as far as i know it does not matter wherever you move for a contract job as long as you have a permanent address in CA where you can receive your mail and stuff, and whoever runs your payroll is in CA as well. Technically, you are working for an employer in CA but you have to move temporarily for a client in diff location. Go for it.
