You don't need python, unless you need it for other purpose. Prerequisite of workbench is listed here https://dev.mysql.com/resources/wb52_prerequisites.html
MySql installer for windows comes with other MySql products including workbench ( http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/mysql-installer.html). You may need to select the extra features you need to install which you might have missed. If you have your server installed already, just install workbench separately from here https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/ .
