The government has announced that local elections are going to be held soon.

In my view, none of the political parties should be allowed to participate since the have all been embroiled in corruption. Only independent individuals should be allowed to stand in the elections.

Yea, the parties have already noticed it that there will be no votes for them and hence they have decided not to participate in the election.

Indirectly they will loss their good cadres as the good cadres will give their candidacy as independent candidates.

Conclusion: No need to ban them.

Yeah right, and bring back the crooks of partylessness? Anyways, the parties will probably boycott the election, so you may get your wish.

Yea, partylessness is the only solution for Nepal. Look and see my friend.

If you look and see and find partylessness as the solution, then you must surely be blind. Partylessness and direct rule will lead to the eventual overthrow of the Monarchy - and there will be no king then!

---> We saw it for 30 years and more recently for almost 3 years. Look how well we did in every front, including civil rights and press freedom!

Mr. Shrestha
I do agree with you that parties should be banned. But I also give clap to strict laws on mass medias n' prohibition for writing against king and his royal members. Actually it is still not enough. There should also be ban to speak against even Chamchas of Royal and ALL THE ROYALISTS like you. Then you are above the law. So KING n' ROYAL MEMBERS CAN NEVER DO WRONG IN THE EYES OF JUDGE IN NEPAL. So we need to crack down the parties and these bunches of stupid people.

Partylessness is neither a solution nor a problem. The biggest threats to Nepal are corrupt parties, blood-thirsty maoists and power-hungry king. All these evils have been working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to destroy Nepal.

Well, isn't it said that it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness? It's exactly the thing we need to do in this desperate times.

There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that democracy is the best form of government. But, like any good things it really has to go through times of troubles. Now, that it's been proven that the political parties just has their eye on power and has been embroiled in corruption doesn't mean that democracy is "not suitable" for Nepal altogether. Please bear in mind, that democracy is a filter in it-self. Just look at our neighbouring friend India. Isn't there corruption in India and politicized in most field of work? But, isn't it getting better- with people being concious of their right and opening up about things they feel isn't worth?

If our King seizes up the country is there any guarantee that our country will be Switzerland? What make a country developed is infact the awarenss and level of maturity of people not finding solutions through guns. Also, now that the political parties have lost their charm among the people they are kneeling down in front of the Nepalese mass asking them to come to their "sadak andolan". But, do the layman care? Who cares anyway? See what I mean.........democracy is really a form of government were people can excercise their rights and can have different faith.

If King Gyanendra is the all in all ruler what would happen to the those who make a slightest protest against any "wrong-doing" from the government? Shot, hanged or tortured.............with out others knowing where you are???????????

You say "parties should be banned" until your mouth is not shut. What will you do when they shut your mouth too. Don't be so elated my friends because others are barred from speaking. Same will happen to you unless you happen to be the 'serf' of this regime.
And if you think kg is banning parties because of their corruption, then you are blind. Show even one better example of non-corruption of kg's three "active creative (reactive in reality) rule of last three years. Corruption has increased hundredfold. It will increase more and you will not see much of it because media will not be there as kg is killing media too with his new ordinance.
Some people (don't know which group of Nepali citizenery they come from) show unnecessary arrogance towards media too. Where are you living my friends? If you are planning to live in Nepal in future for long time, I want to ask you one question, can you live just reading GORKHAPATRA and listening RADIO NEPAL? Oh yeah, you may have access to foreign media, what about other 90% of Nepal?

Shrestha Jee, how many population is in nepal? is it thousand or million. 100 or 200 people who are stupid support Gane it doesn't mean Gane has support from people.
Second gane is more corrupted than any other poltician. Royal place and singha durbar itself can prove it.Third baninng parties or banning press is not soluation, it is just towards civil war.

Democratic forces should not be banned from election. If they don't want to participate because of lack of support then those forces should be replaced. Political parties can win if they restructure their respected political parties. One way of restrucring is to make political parties more transparent to the public.
