I am trying to join a masters program, but the college did not issue a change of status I-20 as my SEVIS has completed. They said the only option is to take initial I-20, leave the country, get the visa and come back. Any thoughts on how I can change my status to F1 from TPS within the US? Has anyone successfully reinstated from TPS to F1 after their OPT had expired?

My OPT expired in Feb 2017. I also talked to a lawyer, and he said it is possible to apply for the change of status but depends on the college.
