I was just kidding. I do not want any tourist visiting to Nepal get discouraged during these hard times for tourism board.
Well, try to avoid going to crowded places. Kathmandu these days is relatively safer than before and especially for tourists.
To visit, there are tons of temples and monastries around Kathmandu to visit.
The best things would be to buy a lonely planet book about Nepal.
Good luck and have a safe trip.
And do not forget to take a good umbrella; it is a monsoon season in Nepal these days.

Before 1996 Nepal was great destination for eco-tourism and now the prospect has expanded therefore now Nepal destination for Mao-tourism as well. Some Canadians and other tourists are paying maoist few bucks just to have conversations with them on their way or back from their intended treaking routes.

Good to read the line: Some Canadians and other tourists are paying maoist few bucks just to have conversations with them on their way or back from their intended treaking routes.

Today they take few bucks and later the ADAT will make them no
different than Malpot or CDO office Ka Corrupt Karmachari.
This is how people are made corrupt. This is why TV radios
and newspapers in India tell people not to give money to
begging kids in streets. By giving them, you are inviting more
kids to streets and turning them to beggers. I support this
idea. Maoist today, take that money in the name of party,
what percentage is used by party, this is what matters.
When make such wrong habit, finally, you are addicted
and later you will use all means to collect the money forcefully.
Well, Maoism in nepal gave this priveledge to attract more
Nepalis on their side, but, in future it will be their right and
finally, it will be the cause of their death.

Anyway, we should remember that priviledge when offered
for long time, then, people take it granted and consider it
as their right in long run, then, you can hardly remove
it telling them it was just a priviledge. So, priveledge should
be withdrawn before public get addicted to it and turn it
as their right.

To be more accurate, it's like foreign Aid that Nepal govt was receiving (and was hooked upon like addiction) from the govts of some these same tourists.

Hi Lost
Wel come to Nepal.......amazingly beautiful country. Though in media there are only bad news abt Nepal, in reality it is not like that and you should feel 100% secured to be here.

If its ur first trip to Nepal, it would be just terrific, U dont have worry AT ALL. Political scenario and strikes can be memroable experinces over here. On the top of that Trekking, Rafting, cool mountains, green hills, honest people, narrow streets of Kathmandu, spicy food, unforgettable hospitalitiy and the endless list.

You ar very much welcome again and of course one must be little cautious but for tourist its not AT ALL problem. the worst that can happen is u MIGHT HAVE TO PAY 50 dollars to MAOIST if u go for trekking.

Some places to visit
In Kathmandu (Durbar Square, Monkey temple, Nagarkot, Pashupati temple,)

out of Kathmndu

Pokhara, Annapurna (for trekking), Lumbini (birth place of Lord Buddha), Royal chitwan National park, Sarangkot (near Pokhara) and so on....

Hope this works....if u ve still some questions ur welcome........By the way from which country u r in Europe? I was there but now in Nepal to meet parents.

Once again wel come to Nepal
Amazing

Well, due to recent bombing of the civilians and the growth in crime rate in Kathmandu because of sudden increase in population and the drug use, it is quite sensible for a stranger to worry about his life while travelling to Nepal. In addition, due to the haphazard bombings in Bishal Bazaar, and other government offices and public places, in the past, the chances of being caught in those situations cannot be ignored either. Then again there are incidents of female tourists being harassed by nepalese guides, or wanna be guides.
And I am not quite sure if anyone remembers, but about 8 to 9 years ago, an italian couples had come to Nepal to celebrate their honeymoon when some nepali guys started harassing the italian girl in thamel and when the italian guy intervened, he was stabbed to death. So considering all these changes in Nepal's social scenery, we cannot state that Nepal is as safe as it used to be in 70's or 80's or even early 90's.
Therefore, I would advise Lost to be cautious about who to trust in Nepal, while not being discouraged to visit the country though.
