Questions to college DSO/Int. Student Advisor:
I have few questions in regards of maintaining a F1 status by international student while using TPS and its benefits. As of 24th June 2015 Nepal , the country i am from has been given Temporary protected status (TPS) i am planning to register for it and also obtain EAD card under it but also maintain my F1 status , could you tell me how could i do that ? what are the documents you will be needing from me ?
Also my passport was handwritten and just got MRP passport making old one void and have new MRP passport with new passport number ,old passport number mentioned in info page of new one. how do i update it with the Sevis record or college?
Answer from DSO/ Advisor : I would advise you to maintain your F1 status.However, you can apply for EAD card and if it is approved,it is on your discretion to keep your f1 status or not. If you wish not to maintain your F1 status, I will need a signed letter from you, authorizing us to close your SEVIS records/I-20 records and will do so.
Please send me your updated Passport and we will put it on your file. As of now, we do not put passport Infos on your SEVIS records but we will need for your file.
