I did not know Bijaya Kumar is running a program in Kantipur TV. If you haven't heard about it then here is the link.

This is an email I received recently from Kantipur Group.

*******************************************

Greetings from Kantipur Group!

Fist of all we would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for showing your kind interest to subscribe Kantipur TV. We are definitely encouraged by your response. Including you we have received more than 20,000-subscription interests from around the world. In spite of this huge demand and interest for a home country based media in the Diaspora community we have unfortunately not been able to serve this demand.

As you must be aware that the present Nepalese government has introduced new and unfair regulatory mechanisms because of which our entire international distribution plans have been severely affected. Hence our original plans to broadcast KTV world-wide has been indefinitely delayed.

But there is good news! Very Soon our popular portal is going to launch daily Kantipur Television News show and current affair programs in its site. There will be a one-hour daily prime time Nepali news called Kantipur Samachar which, presently has more than 90% viewership rating within Kathmandu Valley. The current affair shows (Talk Shows) namely Kantipur Bahas presented by Indra Lohani, Fireside by Bhusan Dahal and Frontline by Bijay Kumar Pandey are becoming the main platform for political debates and discussions. Extremely popular, these shows will help you understand the underpinnings of the Nepali political landscape. All of these are very soon going to be the part of our website www.kantipuronline.com.

We hope till the time we are able to bring a full time complete broadcast in your region this mechanism will help you to take benefit of our services in some ways.

We would appreciate to have your feedback.

Thanking you

Vijay Kumar!!!!!!!!

i have met him and worked with him. Anybody who meets with him knows how unprofessional and unorganised he is. If you meet him once you will kow that there isnt any person in the face of earth that is soo proud of himself, who humiliates others sooo much and is also a total phyco. He has issues, gets drunk everyday, sees psychiatrist every two weeks and and throws newspaper at his employees' face just because he does not greet him or say nameste every morning.

he runs a small production company in nepal with 90 % of the company share belongs to the co-owner of soaltee hotel.he used to produce dishanirdesh, and was shot and edited in nepal tv.

I am not lieing thats who he is.. and once u know him you will hate him sooooo much..

Kantipur TV is the only television bussiness that is running in huge loss. all the co- owners of ktv, the russian business tycoons like jiwa lamichane and upendra mahato who invested crores of rupees to establish ktv, ran away from ktv because of the attitude of other bosses and the loss ktv is in right now. ktv will never go on satelite because it never gets license. other channels however, like nepal 1 tv, channel nepal can be seen in lot of countries around the world. ktv has license for kanthmandu only.Though kantipur boasts itself as being the pioneer media house in nepal, i think it is the only tv station who runs on chamchagiri and natawaad. other television station like channel nepal and image channel is doing much much better than ktv.

as said by a person who is working in KTV.

Mamta:

Everyone can conclude you are biased about Bijaya Kumar and you have no ability to analyse the capacity of Bijaya Kumar.

Whatever Mamta wrote about Vijay Kumar, I have very little to no doubt about it.
I met him once in a fitness club in Kathmandu. I was playing badminton with my family members and he was playing with a girl on an adjacent court. I mistakenly picked up his shuttle that was lying on the side thinking it was ours. I was quite surprised to see his reaction filled with anger and hostility. I knew right away that the guy had some serious issues.

As a person, BK is hopeless. But he does TV like anyone who has been doing it for 20 years. Better than Durga Nokar Sharma or Rama Syal, if you ask me.

I often dont like to comment on some one personally, but if some people try to make some one 'hero' for nothing, then I cant stop speaking. I would very much agree with Mamta and Pasu. Although I did not have a close experience with BK, I have observed him in few occasions from very near. And, he very much resembled the characters what Mamta and Pasu are mentioning.

TURBULENCE!!

what kind of capacity are you talking about???? are you talking about his capacity to humiliate everyone? ask questions to the interviwee that is not even related to the subject? i have seen him shooting a 45 mins program to 5 hrs , with very very stupid questions. he does not have any capabilities.. its the people who work very hard for him makes him successful. talk about bhusan dahal, kishor nepal, they have immense capabilities...

It's possible that I am flat-out wrong about this, but the lesson I have quietly absorbed
from Vijay Kumar's professional life (so far) in Nepal is this.

If you 'peak' early in life in Nepal (i.e. get famous for doing something . . . anything...
at a relatively young age in Nepal), and then you continue to stay and work in Nepal with the same old clapping-for-you-all-the-time people (i.e. your friends, relatives and hangars-on who have a direct interest in keeping your ego stroked), then, the chances
are high that:

1) you would grow up to be someone who's highly impressed with himself, and
2) are stuck forever to remain singing your own bhajan all the time, while
believing that you have an inalienable right to diss others for no reason.

My limited observation:
Too many really good, promising people have been 'damaged' in Nepal precisely because fame came early in their life, and then, drunk on that easy success that came their way without much of a challenge, competition and setbacks, they eventually started believing their own press releases, and started thinking how 'mahaan' they were/are.

Of course, once that happened, they were (at least, to me) no longer interesting people, but egomaniacs who could only survive in Nepal, not anywhere else
where brutal competition and changing market scenarios would force them out.

[I find it breath-takingly puzzling that even after 20 years, Vijay Kumar, even with
his jhoor and khattam questions, has little competition on TV. Chalk that up as a
victory to our collective mediocrity!

What's the broader remedy then?
One has to work hard and sincerely at anything one does in Nepal, while reminding oneself that all the fame in Nepal actually means NOTHING, NOTHING and NOTHING
for -- let's face it -- such fame comes so damn easily in this postage-stamp size of a country such as ours.

Is it any wonder that, to cite one provocative example, many 'mahaan' and famous-ONLY-in Nepal sahityakars have an emotionally hard time digesting Samrat Upadhyay's literary success in the US and beyond?

Ah, one lives and learns!

oohi
ashu

Mamta states,"ido not understant why you posting on thread.theres no point reading it and commenting on it. we are talking about a person who is soo biased and thinks he is the only journalist in nepal. if you dont like to talk about anyone just dont post on a thread. "
Ok its one thing if this mothereffer of a journalist had won a pulitzer prize or nobel prize or something. There are more important things NEPAL needs than thrash talking about some 2cent journalist. That person is not here defending himself, and here you are BITCHING about his bias. Its like he said she said bullshit. I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR EITHER.

Mamta states,"if you think people are having hard time putting food on a table then why dont u do something and encourage others to do the same. let others do what they want, none of your business.. " JUST SHOW HOW MUCH YOU FUGGIN CARE ABOUT YOUR OWN PEOPLE AND COUNTRY....HE HE YOU WOULD MUCH RATHER INDULGE YOURSELF IN PETTY CONVERSATIONS LIKE BITCHING ABOUT OTHERS HUH !!!!
