Rule of thumb is if you are sending more than 5000 then wire transfer may be beneficial to you as you pay upfront $45 transfer fee but you get the exchange rate as current nrb.org.np rate but if you are sending let's say only 1K then use third party agent like muncha.com, thamelremit etc. Both muncha.com and thamelremit are secure and reliable. I have used both of them. Only downside is you will get less exchange rate than current exchange rate. Thamelremit actually guarantees better exchange rate than western union and moneygram. Good luck!
