I am going home [had to go due to personal reasons] in a week and currently doing my Phd in US. My visa is expired and need to re apply. Everything related to immigration was great on my side until recently when I was charged with domestic violence. I am doing counselling and community service until my case is dismissed. Will this affect my visa? Is there any chance of getting denied sole because of DV?

If anyone knows please give me your suggestions.
