It's a sure fix thing that where ever there is Earth(land),earthquake can't be escaped,which is bound to appear in its due date--just like pregnancy--in a time frame of few years to few centuries.Telling land I mean,whole land,not only 3% that people know of but all of them,including all the land beneath the oceans and seas too while occurring in a pattern depending on the geological formation of that particular region.

Nepal's earthquake is unique as Nepal as a country itself is unique!,given the fact that we have numerous tall mountains and hills,which stays solid in its feet, and completely blocking the inevitable moving tectonic plates--northbound--which,in a good long time,comes out as a Rage with all those accumulated energy.

Kathmandu is very very lucky for such a number of casualties( although 1600 plus and counting...) in such a vicious quake as Kathmandu is a marshland according to myth and lies in the laps of surrounded hills; had Kathmandu be situated in hilly terrain like Sindhupalchowk,Gorkha,Dolkha and the likes,one can only imagine what kind of cataclysm we have to witness and experience.

The numbers itself tells the story;230 earthquakes in just 24 days,two Monstrous ones exceeding 7 RS,two Giant ones exceeding 6 RS,numerous 5 RS ones followed by a band of 4 RS(all being aftershocks of the Big one to minus the energy),which is quite uncommon and unheard all around the world.Now,we knew why our ancestors pass the idea of not making any buildings higher than the "gajur" of Pasupatinath temple in around Kathmandu area,to its residents,which is like three storey max,as they knew beforehand that Nepal is seismically active region.

Japan's and Haiti's earthquake comes from the shake beneath their near ocean while Nepal's quake is a result of wavering hills and unwavering mountains,which just stop the moving plates.Nepal should learn immensely from Japan on quake-tackling and developing physical structures which are safe and suitable for Nepal;and,other hilly countries all around the globe should learn from Nepal as what happened and what might happen.The shake jolt the place according to its location and height;Kathmandu's shake was a bit less than those of Gorkha and Dolkha,despite being of same magnitude,as they lies atop a hill while Kathmandu sleeps near the hills.My inner radar tells,the hilly area of Nepal got earthquake(as an epicenter) in about 80-100 years while the quake can appear in Terai and flat areas in about 300-400 years.

Well...even moon get its own fair of shakes known as moon-quakes!.It's just the natural process for this animated planet.RIP all those souls(seniors,juniors,kids and people of all walk of life) who have lost their precious life and may the bereaved family who lost their near and dear ones finds courage and solace to come out from this tragic event.
