Religion, for me, is a philosophy, accepted as a devine form of a decree. Muslim and Islamic religion have witnessed several small changes in religious philosophy since the Bible and Kuran have gone through so many translations. Imagine that for Hindu religion with so many Gods and so many Books, Vedas to teach us about our religion. A collegue of mine had asked me which particular God do we consider the Top most? My answer was, it depends upon which book you are referencing your answer to. Some consider Maa as the supermost power, other consider Bramha as the creator of everything, other Vishnu (Bramha came from him), other Oum and so on. My point is, it is hard to conceptualize the entire Hindu religion based on a single Grantha. Some would condemn 'Kama' where as there are plenty books praising the same. We can start a barrage of Sholkas reciting the greatness of Womanhood if you want (I am sure few of my Sajhaite friends would know them). Having said that I have to commend you on doing a good research on Manusmrti, However: Do not condemn Hinduism as a Male chauvinistic religion. Get a grasp on other Granthas and Vedas before jumping to conclusion.
