Ya its tough. Insurance is a big scam. One thing you can do is go to insurance broker and see if they can get a quote from other companies. Another thing you can do is put the insurance in your spouse name or parents name and add your self as additional driver. If you are in IT, you can put yourself as working from home, so you have 0 mile to drive to work.

Sorry about the whole thing. Insurance is a headache in US. I never had any wreck since I got my driving license and I still pay quite high compare to lot of other people. I have no clue why.
