@ Nas bro.... The meaning of the above Samskrit Subhasita is as follows:
Food, sleep, fear, and mating, these acts of humans are similar to animals.
Of them (humans), dharma (right conduct) is the only special thing; without dharma humans are also animals.
There is also another saying which goes like this: Humans are animals until the divine (Total) knowledge is put in him/her.
Also, if you don't use your self-intelligence, what use is of Shastra (Scriptures)? Here is a beautiful verse from Rig Veda.
