DC Embassy is very very slow. I've been tracking when they ship passports to Nepal and when Dept of Passport back home completes the assignment and sends new passports to DC. Here's my summary:

DC Embassy: ships passport to nepal every 30-45 days or so
Department of Passport: sends new passports back to DC 8-10 days after receiving the applications

While other embassies seem to be sending passports to Nepal more frequently even though their batch sizes are quite small, DC embassy waits until they have about a 1000 passport applications and then sends them to Nepal. Trying to save money (pocket money?) I guess. It's a shame that DC Embassy isn't very responsive and their website also sucks the most, at least among a handful of other Nepalese embassy websites I've compared to.
