This is a subject that I am very passionate about. So be careful if you want to continue with this debate.
Here are my answers:
"Nothing wrong with cannibalism" - that is pretty sick. Just because people did things in the past does not make it right. You seriously think it is OK to kill people and eat their meat was/is right? This is not about "history" but about right and wrong in the context of the time you live in. Every culture has history, good or bad. Everything was right at the time, but history and culture of all civilization change with time, nothing is permanent. Old ways are abandoned and new changes are accepted that makes their life better during their time.

Have heard it again and again "If you eat meat, then you are a hypocrite"
My answer:
The word that twirls around such discussion is "sacrifice", it is done in the name of religion and belief. It is not a typical "butcher" house operation. Killing animal in the name of "religion" and "food" is two different world to think through. If you cannot differentiate the contrast between these two words (religion and food), then you need to travel and see the world. Now, you will say, "It is about eating meat at the end, so why does the "execution" (why it is killed) matter?
Well, let me give you the answer why "execution" matters.
We all have sex in our bedroom, yet we do not tolerate two individual having sex on the street. Why? Why? After all if "execution" is not important and the the end result is "having sex" just like in "eating meat". If meat is meat at the end, sex is sex too.
Why do we not tolerate open public sex?
Controversial, if you can answer that. Then my reason why I am against animal sacrifice in the name of religion is very close to that answer which you are about to give. So think through. Why do we not tolerate open public sex?
Same thing, we shit in the toilet with door closed. Why not defecate in the public? After all, the end result is shitting. That might not make sense to our Nepali people cause we do shit and pee in public. LOL!
Sacrificing in the name of "religion" and killing animals for "food" is like sex in "public" and "bedroom" analogy in a rudimentary definition of civilization across the planet in present time.Some day it might be ok to have sex in public, but it is NOT now.
Regarding vegetarian: Don't worry about them. They are doing fine. Yes, millions of people are "vegan" these days (FYI, they don't eat dairy products). So you need not be concerned about their health. There are plenty of alternative to meat and also dairy products.
