It is a massive shame for the nation(or politicians?) to axe the national holiday on the birthday of Prithvi Narayan Shah.Shah,who was a harbinger of change for a germinating Nepal and who,venture out in a mission to gather all flowery states which were scattered wildly in various landscape at that time,while successfully creating a beautiful garland from them at last,is now almost consign to oblivion.The country seems to forgot its first-King who was permeated with fearlessness,prowess and who gave a perception of bravery and unification to all his citizens.
At a time,when country has become like a fragile tree,its politicians and freeloaders acting like wood cutters,chopping it from all directions to get their portion or province of share,his knowledge and character is ever more precious.Nepali people have seen and heard it all:from his time to Rana time-- Bhimsen thapa,Jung Bahadur,Dev Shumsher,Juddha Shamsher,Chandra Shumsher and all with their loot to sparkling BP and from BP to Tribhuwan and subsequently to Mahendra and then to unlucky and sober Birendra and then again to the flux of culprits and rebels,cheating nation in each turn,Prachanda,Baburam,gang of mafias from Madhesh( oah!..its not Madhesh,its Terai!!),Gacchedar,Yadav and Tripathi,Baidya and newly reincarnated Biplav,the family business of Koirala,drama-queen Sujata and now santa-looking Sushil,sitting comfortably in Baluwatar,Prithvi Narayan sits on the top of all these trouble-makers,yet people are happy to adore and follow anyone who can fool them with their words and false promises.
PN Shah expounded the power of unification,invented harmony in multifariousness,exhibited never-heard bravery to perpetrators,bring forth rule and law for common good,gave a sense of identity to then unidentified people,gave a country!.And now after many many years,in the same land,we witness a comic rule and system,indifferent to any thing good,forgetting our roots and vying for oblivion,missing it all!.Funny,the most important discussions in present time among all involved,is the question of how to divide nation and in what number: Should the Magars rule the Haleshi area or should the Bhatts gets all in the Far-West?,should Gacchedar and Yadav take hold of the south side for their own profit or should Kirat make their own fend to bar the whole Kanchanjanga region and what about Kathmandu at last;does it belong to Newars or to all who migrated there over years?.The Con-gressi have came up with 7 provinces to wound it while Eh-Malee have 6 in mind,not forgetting the Maoist who are still primitive and demand the land as per caste which can slice it in 10 and the Terai outfit who like to make their own Kingdom out there! Baah!...how many would you like?.
