Per his experience:
It took him around 20 months right from the beginning. You have to go through all the process that you would go with for-profit organization. Only thing is there is very very minimal chance of getting audited if you go by non profit. He had hired a good lawyer who did everything for him. Office/organization paid the application fees for I-140 and I-485. Labor certification took about 5 months and once you filed the I-485, it took about 5 months to receive your card.
