My situation: My OPT is expiring Feb 2016, and I am applying for STEM extension now. Also, I'm hoping to file H1b 2016 April. I applied for TPS, but not TPS EAD. I did my fingerprinting but I haven't received any cards yet.

My questions:

1. Will my earlier TPS application interfere my STEM extension application? My greatest fear is my STEM extension being denied due to TPS application and having to quit work due to lack of work permit.
2. I need to be able travel to Canada and South America from my work. Is applying for AP good way to travel in my case? For how long with such AP document be valid for travelling? My F-1 visa stamp has expired already. My long term plan is to get H1b and H1b travel stamp, but my employer wants me to travel abroad soon but my visa status is hindering me.

I'd appreciate any advice!
