Many soldiers are dead in Palpa as of today. Now the leaders have one more reason to secretly enjoy becuase they can claim that the king could not bring peace and security back.

What the leaders will conveniently forget is that they are the ones in the first place who gave rise to the Maoist rebels in the first place. Secondly, their continuous support for the Maoists has made it even more difficult for the government to tackle the Maoists. I will not be surprised if the leaders use this opportunity to stage more demonstrations so that they can grab power as soon as possible.

As for the rest of us Nepalis, we are saddened by the loss of our Nepali brothers. It will only make our resolve stronger to support the king and hope peace is reinstalled in our country.

ShriyaK,
The soldiers' duty has now changed. Their duty to point their guns at the government, not at maoists. It is the Shah Dynasty that has spoiled Nepal, not the people, to begin with. Look at other kingdoms. All other kings are holding onto their thrones by making people happy. Our president Gyanendra wants to hold on to Nepal by making Nepalese please him.
ShriyaK, you are misguided.

Magdadela as you have opposed to what ShriyaK has said its better if we think it quite wisely what the real problem in Nepal is at the moment? Every obsession has it two sides and depends how we view that. We can perceive the same thing in different ways but the only solution is to find the real truth.

Looking back in our History Shah density have always tried to unite the country. They have spent their life in serving the country as being a head of a family. Now if we compare the nation as a house and king as a head of family we have to take the circumstances in a similar way as a home where a father does all his best to protect his children. Saying this I am not trying to say what ever the head does it right all the time. But, comparing the current situation and looking back in part I can definitely say; at present circumstances having King in place as head is lesser of two evils.

ShriyaK was quite right in saying that the political leaders are the one who gave rise to the Maoist. Again step back to the time where King Birendra gave total freedom and democracy was established in the country that was the period where almost every political leader got opportunity to prosper their own party and themselves. I am not surprised top leaders are done for corruption and have been sentenced for their deeds.

Well you may be thinking that I am just trying to protect the current moments of the king but it’s not the case. I have in my lifetime experienced an experience of being involved in political parties as well as being involved in different activities but the thing that put me away was almost every leader were their to benefit for themselves and their party there wasn’t any feelings to prosper the country and everyone was just heading to get an opportunity to get into power no matter how they could get power the final destination to them was to get a place. Most of the innocent Nepalese were brain washed and were given little money where they were ready to do anything thinking that they got their needs just because of those leaders and the democracy system. But the fact was those leaders were hunting for a bigger feast just trying to deceive those innocent Nepalese with money.

Now ask this question to yourself were those Maoist not a political party before? but after unsuccessful attempt to be in the power they choose to fight a different war. Well the same political parties leader who used words as terrorists to those Maoist went to India to agree in different points to dissolve the king’s regime. Well what can you expect from such leaders who can turn their direction in any ways when they have to grab the opportunity. So isn’t it wise to choose someone who at least doesn’t change his direction just for power. Well if those political leaders were really so concerned about the welfare of the country and those Maoist I would like to ask isn’t their ways where you can fight for freedom winning peoples heart rather than compelling people to join those party. Well if they had mercy in the country people and the country there would be no casualty of any innocent Nepali or the loss of the property of people and the country itself. In the name of Maoist insurgency in past years the country has suffered a heavy loss in its infrastructure. If they really loved the country they would transform a new society and wins people heart. All those amount that is spent by Maoist could make a valuable contribution to the country help them to win peoples heart. So it is you who has to decide who is right and wrong. FOR NOW THE ONLY THING WE CAN HOPE IS PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN THE COUNTRY.

Dear All,

I had seen many feedbacks in many nepal-related blogs. Most of the people are telling that neither Royal palace (people from royal palace) nor political parties (its people not the party itself) nor maoists (its members not the party) are good for ruling the country. I am also with the same view. But, everyday a question arises on my mind : “So, who should be the one whom we all can trust ?”, “Who should be the one under the leadearship of whom the country could be benefitted ?”, ‘Do we have any idea on that ?” “What kind of system should Nepal adopt so that people could be benefitted ?”.

Why is there no option for us to choose except members of current political parties or maoists members or royal palace members ?

If we have option can anybody tell me specifically what kind of system we are looking for ? Who (Specific person or parties or anything you could think of) under whose leadership the country can benefit ?
If we don’t have answer to these key questions then we all are fighting in vain and for nothing.

I appreciate your participation.

Thank you,
A Dhakal

Yet another wrongly named thread. The correct tittle should be: soldiers dead, Chairman Mahila Sahu and his loyal chamchas sipping wine.

There are no good politicians in our country. This is the case with every king, politician or person in the world. It is only that some are better than others. Lord Ram was himself not good, he was just better than Rawan (again, there is a big ? for this statement as it is subjective). He abandoned Sita for no reason.

Now to the point, as far as Nepal is concerned, choose from
1) Autocratic monarchy,
2) Multiparty democratic Republic
3) Constitutional Monarchy with supremacy of Army
4) Become a part of India

Confused,
Pardon my saying so..but the rambling post you have up here only shows that you really are confued :-)!

1. You said that the leaders of the political parties only worked for themselves and that KG is working for the prosperity of Nepal: How? What has KG done in the last one year that had led to a situation where the Nepalese people have benefitted? Have the bridges that were blown up by Moists been built? Have roads been built? Has security improved enough in the villages where Nepalese are not forced to flee to India or Gulf or anywhere else for that matter?

