had to register as I couldn’t take people’s comments. First and foremost I prey for quick recovery of Ron’s heath and hope that it will get better soon.
Even thought I live in New York area for last eight years, I still love Nebraska because of people like Ron. I am sure without Ron Bellevue graduates like me would have very very very hard time graduating. Ron was not just an International advisor; he was every thing you hoped for; a host family, a tour guide, a driver, a swimming teacher, a listener, a mail man or whatever. I believe Ron has done a tremendous job for Nepal than any Nepalese living in US or aboard for that matter. Helping more than 300 Nepalese students graduate is not a joke (I haven’t helped few).

And finally few arrogant who can write few words in English, and think they are big shot, please don’t show your talent in this thread. Your comments seriously need some Psychiatrist help. It is shame that some of us haven’t learned to respect humanity and still discriminate against sex.

Ron,
I hope you will feel better and for those of you who took an advantage of you. Let me clearly tell them.

AX,nepallover,jerseynepal, dukullanthe,
Does your wife like to wake up every morning and see 15-20 people sleeping in her living room. I know Ron was a kind hearted but you need to understand this guy is american and they have a privacy and MAY BE for for this reason his wifeand his kids (one living in Ca and another living in FL) left him are not in touch. I would say you guys took an extra advantage from him. Like you guys said he was a driver and he was our guide, can't you freaking buy a car for 500 dollars or ask with some one (another nepali) for a ride instead of asking a married man with family for a ride. Now its time for you guys to make an arrangement between you all (one living in CA and another living in NY, both fled NE after 1997 Raid by the INS) go back and spent at least a week with Ron instead of barking like a dog here on sajha saying what RON did and how much we need to help him.
I can make a Freaking list who took an advantage of him and who didn't among those 300 graduates from Bellevue.

Conclusion
QUIT barking here in sajha and instead fly back to HUSKER land and spent atleast a week with him, that will be helpfull and he (RON) would be happy to see you folks after almost a decade

if this thread is dedicated to Ron, post your comment at
http://www.nnsociety.org/ but not here , its public forum and anyone has right to say anything in here

Peace

Mike BibbY:

NO offense intended, but you surely need to keep off this thread just because you DON'T KNOW anything about who RON is and what he has done for us.
