The Embassy might seek explanation for being in student status for 10 years while you go for the interview. You will be fine if you are able to give them a valid justification.
As you are on legal status, I would not recommend you to apply for TPS before traveling to Nepal/getting a new visa. Generally TPS is good only for those who have run out of status. If you do so, this will definitely come up during your interview. They will ask you the reason for applying TPS while you're on F1 status. Remember as per law, they will be seeing if you as an intending immigrant unless you prove it otherwise. If they concluded that you did TPS only for EAD, you might run in to problem.
and don't forget to apply DV 2017