2. You said that the parties labelled the Maoists "terrorists" please tell me, what term is KG using to desrcibe them? Read/listen to his statement made on Wednesday- he uses the word "terrorist" and claims that they are now reduced to "petty" crimes - I'm not sure what the word "petty" means in his very educated English, but I am damn sure that the word "petty" is not used when Police and Army personnel are being butchered, civilians are being killed and kidnapped and rape by maoists and Army is rampant.

3. You said, "So isn’t it wise to choose someone who at least doesn’t change his direction just for power" - what exactly did KG do on Feb 1 a year ago?..He hatched a coup to expel a democractically elected governement. I know there are many who will say that the government was corrupt and incompetent so he had a right to to do...well..what is happening now? There's equal if not more corruption. We have a ruling elite that is full of people who were caught smuggling red handed, a minister who served time in prison on charges of attempted murder; another who has no idea if he is Congress, Communist, Royalist (I doubt Prakash Koirala even knows what year it is!) and then last but by no means the least, a chairman who lived outisde Nepal for eons and came back to Nepal only to take the post of Chairman and earn even more money than he did when he was the P.M under the Panchayat....

So again, please explain to me exactly what good has this "father" KG as "head of the household" to use your words, done for his "children"?

confussed,
You are a tapari that's all you are!
You are just a political leader, good to know. You did not claim to be a patriot. And as you said, political leaders are to be blamed for the current fiasco. That political leaders include the monarchy too (and you too, mother f^ ucker, bado wanna claim to be a leader).
Iit's not the dynasty but a mere handful kings including Prithvi. The Shah dynasty, on other hand, looted the country called Kathmandu, raped and killed people in its entire history, starting from Prithvi till now. And you think the job of a king ends in unification brought at the cost of lives and that brought discrimination among different peoples of the country, a discrimination that lasts till today.

Mr. Magdadela who ever you are well I can see a clear indication with the words you have used to prove yourself what family background you belong to. Well everyone has their own views and you are not an expert. If your views were accepted by majorities of Nepalese today I would have seen you in the place where you want to seek a solution. But, have to say unfortunately you don’t deserve any of that, well I don’t know how great you feel yourself using such swearing words to prove that you know something but from where I can see you is you and the state of you family who taught you such words. I really do feel sorry for my country to have such a waist of space. But I have no sympathy on your family where your family were not able to teach you some manners. So next time you talk to any one try to digest what others say as well and comment it in a well mannered way.

Hope you understand what I mean.

Thanks

Well said confused...
Anti monarch guys please enlighten me. what development has these politicans done, in compare to Late Birendra? most development, roads, buildings, hostitals, school were made at late Birendra's time , no? Late King even started programs like " gaun pharka" , brought in foreign aids and support. What did democracy did to us, maoists, corruption.
I still remember, although i was very little when Late king was ruiling, someone was stabbing with spring knife in baneshwor and was TV and news for weeks. Even special doccument was made, now people are dying in hundreds every month or so.. whathappened to Nepal.. how do you justify the filthy wealth of politician who get paid no more than 50,000 Rs a month( i'm not sure how much do they get paid, but definately not more than that i hope) but have house work Karores by the wealth made in few years when they were in power.. what happened. money dropped in thier roof from the sky?
when late Birendra was ruiling, there were corrupted ppl very very few.. and evryone hated them.. now corruption is an unwritten rule ... prolly need to build a database in the size of singha durbar to record just the names ...
Why should we trust Politicans? ... i'm just seeking an honest answer and not trying to argue..
Democracy works where there is checkand balance, when the sociey is safe and people are secure and wise to make good decisions... these politicans , do they have moral character, loyalty and ability to server the country , you think?

you see confussed, I talk to you and you try to blame my parents. I blame you, I curse you, you curse my parents. Where is the ethics? You should learn to blame the one cursing you. Why parents between you and me? Remove your parda, confussed, and start behaving like a man.
All this goes to prove my belief that you are coughing up someone else's desire .. probably a desire to suck innocent citizens' blood. Apparently there is nothing to digest from your hollow views. Remove your glasses, wake up and look around. HELLO! What do you see and tell me about it, don't go and tell my parents or family about it as they are asleep, deep in sleep and quite ignorant. My parents are honest, decent so again don't blame them. Hold your face up and tell me in my face, next time, if you have the guts. Or just don't say anything and watch others do some thing

I dont think actually anyone would be happy in this case, including the leaders.

In the post 46 era, whoever was in power had their fair share of quotas to be included in the police or army. All sorts of people came to power, the democrats, communists and monarchists. So when security personnel, or rebels for that matter, get killed, even the leaders would get a chill down their spine. When the security forces get killed, it could be someone that they had helped to be recruited while when rebels die, it could be someone from their own region.

The generator of this thread: You have put a wrong hypothesis that the leaders are SECRETELY enjoying on the killing of soldiers. The question should be like HOW sad is the king for the killing of so many soldiers on the very day that he claimed that security situation has been improved? Is he not the one who is leading the nation towards bloodshed....? Wasn't the ball in king's court when the maoist announced ceasefire for 4 months? Shame on him. He is the biggest liar of the world. The most irresponsible state head nation could ever have..

Maoists have reason to attack as the king and his poppet government didn't respond the truce announced by the maoist. What are the maoists supposed to do? surrender the arms and give up war they are fighting for more than 12 years? for what? To make the king strong?

Its the king who is solely responsible for all happenings. He can stop this war but can the political leaders do who even can not peacefully demonstrate?
