Shown by the very top picture, Nepal Railways trains have tremendous advantage over Shinkansen on flexibility in terms of passenger hauling and for dual (cargo + passenger) purpose. You won't be seeing Japanese farmers hauling sacks of rice from Japanese countryside to markets in Tokyo or Oshaka or Kyoto or to anywhere else in Japan in Shinkansen rail cars.
